Quick Snap Sunday

A stick in my mouth, a little dirt on my face, and my mommie still thinks I'm adorable. I got her wrapped around my little paw. She's so into me she'll probably ignore the fact that I plan on bringing this stick inside the house. LOL!

#mymomismynumberonefan...ha ha look at me hashtagging! I'm so Gen Z. Oh wait, I'm generation Alpha! Which better explains my tech savvy ways! Born in a time when social media and hashtagging is controlling the universe! After all I got my own instagram account! Have had since I was a wee pup of only 8 weeks old. #catchmeonthegram

The Pronoun Discussion

If you are into proper speaking and not sounding confusing and you took school VERY seriously then you will cringe too. Times are changing I get it. However, times shouldn't change so much that our pronouns go out the window!

While gathered with family at Easter this past Sunday, I noticed...actually I've noticed it before but I've chosen to keep my mouth shut. Perhaps a practice I should practice more often. Anyway, I've noticed a certain family member referring to his girlfriend as "them" or "they". HUH???? Why is he not using...."she" or "her", is what I would think to myself. I would also think, this is cringe-worthy to listen to, such a incorrect and confusing way to word things. I realize this next sentence may offend some but I'm entitled to my opinion...I'm sick of the gender neutral trend we are currently in. It's maddening! It's okay for girly stuff and boyish stuff to exist! It's okay! I mean what is going to be next? Are we going to have to refrain from calling a duck, a duck?

In case you aren't following, here's a couple prime examples of the way one of our family members is choosing to remove gender from sentences. I'll use Brad and myself in the example...if someone asks Brad, "does your wife do all the cooking in your household?" If he wanted to keep gender out of it he'd respond by saying, "Yes, they cook".  Example #2, someone asks Brad, does she walk the dog? He responds, "Yes, they walk the dog". As a result 99.9% of people would be confused. Questioning, who is "they"? Does Brad have more than one wife? Does his wife have a few personalities he's trying to acknowledge? It's confusing is it not? Yep, exactly how this family member was using his pronouns when referring to his girlfriend.

The end of the gender neutral pronoun discussion went like this, Brad and myself trying to "school" this young mind that is suddenly set on removing gender from his discussions. I refrained from screaming...'just say SHE...for goodness sake just say SHE!' Aren't you glad I refrained from yelling that? LOL! However, I did let him know his choice of removing the gender specific pronoun does create confusion and leads people to question too many things.  Therefore he might want to rethink his choice of gender neutrality. But I know he won't, it will continue. Which means I'll continue to cringe every time I talk to this particular family member at family gatherings.

In case anyone was wondering though, as for all of us in this household we are proud of our genders and will not be offended by the specification of our genders when talked about.

Me...a girl, I'm a she or a her. All girly pronouns apply!
Brad...a boy...He's a he or him...All manly pronouns apply!
Piper...a girl...She's rather prissy and a daddy's girl. All girly pronouns for her.
Landon...a boy...He's 150% boyish and a mama's boy. All boyish pronouns for him.

Easter Weekend Wrap Up

Hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. We are very European in our household this year, it's "Easter Monday" for us. For those that aren't aware, many parts of Europe have "Easter Monday" which is simply an extra day off so people don't have to rush back to work Monday morning after enjoying their Easter Sunday. Brad decided to give himself an "Easter Monday" by using a vacation day today. So he's home and currently snoozing still. Meanwhile I'm typing this with Landon next to me. I think Landon will be extra tired today from all the festivities of yesterday. He had a very big day, it was his 1st Easter.

Easter morning started early for us. As I baked cookies and we had an Easter egg hunt for our "kids". Landon found all but one of his eggs during the hunt. He got good at cracking them open to get the treats out. Piper lost interest after her first egg was cracked open for her. Yes, for her! From that point on she only wanted treats but wasn't interested in looking for additional eggs that contained the treats. The concept of finding more eggs and getting more treats never seems to compute with her. But Landon got it! He loved every second of looking for eggs. He was so proud to find each egg. He didn't always crack it open though, sometimes he'd proudly strut around with it.

By mid-day we were at my in-laws house for the family celebration of Easter. It was a beautiful day, couldn't have asked for better weather. We spent lots of time outside in the backyard since the weather was idle. Landon at a few points tried to participate in that Easter egg hunt too. Not realizing that egg hunt was for the human kids. But hey, it was quite cute when he paraded around with the egg he found. In his opinion the humans neglected to find that one particular egg, so their loss. LOL!

After returning home from the family celebration at my in-laws, additional family stopped by our place to spend the evening with us. During which, my nephew was happy to finally get Landon's attention and get to play with him. There were lots of distractions at the bigger family Easter so my nephew, Dylan couldn't seem to get Landon's attention long enough. I think all departed from our place around 1:00 am.

So yeah, our Easter was very full, from sun up and beyond sundown. Since we had family here last night we didn't get our traditional Easter evening accomplished. Our tradition the last few years is to watch the movie Hop on Easter evening. But it's "Easter Monday" in our house so Hop will be the feature presentation tonight. Before or after the Dallas Stars hockey playoff game...that is! :)

Piper says, "Wait, what are we doing? Looking for eggs? Why would I want to do that?"

Landon says:  "Got me my first egg! I'm excellent at this egg hunting thing"

All Very Innocent

Oh it's been a painful Good Friday for yours truly. It was all very innocent but the consequences were painful. Back on Wednesday a little boo-boo occurred. Brad in a moment of trying to be romantic ended up accidentally injuring me. He was trying to do an impromptu slow dance with me. Things didn't go as planned and the end result was my toenail being jammed underneath the cuticle and embedded in my toe. It was disgusting.

The pain was so intense Wednesday night. Yikes, so intense! Then on Thursday it looked pretty bad and extremely puffy. This morning it looked even worse. Brad wanted me to wait until Monday to go to the doctor to see if it got better on its own. But I couldn't take the pain any longer. I went to the doctor today. Had to have a short procedure done on it. I was proud that I didn't pass out during it. Yay me! It was such intense pain. Oh my, oh my!

Now as a result I have to keep my big toe heavily bandaged for the next week, which also means no wearing a shoe. So looks like I'm going to Easter without shoes on both feet. LOL! I am just so glad I went and had it taken care of because the pain was too much for me. I have pain meds now for the healing process, so I might be a little loopy during the next 7 days. And in Piper's world she hopes that means she'll cash in on some extra treats. Her hope is that I'm forgetful and overly generous due to the meds! Doubt she'll get her wish! I don't plan on being that loopy on the meds. I do hope though I can sleep better than I have the last 2 nights.

So to everyone else out there I hope your Good Friday is better than mine!

The Paper Trail

There I was in one of our bedrooms digging through a box that had arrived a few days ago. The company that sent us the box of items packed things very well and included a long piece of packing paper. Super long piece of packing paper. Anyway, wherever I am little Landon is not far. He stays close unless he knows I'm cooking and then he's content chilling on the couch until I'm done cooking. He is not a sous chef! Not in the least. Only time he comes in the kitchen is when he hears someone in the freezer. He loves ice cubes. I mean, LOVES ice cubes. Do not think for one split second it is okay to get ice for your drink in our household and not hand Landon a cube of ice. LOL!

Alright, I really am going to get back on topic this time. So there I am in the guest room digging through a box of well packed items. Landon is nearby in the room with me. Out of nowhere he snags the extremely long piece of packing paper that was included in the box. He was off and running in the blink of an eye. Running through the house, zigging and zagging to avoid his sister. He had snagged quite the treasure in his opinion. I'm not sure what he thought he was going to do with such a treasure but he was proud of what he had discovered.

Honestly the whole thing was too cute I didn't reprimand him too much. He was a little dog with a long paper trail...literally! I actually grabbed the camera and snapped a few pics. Sometimes a dog mom has to allow the puppy to be a puppy. Realize he's not harming anything and just enjoy an extra giggle. :)

Quick Snap Sunday

Good Morning!

Yep this is how things are early in the mornings around here with little me. I tend to surround myself with some of my favorite friends. Notice I have my spotted egg dude right next to me. I'm aware Easter is approaching fast. Mommie had a weird moment yesterday as she suddenly realized Easter is only 1 week away not 2 as she was thinking it was. Nope mom, better make up your mind as to what you are making for next Sunday's celebration because it's fast approaching.

Oh and mommie would like me to add but only for the sake of my daddy, you know in case he ever reads this. Although its pretty well known around here he never reads the blog. Anyway, the part I've been told to add...all these toys pictured, not mine originally. Three were Cody's and one was Simon's. So see, I....myself....have not received too many toys YET!!!! LOL!

Rainy Saturday Again

It's deja vu from last weekend. Another rainy Saturday for us. Brad's tennis match was postponed. So three of the four of us are currently relaxing on the couch. You can let your mind go wild figuring out which three of our little fam is on the couch and which one is missing. It's a little chilly again too. I'm back in long sleeves!

Brad is watching the clock for the Dallas Stars hockey game later today. Yes, we follow hockey in this household. What sport don't we follow? Well I guess there's some like curling. Not a fan of curling...too slow.

Anyway, moving on, has anyone noticed the "in" thing is Netflix and Amazon Prime making their own shows? For households like ours that do not have cable there are more and more options. Not as dependent on recycled shows from big networks like CBS and NBC. We tried the new series Hanna on Prime last night. Has anyone else checked it out? It was pretty good. I think it will get better. First episode took place pretty much completely in the forest with plenty of snowfall. It has to come out of the forest and give me some different scenery to keep my interest. Sorry but this former AZ girl can only take so much cold forest scenery. The primal instincts of Hanna did get to me a couple of times. I had to hold a pillow in front of my face twice. But I'll put it this way it was good enough to watch episode 2.

So let's review...no tennis for Brad. Which he's excited about because it won't interfere with his plan of watching the Stars playoff game. It's a rainy day schedule in our household, which means Landon has every toy in his toy box out. Oh wait, maybe that's a normal day for him. Yep, scratch that part, that's a normal day for him. Walking through a maze of toys is normal for us nowadays too. Not sure what our plan for the evening is yet? Most likely relaxing at home...maybe a game night. Playing some games sounds fun to me! Trivia anyone?

Quick Snap Sunday

When it's at-home movie night and mommie's red blanket is way too difficult to resist cuddling up on. Hey where's my bro? I'd love to cuddle with him! Ha-ha! Just kidding!

Thunderous Saturday

It is pouring down rain at this very moment. Way more than a sprinkle. Way more than a steady rain. Don't underestimate the word "pouring" in the first sentence of this post. The rain water has created a "river" that is travelling down the street. Piper decided to move away from the window when it first started but is cautiously venturing back towards the window now. I took little dude out front to see the rain. We have a archway just outside our front door. So as long as we stood inside the archway we weren't getting wet. Yes, I was holding him in my arms the whole time. I didn't let him walk out the front door on his own. What can I say? I'm a paranoid momma!

I'm thinking the weather has to change drastically in the next 90 minutes or so or Brad's tennis match is likely going to be postponed. I'm in a baking mood suddenly. Why is that when it starts raining out I want to bake something? It just seems like the thing to do. Now in Brad's opinion when it's raining out it means one should lay in bed, watch movies, and eat sandwiches. He stole the idea from a movie many years ago, before I came into his life. But generally that's pretty much all Brad does when it's a seriously rainy day, usually from the comfort of the couch though. He doesn't stay in bed all day.

That's another weird thing about me...I can't stay in bed all day. I'm not even good at sleeping in. Then again I've been a dog mom for many, many, many years. Dogs have to go out semi early in the morning, there's no sleeping in too much. Landon wakes me up at the same time every morning. Just like Simon used to. And just like Simon, I believe the light of the day peeking into the room cues Landon to get up.

Well hopefully the weather isn't too bad later on in the late afternoon as Brad has a friend coming over to watch the NCAA games. Who's going to the championship game? Since there's still a Texas school in it, not the "right" Texas school, but nonetheless we still must root for Texas Tech. Texas Tech and Auburn would be the dream match up for the championship in my opinion...because neither school has ever won it all before.

Side Note:  As I type this my little dude is laying next to me on a pillow. When the thunder is quiet his head is turned away from me. When the thunder booms his head is in my lap. He's been pretty calm for storms overall. But this is his first Spring. Weather in Spring can be very thunderous at times. Not to mention Springtime features possible hail and tornados. So we'll see how he copes with it.

Long Week

Has it been a long week to anyone else out there? Clearly it's been a long week for little Landon. Just look at the pic below! The caption should read: "wake me and turn me right side up when the weekend arrives"! LOL!

At least April has arrived in style...Springtime style that is! Spring has sprung. The trees are getting more full, green, and super beautiful each day. As I say every year...Spring is my fave in Texas. I plan on taking Landon for a short photo session near a field of bluebonnets in the coming weeks. I always wanted some pics of the pugs in the bluebonnet fields and never did it. In honor of my puggies it is my goal to get some pics of Landon in a field of bluebonnets during his first Springtime. For those that aren't aware the bluebonnet is the state flower of Texas. They grow for a very short time in Spring every year.

Yes, Landon often sleeps like this, on his back with his four feet in the air. I think it might be a havanese trait because I've seen a lot of "havas" on instagram sleeping the same way. Obviously the flash of the camera woke him in the 2nd pic!
