Yesterday was very busy. We had a mini get-together in honor of my brother-in-law's birthday. So I was busy all day. I baked the cake in the morning, then worked on the meal in the afternoon. The get-together was planned somewhat last minute. Well at least last minute in my opinion as I usually plan parties at least 10 days prior. This was planned I think as of Friday. So yeah, slightly short notice. ;)
Anyway, a good time was definitely had by all, even Landon. Landon loves his aunt and uncle. Oh man, he's crazy about them. He had tons of fun all evening long. He turned into a tired ragdoll around 2:30 AM, being passed back and forth from my lap to Brad's lap. But after 2:30 AM, every time anyone got up to go outside he mustered up a little more energy to follow. I think Piper was the only one that didn't necessarily need a get-together last night. She spent most of the time hiding in the laundry room lounging on the bed she used to share with Simon.
For part of the entertainment after dinner we had a marathon of a new sitcom we recently started paying attention to. Of course there were a couple games played too during the evening. The "evening" ended around 3:30 AM. Needless to say we are all tired today. Well all except for Piper. Clearly, Piper didn't get the memo to let mommie sleep in this morning, at typical rise and shine time Piper was at our bedroom door meowing loudly. I would like to add Landon did not rise and shine this morning until 10:15 AM. He slept in! Like I said he was going and going last night with boundless energy until the middle of the night.
Here's the pic I was going to post as the Quick Snap Sunday pic...Early yesterday morning I had to make a quick run to the store for a couple items I forgot and snapped this pic. It's AUGUST! AUGUST! I don't mind seeing pumpkins and Halloween chills and thrills once September arrives but August is a little early. Actually I think Halloween stuff shouldn't appear in stores until after Labor Day. Because Labor Day for as long as I can remember has been the marker as the official yet somewhat unofficial "end of Summer". Side note...why is it when you are hosting a dinner party or any kind of party that you always forget an item or two? Grr! For me it usually happens because I originally think there's enough of a certain ingredient in my pantry and as it turns out there isn't enough of that particular ingredient so I'm running to the store for some extra spice or dark brown sugar instead of going with light brown sugar or whatever. Always seems to happen!

Landon's Saturday
What's going on in my world? I just got done rearranging things. I like to rearrange things. I like to pull my bed around the house. It's my thing! I'm waiting for dad to get up so I can play with him. We wrestle each other. I'm a master wrestler.
It rained thru the night and lots of fluffy things were covering the sky this morning when mom took me for my walk. My walking route got slightly detoured because mom saw 2 huskies down the way that were romping around in their front yard. She didn't trust they would not come near me if we walked by so our route got detoured.
Let's see what else is happening in my world? Mom has been obsessing over my food. She has researched nearly every brand out there, she's still not convinced there's anything good enough for me. Can you say, obsessive? LOL!
I think dad is playing tennis today and hanging with my grandpa. Mom is doing errands and chores. Don't worry, I'm here to help with the chores. Or at least get in the way, that's helpful right? Mom's so lucky to have such a good helper like me.
Later I'll be wearing my Cowboys jersey. Yes, I have a jersey, my number is double zero...00! I have recently been learning to catch. Only a matter of time til I'm a rookie wide receiver. Or maybe a rookie "narrow" receiver. I'm not very wide. I'll be doling out high 5's every time the Cowboys score tonight.
Alright enough of this blogging stuff for now, I'm a busy little dude! Remember you can always catch me on the "gram" too....Instagram, that is! During a conversation mom and dad had yesterday, dad seemed surprised to know I have more followers on the "gram" than he does on his facebook account. #sorrydad #imapopularlittledude

Quick Snap Sunday
Spying on the neighborhood or performing a valuable service to the neighborhood as a watchdog? Hmm! I'm not sure? Watchdog is a bit of a stretch. He's not big on barking. I think overall that is appreciated by his parents. I can't stand little yappy dogs that bark at every noise.
With Landon someone has to knock on the door before he's going to bark. Someone can fully walk up the walkway to his house. Or kids can play in the street. Someone can park too close to his mailbox. Another dog can even walk down the sidewalk in front of his house and nothing comes out of his mouth. But knock on his front door and he's going to say something. Notice how everything was mentioned as if he owns the place. LOL! He's the dog...it's his domain, take note!
The Sandwich Story
There might not be very few that agree with me or sympathize with me on what I'm about to say. But I definitely know of one person that would agree and sympathize with me...that person is my cousin Jeff back in AZ. He will get this!
So there we are in the drive-thru of one of Brad's fave sandwich places, the sandwich place shall remain nameless for the purpose of this post. We've been to this sandwich place many times, at this particular location we were at I have experienced some issues. Some peppery issues! Therefore, while ordering Brad politely asks for them to leave the pepper off of his wife's sandwich, which is coarse ground pepper. The person taking our order then argues with him, saying they never use pepper. It becomes a small back and forth issue. Whatever! We get our order and head home. Sure enough my sandwich has once again been littered with coarse ground pepper. It might sound like it would be an easy fix to scrape off. And believe me I'm smart enough to think of that. But the type of bread seems to make it difficult as the pepper gets down into the nooks and crannies of the bread. Grr!
I will add this seems to be an issue with the location and type of sandwich I order. I've had the same type of sandwich many times before at other locations and not experienced the peppery issue. And the type of sandwich Brad orders never gets peppered.
Anyway, I really do not like pepper on my turkey sandwiches. Is that really a thing to put pepper on sandwiches? Am I and my cousin Jeff the only ones appalled at pepper on sandwiches? Perhaps! It just doesn't taste good to me plus it gets to the point where all I can taste is pepper instead of the actual sandwich. I guess that's why I prefer sandwich places where I can choose what goes on my sandwich.

Busy August Days
Oops I missed Quick Snap Sunday. Well things get busy at times around here. Actually things are always somewhat busy in some regard. Anyway, the days have been going by fast lately.
Brad was dealing with a toothache this past weekend. His toothache began last Thursday. He finally went to the dentist yesterday. We have dentists on every corner in our area. I'm only slightly exaggerating but he wanted to go to his old dentist and patiently waited until Tuesday for an appointment. Husbands! He ate a steady diet of ice cream over the weekend due to the toothache.
We had a little bit of rain this morning. Which was a nice break from the hot temps we've had. August has been a hot one. Although that's not surprising since it is August. Kind of glad we are approaching the halfway point of the month. I can deal with the super hot days winding down. ;) Special note to the rain....come back again soon!

Flashback Friday
Flashback to a sweet moment with my little girl. She used to sit under the table and chairs more often than she does now. In the mornings if I would stand nearby I would usually feel her little foot on mine. To me it was her way of saying, "good morning mommie". She still does this move but usually right when we get home from being out and about.
Nowadays since Landon has come along her morning routine is to wait at the end of the hallways for her little brother. Sometimes she attempts to catch him, trying to mess with his feet as he runs by. Even if she is trying to mess with him first thing in the mornings, at least they are both anxious to acknowledge one another.

Lantics! (Part 3)
Landon plus antics equals Lantics!!! He loves water! He loves sprinklers! He loves trying to jump up at the water hose nozzle. He loves drinking from the nozzle too. The last pic is the best in my opinion. The way he stands up in the direct aim of the water, enjoying every minute of it. The third pic isn't high quality but funny...he's trying hard to get at the nozzle.

Quick Snap Sunday
When toy playing gets wild. Landon says, "Um, a little help here? Please!" The toy got stuck at quite an interesting angle. I have a feeling this won't be the only time a toy goes flying and gets stuck somewhere. Just steer clear of the TV and the fish tank little dude! Actually I think both would be just fine if they got a toy thrown in their direction, his toys aren't that heavy. Most are plush or small latex toys. But Brad would likely still freak a little. :)
My 2 Cents
Here's a thought...a young man of the age of 24 can not walk into an Enterprise Rental Car agency and rent a car. He would be turned away. Must be at least 25 to rent a car. However, a 21 year old can go buy an AK-47 and not be turned away. What is wrong with that? I know there's a background check to get any gun but what about an age requirement for certain types of guns or weapons? To me if a person gets an AK-47 that's not a person that's scared for their safety and wants the ability to protect themselves. That's the type of person with maybe some other ideas floating around in their head. Disturbing ideas! Maybe even a special gun safety class or simple on paper psych test needs to be completed along with the background check to purchase military style weapons. I'm just saying 20 people might be alive right now here in Texas if that 21 year old that shot them with his AK-47 hadn't been able to purchase it in the first place because he did not meet the age requirement.
I'm not saying people shouldn't have a right to guns. Because in this day and age by all means, you deserve to be able to protect yourself. We have guns in our house. Brad even has a license to carry. Our reason for the guns in our house and in our cars is simply for protection. That's it. For some reason though when a person is interested in an AK-47 it tells me that individual is likely interested in something more than personal protection. I'm just saying! So perhaps an age requirement and maybe an additional parameter should be met.
May all those grieving in Texas be comforted! Unbelievably sad!

Saturday Activities
As I sat down to type this Landon jumped up and tried to type his thoughts too. Good thing I erased it because it made no sense. LOL!
Anyway, the rainstorm this morning was a bit surprising to me. I expected it to be overcast but I wasn't quite expecting rain. I walked Landon in the rain. He doesn't mind walking in the rain one bit. We didn't walk our full walk because I didn't want both of us returning home looking like drowned rats. Just a short walk though, let him feel the rain on his fur.
Let's see what else is going on? Landon is enjoying all of his new toys from his birthday. He really scored big with toys. Early this morning I ran around collecting all the loud squeaky toys before he had too much of a chance to start making noise and wake Brad up.
I'm not sure I've mentioned it on the blog or not? But Brad changed properties again...yes, again! He is now working in a completely different area of town. Pretty far away too. He's not exactly loving it. The property is beautiful and very new but the commute from our place is terrible. July 1st was the first day his company took over the new property. There's always a lot of things to do at the start of a new takeover. So the first 3 weeks he got home around 8:00 every night. As July wrapped up things were improving and computer systems were running more smoothly so his time of getting home has moved up some to 7:15. Hopefully, as more time passes his getting home time will improve even more. It usually takes a new company and new crew about 6 to 8 weeks to get all computer systems set without error. It's a lot to change out when there's a takeover: utility companies, billing companies, vendors, bank, and computer systems. Imagine the headache! ;)
As for tonight's activities, we typically play games on Saturday nights. Maybe not all evening but at least part of the evening is reserved for games. So let me end this so I get the laundry folded and move on to some gaming.

Flashback Friday
In honor of football season being right around the corner. It's Hall of Fame weekend and training camps are all underway. Football is back! This pic is probably about 4 or 5 years old, Brad expressing his Cardinal spirit! LOL! Yes, he still has this shirt and wears it often. Not as often as a Cowboys shirt but often enough to satisfy his AZ born wifey. :)
