Quick Snap Sunday

Whack!

Notice the position of her tail. A split second before I snapped this pic he was about to wake her up in a typical pup-pup manner, by pouncing on her. Is there any other way to wake up your cat-sister?  He had his two front feet up on the her bed when all of a sudden her tail whacked him upside his head. What you see in the pic is the split second aftermath of the whack.

She may look asleep but she was certainly aware little brother was nearby. She's keen to his early morning antics. She knew he was about to pounce on her to wake her up for the morning. She did what she could to prevent it for a brief moment. He got in a better position seconds later and nudged at her until she got out of bed. LOL!

Yes, the pics from the last two Quick Snap Sunday's are similar. Very similar but still different enough in my opinion. This one has a better story to it. Once again, that's just my opinion. Happy Sunday Funday!

Lantics! (part 2)

Some dogs hate getting wet. Uh, Cody! Goodness, if it wasn't perfect conditions outside, Cody grumbled. Anyway, Landon isn't fond of being outside during a serious downpour of rain. But sprinkles and sprinklers don't bother him.

This morning I was rinsing off our patio area and Landon was trying to catch the water from the hose in his mouth. It's a big time game for him to run at the hose at full speed. Once getting blasted with water he backs off, waits a second, then runs at the hose again. This continues until he is soaked and usually dirty too. After his battle with the hose he was put up on his grooming table and rinsed off completely.

First dog I've had that actively runs towards the water hose. He's a nut! The pic is my lame attempt of giving him a mohawk once we got inside. I couldn't help at least trying. His expression seems to say..."Really mom, you have to take a pic of me now? I'm not camera ready!"

Puppy Love

This is one of those posts I probably shouldn't make. Basically, no one that knows us is allowed to mention this post to Brad...ever...got it? Good! I don't want him to be embarrassed, to me it's not embarrassing, it's super cute which is why I'm doing this post! Yikes, this is also a post I'm hoping Piper never reads. Along with our furries that have already crossed the rainbow bridge.

Okay, now that I got all that out of the way. The other night I was in the back bedroom when I heard a little coughing/choking noise coming from Landon. I was concerned, however, I knew Brad was out in the living room near Landon. Therefore Landon was in good hands. That being stated, you know me, the worried crazy fur baby momma that I am, it was a mere 30 seconds before I yelled to Brad from the bedroom for an update on how Landon was doing and if he was doing alright. Brad quickly responded saying Landon was fine and he was taking care of him. A couple minutes later I came out of the bedroom, upon entering our living room, what did I see? Brad on the couch with Landon in his arms giving him a drink from his own water bottle. Landon was drinking away too. It was clear Landon was fine and his daddy was definitely taking good care of him. I actually couldn't help but laugh a little when I saw the scene. It was cute for sure! But it was funny too. Funny because I'm not sure Landon really needed a drink straight from Brad's water bottle. ;)

Oh my, oh my, I have said this before...Brad is obsessed with Landon! Landon has wiggled his way into Brad's heart like no other dog has before. Brad's love for Landon was a topic of discussion recently. Dare I say it? Should I say? Brad did not use the word "dog" when talking about his overall favorite. Notice the word...overall! Catch my drift? There was a more "general" term applied to the conversation, if you get what I'm hinting at. However, I'll let you figure it out on your own. Meanwhile I'll keep my fingers-crossed Piper never reads this!

Quick Snap Sunday

Sleeping thru the storm outside. Piper is good at sleeping thru anything and everything. What does that say about her? I mean, most pets are "light" sleepers. Then again, she has a pesky little brother now, perhaps she's getting extra good at sleeping thru annoyances. LOL!

I think 90% of the pics I post of Piper she's snoozing. Has anyone noticed? I can't help it...one, she sleeps a lot and two, she's so cute when she sleeps. But believe me she may very well be attempting to get the laziest cat award, assuming there is one!

Lantics! (part 1)

This is a new series I'm naming Lantics...it's what you get when you combine Landon with the word antics..."Lantics"! These posts will be all about the "Lantics" of my sweet little dude and will appear on this blog from time to time.

"I can have my football any day, this potholder I have only til mommy discovers me with it!"

"What? I was considering learning how to bake."

"Guilty? Guilty of nothing, no clue how the potholder got here?"

The Planning

I sit here typing this post as I watch the NBA Draft....one word...ZION! Pelicans are about to become relevant again. Mavs don't have a first round pick so I'm not sure why I care too much. I guess because I was raised in Phoenix? Phoenix is a basketball city! Or at least it was when I left. The Suns were awesome in my youth. Not so awesome in recent years though. Tonight the Suns pick at #6!

I have been busy planning Brad's birthday party. I was all over the place with quite a few ideas for his party. I finally made my final decision and I'm happy with it. Brad LOVES games...so dinner at a restaurant and then dessert with some game night festivities at our place. Hope everyone shows up ready to play games and enjoys that type of an atmosphere. I'm sure it will be fun!

So here's the kicker I was working with an event coordinator at a restaurant. She was awful at her job. Okay, slightly above awful. Anyway, I gave up on her. I'm not a big believer in chasing people in this area. I think if they want my business they should be doing their best to earn my business. Well this event coordinator did the extreme bare minimum. As a result, like I said, I gave up on her and made other plans at a different restaurant. The restaurant I ended up choosing actually fits with my theme better anyway. So this afternoon I finalized my invitations and sent them out via email and text messaging.  About 3o minutes after I sent the invites out I received an email from the somewhat awful event coordinator at the restaurant I grew tired of waiting on. I quickly wasted no time to email her back telling her I already reserved something else. After emailing her, within a few minutes I received an automatic message saying she's out of the office until next Tuesday. Oh my! Yeah, no regret not choosing that restaurant!

I hate to say this and I don't mean to brag in any way but I think I missed my calling...I would have been an excellent event coordinator. I would know how to "sell" the restaurant/event space. I'm creative so no party would ever be the exact same. Plus I'm extremely organized. And most important...I know how to coordinate things with people and do follow-up.

Anyway, I'm ending this to go make dinner and do some ordering of decorations for Brad's party!

Quick Snap Sunday

It has been a very busy Father's Day weekend. There were 2 grocery runs, 1 total FAIL dessert, and 3 total desserts made for the weekend, including the failed cake. After that kind of busy Saturday we arrived at Sunday...we just got home from my in-laws where we waited out a storm while dining on way too much pizza, salad, and cake. All in all it was a sensational Father's day!

Oh and look who else went shopping to get their human dad something...

Quick Snap Sunday

Today is National Pet Memorial Day. So despite this being a slightly odd Quick Snap post it seems fitting to feature a pic of pics. In our spare bedroom there is a group of photo frames on display, among the framed photos are these two gems...my sweet puggies! I think there will always be a couple of pics of the pugs around. These are two of my absolute favorites of the pugs, obviously since they are on display in this house.

The pic on the left of a barely full grown Cody and a still puppy Simon, is a pic I've always treasured. It has been on display in every residence I've had since it was taken. As a matter of fact the heat from one of my many moves melted the photo to the frame so it can't be taken out of the frame without ripping it. The pic on the right is a happy memory pic for me. The looks on their little faces is such pure happiness. I snapped that pic in a hurried moment while walking them on a trail in the Irving area. It was taken probably about a year after we moved to Texas. My dear sweet puggies! Gone but never forgotten...so glad I was lucky enough to be their mommy for so many years.

The Texas Bug

I'm not going to lie I'm not fond of bugs. Who is? I'm not a total wimp, I can take care of smallish bugs but I have a size limit. And an ugly limit. Bugs deemed too big and too ugly by my standards may make me scream or hurry away. Which will then mean my husband has to deal with removing it, cause I'm hiding in the next room until it's dealt with. LOL!

The other night I entered our spare bathroom and for some reason my eyes instantly looked upward, I noticed a bug right in the crevice where the wall meets the ceiling. I didn't scream bloody murder but I was vocal enough to garner the attention of both Brad and Landon. Now hold on a hot minute, this was a Texas bug not one of those measly little Arizona bugs. Some bugs in Texas are like bugs I've never seen. Like they say, everything is bigger in Texas! As Brad stood in the doorway I pointed upward above his head. He then went to prepare to capture the bug. Brad can't kill anything. He always catches and releases. He's the nice one in this marriage! Me, I'm not nearly as nice!!! Believe that!

Within minutes Brad arrived back in the bathroom with a broom in one hand and a bag to capture the bug in.  He hands me the bag to capture the bug in. I'm thinking 'Really? I have to help in this process?'...Imagine my disgruntled face! I pointed it out that should have been the end of my bug capturing responsibility. Next up, Brad explains how fast I'll have to move to catch this darn Texas-sized ugly bug. So there we were...Brad swipes at the bug with the broom and I attempt to capture it in the bag. I'm not sure if I didn't move quick enough or if I just missed but next thing we both know the bug was running down the hallway. As the bug scampered down the hall I screamed and possibly ran in the opposite direction. Meanwhile, Landon ran, Piper hid, and Brad laughed hysterically. Next was attempt number two to capture the bug running amuck. That one didn't go well either. The next few attempts didn't go well. Every time Brad used the broom to knock the bug towards the bag I was holding I screamed and jogged in place. After many failed attempts Brad was laughing at me so much his eyes were watering. Finally Brad got the idea to just use the broom to scoot the bug through the hallways then through the dining room and out the back door. The giant Texas-sized bug was finally freed into our backyard. I hope he didn't stay in the backyard. I hope he scurried along to someone else's house. Goodbye sucker!

The next day when Brad returned home from work he said he could hardly wait to get to work that day to tell his co-workers about how I screamed and ran away from a bug. Can you believe that? Jeez! Worse yet, he followed that up by mentioning he wished he had gotten it on video. Trust me folks, the world isn't ready to see that on video. Or maybe I'm the one that wouldn't be ready to see it on video. How embarrassing!

My Picky Copycat

Oh sugar and spice and everything nice, isn't it fun having a cat-daughter? Yes, 95% of the time it is fun. That 5% of the time she's a picky little thing that makes me want to pull my hair out.

A little over a month ago she was switched by the vet to a food addressing both weight management and hairball control issues. She seemed to like the first bag of the food. However days after opening the 2nd bag she suddenly decided she didn't like it anymore. Short-lived "like" on her part!

Clearly since my cat had taken a hunger oath I was forced to go buy her previous food. Brad then suggested we mix the two foods together. I thought that was a pretty smart idea, at least until the vet suggested food is used up. He remembers Storm loving it when he mixed food together for her. Well, Piper is not Storm. Honestly Piper and Storm are complete OPPOSITES...in every way! She didn't approve of mixing the foods. She would pick at the mixed bowl of food, only taking a few kibbles to keep herself from completely starving. So now after a few days I think I have it figured out.

Her old food is back and staying until she decides she isn't going to eat it anymore. Plus, she has been switched to "free feeding" like Landon. She's a copycat! For months now she's seen how he's been fed and it suddenly appeared she wanted to eat the same way. It was a scary thing for me to switch her to. However, here's the thing with her "free feeding", I trick her. I mean come on, of course I can outsmart my cat. She is part of the "free feeding" club...but...I measure out the food every morning. It's then her job to make it last all day. I'm surprised so far it's working so good with her. She has been "rationing" her food well, eating the majority of it in the morning and the rest little by little in the late afternoon and evening. Fingers-crossed all this continues!

Hopeful bonus to the free feeding...since she has her food available to eat all day long, my hope is she stops eating the puppy food! Why would she need to eat his food if hers is right there? Once again my fingers are crossed!

Quick Snap Sunday

"Landon, look up"..."Landon look at mommie"...I must have heard those two sentences at least a dozen times each. Can someone please remind my mom I'm a puppy? A puppy's gotta play when a puppy's gotta play. I don't always have time to perfectly pose for a pic. #thestruggleisreal
