Avatar movie

We went to see the movie Avatar last night. Very much worth the price of admission! In recent months we haven't been that successful finding a good movie. Finally we got to see a great one!

The movie features amazing images. Such detail! It's visually stunning to watch. However, we went to the 3D Imax so the regular version would be different. It had a nice and well put together storyline as well. With a bit of an extra meaning for those that are deep thinkers! I was completely impressed!

What I can't seem to get over though about this movie is how popular it still is. It came to theatres in mid December. One month later and on a week night no less it was still packed. If it wasn't completely sold out last night than it was just a few seats from selling out. We actually had to delay going to it from last week to this week because it was sold out last week when we tried to get tickets online. It's been selling out hours before each showtime thanks in part to the advanced purchasing available online.

The Pugs Encounter Horses!

Today I took the pugs for a walk to the park as I do just about every day. Weather permitting of course! As we were out we came upon 2 horses and their police officer owners at the park. One of the officers was working on training one of the horses while the other officer and horse looked on. It's interesting to me to watch the pugs when they see something brand new. This was their first encounter with horses. Both pugs were very focused on the horses the whole time we were near them at the park. Nosey little Cody kept turning his head even when we had walked long past the horses. Lol!!!!

The boys have seen many new things here in Dallas thus far. I think my favorite encounter I've seen the pugs have with a new creature in recent months would be the frog encounter. We see frogs from time to time and the boys are getting used to them now but that first encounter was hilarious. Simon was rather intrigued by the frog's ability to jump away from him. Simon would no more than get close enough to check out the frog when the frog would jump away. Completely baffling little Si-Si! Thankfully the pugs have never been aggressive when meeting a new little creature.

This part is random and totally off subject but the subject of weather came up a few moments ago as I stopped typing this blog to talk with my mom. Apparently Dallas if having much better weather than Phx right now. The weather here has been amazing for the last 4 or 5 days. It's not cold. Warming up to right around 70 degrees for the last 2 days. I was bouncing Simon up and down in my arms during a brief rainstorm this afternoon. He was unamused as he had just come back from getting a shot at the vet and was anxious to get back inside to big brother Cody. As for Phx, they are having bad rainstorms and Flagstaff(Northern AZ) is having the biggest snowstorm in decades. Yikes! Phx can't handle too much rain! Flooding can be a serious problem there.

Football Weekend! Part 2

Another big football weekend! I went to the store earlier and all cashiers were already wearing their Cowboys shirts despite it being a day early. My Cardinals are currently being dismantled by the New Orleans Saints. It is painful to watch so I am blogging during halftime. Cards quarterback Warner was rocked and his return is doubtful. I have almost complete doubt that the Cards can catch up with second string QB Leinart at the helm!

Cody however is doing his best to provide some comic relief as he flips his toy over his head and the couch. He was shaking the poor stuffed gorilla so hard it flew out of his mouth and over the couch. He then looked around in disbelief! As if to say, "Did I do that?". Lol!

Why is it when your fave team is losing you can't stand the commentators? Commentators are like fair weather fans in my opinion. Whichever team is winning they talk them up and talk down the other team. So if one is rooting for the team that is not winning it is rather difficult to listen to. Quotes I'm enduring this afternoon are as follows: "The Saints have all the depth." "The Cardinals make stupid errors, they have all season long." "The Cardinals are on their way to a dubious record of allowing most points in league history in back to back games." "The Saints are bigger and stronger." Grrrr!!!!!!!

Football Weekend!

So this past week didn't go so well for Texas sports, mainly football. TCU lost the Fiesta bowl then 3 days later Texas lost the National Championship game. Well, have no fear the Cowboys were able to make people very happy yesterday by beating the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a fun game to watch! Before moving to Dallas I had no idea that Philadelphia is one of 2 big rivals of the Cowboys. The other being the Washington Redskins.

Today is day 2 of the NFL's wild card weekend. This afternoon the AZ Cardinals take the field to take on the those cheeseheads from Green Bay. I'm a little concerned but hopeful! I may be all the way in Dallas but don't worry I will be appropriately dressed in Cards gear! And drinking out of my Cards mug that my boyfriend got me! Yes, I'm a football dork! One of few women that can HONESTLY talk of a lifelong love of football!!!!

So my boyfriend mentioned that for dinner tonight when the game comes on we should have what I would be having if I was in Phoenix watching the Cards. He suggested Chili's. At the time he mentioned it I kind of drew a blank as to what exactly I would be having if I were in Phx. Chili's is my fave but I wouldn't be eating Chili's. Today I thought of 2 possible and rather popular meals in AZ. Can you guess what one meal is?......Mexican food! Of course! I would be having either the mini chimi platter ordered from a fave Mexican restaurant or pizza with hot wings. Hot wings are incredibly popular in Phx! Yes, Dallas has hot wings too. But the hot wing craze is not nearly as high as it is in AZ. Though the meals are both good. I have to be honest after living in Dallas for the past 9 months neither meal truly excites me. Here in Dallas, Chili's sounds good!

Random Thoughts pt.2

Let's see 6 days into the new year, what's going on? Well, TCU lost the Fiesta bowl. Sad! But they played a good game! Now next up is Texas in the National Championship game. Go Longhorns!

A pipe burst at my apartment complex due to the cold temps. So we have been dealing with water issues. The water was turned off all day yesterday. I couldn't go an entire day without changing the boys water in their dog bowl. So there I was standing with the bowl under the faucet that had only a drizzle coming out of it. It took a ridiculous amount of time but at least Cody appreciated the new water. Today to deal with the continued lack of water I bought some. Lol!

Tomorrow is supposed to be the start of 4 of the coldest days Dallas has likely ever seen. More snow is due in. Based on how cold the temps are predicted to be for the next 4 days, I'm guessing the snow could stick around.

Happy 2010!!!

Can you believe it's already 2010? Last year went really quick. Lots of changes occurred for me in 2009. Oh and the pugs! Last year on New Year's day I was apologizing for getting so upset with my cousin/family. The year before that I left my family's New Year's Eve gathering and went home. I'm not sure what it is with me but New Year's Eve/New Year's day is never that great for me. The last few years I'm in this funk each time it comes around. Possibly it's weird holiday blues. So much anticipation for the holidays then they come and are over so fast....it leaves me a little sad. Now that the new year has started I hope I can re-focus.

First things first....I need to go buy a 2010 calendar. I usually have one purchased by now but for some reason lately there aren't enough hours in the day to get all the things accomplished I want to accomplish.

Happy New Year everyone! May 2010 be a great year for all!!
