Quick Snap Sunday

Rainy mornings usually means a little static clean for yours truly! Some of my beard hair and ears are having some minor issues. Mom assures me I'm still cute even with static cling. By the way, this is my "sleepy-oh brother I got static cling" look.

Anyone else organizing their day around the Cowboys game? My house is! Although nothing new with that. I haven't decided which Cowboys jersey I will be sporting for the last game of the season. Probably my blue one. I think the Cowboys will be in blue too. The new blue jerseys the Cowboys got at the start of the season have bothered my dad greatly. According to him, and he is an excellent source since he's a diehard born and raised Cowboys fan, the Cowboys wear white at home. But this season they have been mixing it up some and alternating with blue jerseys. So we'll see, will they be in white or blue for the last game of the season? Side note: my dad only mentions this blue jersey issue since they have yet to win in them. LOL!

The Looks

The look you give your mom, when she wants to try your new Fair Isle sweater on you when it's 70° outside. Really mom? Can't this wait until a day when I actually need a sweater? I'm melting, I'm about to start panting. My mom is a little obsessed with Fair Isle stuff. The Peterson side of her family is from Sweden, Fair Isle is popular in Scandinavia, so I've been told. Hence mom's attraction to Fair Isle patterns. For those that are unaware, Fair Isle is a popular style of knitting for sweaters. Now don't say you never learned anything from a dog if you didn't already know that.

Only because I have a good mommy, I decided to soften my glare and give her a nice look while wearing my new Fair Isle sweater. I guess because she was so overly excited to find a Fair Isle patterned sweater for my furriness. Now that I humored her with this sweet expression, hopefully she'll take this thing off me. We're still having a "heat wave" in December. I need a speedo and sunscreen not a sweater!

A Little More From Our Christmas

We're currently watching some of the NBA double header this fine Christmas evening. It's a little before dinnertime for us. I'll serve up the meal soon. Has everyone in Texas enjoyed this unseasonably warm Christmas week so far? This might be a record for warmest Christmases I've experienced here in Texas. Who would've thought it would be 70°? No sweater or sweatshirt for me. I teased my father-in-law last night at Christmas Eve that he was dressed for a summer barbecue in his shorts and short sleeve t-shirt. LOL!

Enough about the weather we are debating what Christmas movie to watch tonight. Will we turn to our movie library or Netflix? We've found some good ones on Netflix this year. For some reason I kind of want to watch Arthur Christmas? I guess I'm in the mood for an animated movie.

To end this post I'll finish with a few more Christmas pics from our little family of humans and furbabies. The pic in the middle is perhaps becoming a new tradition...the annual Landon and his daddy Christmas pic. I got a great pic of the two of them last year too.

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas from our home to yours!

We celebrated Christmas Eve at my in-laws house last night and today will be spent relaxing at home. We open our gifts on Christmas day. So today includes opening gifts, watching at least 1 Christmas movie(maybe 2), and of course playing with the "kids" and their new toys. Also as most know, I like traditions especially food traditions, so what's for dinner?....my traditional "red and green" meal with pie for dessert.  May anyone reading this enjoy time with family and a wonderful Christmas day!

A message from Landon...I went out early this morning to look for reindeer tracks. I'm not sure I saw any? Not sure exactly what I was supposed to be looking for either? I don't know if reindeers with a guy in a big red suit and a beard longer than mine stuffed my stocking and left me gifts or just my parents but no matter what I'm going to enjoy opening me some presents!

Quick Snap Sunday

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, it's 2 days before Christmas Eve and I'm busy making candy today. So all I have to say....Simon would be proud. Every time I look in our pantry and realize even though Simon is not here we still have an abundance of peanut butter. Peanut butter is still stocked as if two peanut butter loving pugs occupied our home in the physical sense. Here's to you sweet Simmie as you watch over us from the rainbow bridge.

P.S. this is actually the amount of pb after one jar was used up for peanut butter truffles.

Quick Snap Sunday

Today is our anniversary, above you see the flowers Brad gave me. He actually gave them to me late last night. He went out shopping last night. Looking for a copper gift was rather difficult and confusing to him.

Poor guy went out two different times yesterday trying to find something to meet the copper criteria and not be a waste of a gift. I tried telling him my copper gift for him isn't stupendous but it is useful at least. That's the kicker, trying to participate with the yearly gift theme but not get something useless. Brad still has to get his gift bag together so the bag in the pic is actually his gift from me. I know, what you are thinking...it's not very manly looking. And I agree, I don't like that there's such few options for "manly" looking gift bags in the anniversary department. It may slightly look pink in the pic...I promise...absolutely promise it's not pink. It's kind of a creamy color, the lighting makes it look weird.

Anyway, relaxing day watching some football and then we have reservations to go out later. Should be fun. We're going to the restaurant he took me to for our first date. :)

Sidekickin' It

I'm mom's favorite sidekick! This was me this afternoon out with mom. I go places people...I go places. Okay, so my list of places isn't too long but it's long enough. I even have a "furiend" named Tess at one of the places I go, she's a dachshund. She's just my furiend...don't get it twisted folks. I'm not looking for a girlfriend! I'm too young! Mom says I'll always be too young for a girlfriend.

I'll catch ya all later, I got to go play with dad and then watch Elf On The Shelf.

Christmastime and Anniversary Time

Christmas season is in full swing. I'm almost done with our Christmas shopping. I do a large percentage online nowadays. It gives me added joy to watch for items I ordered to arrive. I guess I'm like Brad's granny...granny loves getting packages in the mail.

Our anniversary is tomorrow, so my Christmas shopping was put on slight pause to instead go shopping for Brad's anniversary gift. This is the copper anniversary for us. I got this folks...I'm a Zonie, AZ is the copper state! Even the snakes in AZ have copperheads. Lol! Problem is I'm not in AZ, I don't have access to those touristy copper stores in local malls or downtown Scottsdale. Still I think Brad will like the copper gift I got him. Oh and as a bonus I was able to find something else for Brad that happened to come in the color of copper. Lol! As for our Christmas shopping, we're almost done. On Monday I plan on finishing up shopping for Brad and then we have a few other gifts to get. Hope to be done with buying Christmas gifts by the middle of this week.

Who is the hardest person on your list to shop for? I could say but I probably shouldn't say on a public blog. LOL! I can say one of our fur-babe's is kind of hard to buy for. I'll let you guess as to which one I'm referring to.

Quick Snap Sunday

After having two pugs and one of those pugs being a Simon a sight like above is still somewhat new to me and somewhat astonishing. Landon is not a finisher! He gets rawhides to a certain point then he's done with them. Soon I realize he's never going back to them and throw them away. The two rawhides above were stick rawhides.

I think Landon gets this from his dad. Father like "fur-baby son"...LOL! I'm sure hardly anyone out there knows this except for me. But Brad is terrible...I mean TERRIBLE at finishing certain food items: chips, soda, cereal, and candy. Of all those items he consumes about 2/3 maybe 3/4 of the total package then it gets tossed. For example, a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper he'll drink 2/3 of it then dump the rest of the 2-liter. According to Brad the flavors of those items changes too much towards the bottom. He drives me crazy sometimes with the amount of food items he wastes. If his parents only knew! Because believe me this is a BRAD thing, his parents did not teach him this.

On a completely different note, is the weather great or what today? I wore a light coat while out walking my little dude this morning and no coat to go to the grocery store after the long walk. I'm starting to think November and December got flip-flopped. Because November had some no joke chilly-willy days. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 75°...doubt I'll need a coat at all for the morning walk. I did look ahead this week and Tuesday will be mildly chilly but then the temp goes back up and stays rather steady for the week.  I have zero weather complaints...oh heck, even Cody would have zero weather complaints. Landon never has weather complaints...he's super versatile.

Crash Equals Pieces

There we were tucked into bed, at least 3 of the 4 of us were tucked in bed. There was one member of our fam that was not tucked in bed. That one member was roaming the house while we slept. It was about 3:00 AM when a crash was heard through the house. My eyes immediately popped open. Brad's eyes did not. He mumbled and grumbled and quickly rolled over. I was not settled once I heard that crash. I had to go see what occurred and make sure my fur-baby was alright.

As I made my way out of our bedroom and down the hall, there stood Piper near the Christmas tree. I breathed a sigh of relief to see she appeared fine and the tree was still standing. Although if it had fallen over I would've expected a bigger crash. Anyway I soon spot the item that made the crash and is now in pieces. One of our best ornaments is no more. It was annihilated by the cat-daughter.

One might assume when we put our Christmas tree up the younger pet would be more likely to wreck havoc on Christmas ornaments. After all the younger pet is in his pre-teen stage, his adolescent/teenager rebellion is coming. LOL!  Heck, even his daddy assumed we'd have issues with him. I however, assumed we would have zero issues with the little dude and continue to have issues with Piper. Every year Piper has climbed the tree, knocked ornaments off, or ripped paper on wrapped gifts under the tree. Overall she's rather mild. Or at least that's what I've been told by Brad. Brad says Storm was much worse with Christmas trees and ornaments. He says in Storm's early years he'd practically have to redecorate the tree almost every night when he got home from work as she had spent the day knocking the ornaments off. Thankfully Piper's not that bad. We definitely have to watch her close though. Cats are interesting too. Because there's little fear in them. They'll start doing stuff they aren't supposed to do while you are looking. As if they are enticing you to get mad at them. A dog would wait until it's left alone to mess with stuff. Am I right?

So we aren't even a full week into December and we are already down one of our best ornaments. Let's try to leave the Christmas destruction at just that one ornament, alright Piper? Hopefully she's in agreement!

Quick Snap Sunday

Things are beginning to look a lot more Christmasy around here, including me. I'm not sure what this is? An elf collar? A Christmasy court jester's collar? Or just something to annoy me with? These bells on this thing is bringing back memories of when I used to have to wear a cat collar because mom couldn't find puppy collars. Please mom, you got your pic now take this off of me...my ears are ringing thanks to these bells on this thing.

Morning Lantics!

Somebody was very difficult to keep quiet this morning while his daddy slept in. Somebody kept grabbing a noisy toy to run around with. Somebody also had to get rinsed off after his walk and getting rinsed off seems to always make him hyper so again he ran through the house like a little mad man. It was a morning of "Lantics"! But hey every Saturday morning usually starts with some Landon antics...Lantics!

Thanksgiving Weekend

It's been busy this week of course, who isn't busy on Thanksgiving week? But also I've just been enjoying family time. Thanksgiving weekend for us is always a "mini-staycation". In one sense it's been busy but once Thursday was over it's been more about relaxing and enjoying Brad's time off.

Thanksgiving was good. A nice time was had by all. The trip to get there was a little much. It took us a little over an hour to get to the site of the Turkey day celebration. Then again, back when granny still had her farm it was an hour to drive out to it when she hosted family holiday celebrations. Therefore, I guess we need to adjust our thinking and realize it's not that big of a deal to drive far for these occasions. However, the rainy chilliness made it more of an effort this particular year.

Due to the nasty weather on Thursday that continued all day yesterday too, we did nearly zero Black Friday shopping. We did go out a little, however, it just wasn't pleasant being out in the rain. Today however, has been great. I only needed a light jacket to walk my Landon this morning. Beautiful and sunny!

Now today is a lot about football, oh wait yesterday was too. Anyway, the duel in the desert is happening today. I will be watching. I actually already have my Sun Devil shirt on for the day.

Quick Snap Sunday

I am thrilled to say it was not a massacre last night out in the AZ desert, it was a beautiful game! The game had an outcome that moved me to jump up and down on our couch, my husband to laugh hysterically at me, my little dude to question my sanity, and my cat-daughter to run out of the living room. What a game!!! Ducks don't belong in the desert. Simple as that!

The pic above is from my phone. It's a condensed screenshot. The USA Today app featured the Sun Devils victory! This is so much better than any political headline, am I right? Recognize!

Blustery Autumn Continues

Oops, guess I was a little absent from the blog this week. Well let's catch up. Brad is still in bed, and it's past noon o'clock here. Anyone else like saying "noon o'clock"? I use it frequently although I know it's not "proper".

It's been a nasty weather week for us. Monday was good, then it was downhill from there. Blustery Autumn days with rain is what our weather has featured for a few days. Big bonus of it, the leaves on the trees are beautiful. It's reached the point in the season where the morning walk doesn't have to be first thing when I get up. Now it's all about letting the sun come out to warm things up some before we go out. I must admit it's more about what I can handle with any chilliness. Landon is a mystery to me still on how cold is too cold for him? I knew when we got him, he'd be fine with summer days since Havanese ancestry is from Havana, Cuba. But I must say I'm still a little surprised he handles cold weather so well. However his hair is thick, even when kept short, it's still thick and cozy. So far he's the most adaptable dog I've had. He has not experienced snow yet. We'll see how he likes that when/if it happens this winter.

Who has their Christmas tree up? We are putting ours up this weekend. I generally prefer waiting until after Thanksgiving but "turkey day" is kinda late this year. The Christmas season will be condensed. Earlier this week when we were discussing if we wanted to put the tree up a little early. Brad asked me if I thought Landon would be a problem and mess with the decorations? I laughed a little. I seriously doubt Landon will be a problem. He wasn't a problem last year, and he was in full puppy mode. He's still kind of a puppy, he's a pre-teen, I guess. I still would bet he's not the one we have to worry about with the Christmas tree and decorations.

Speaking very frank, our "problem child" is not Landon. Piper's not a big time problem child but she tests the boundaries more than he would ever think too. Landon detests getting in trouble. Like real trouble. He does silly little antics but nothing that requires much discipline. Piper on the other hand, has extremely frustrating downright maddening habits that nearly send her mommy over the edge. Overall she's pretty good for a cat. She has plenty of good qualities, but definitely more of a "problem child" than her little brother.

So part of the plan of the day is to put the tree up and another big part of my plan is to watch the ASU game. I was texting with my mom last night about the ASU game. It's homecoming for ASU, why on earth did they schedule Oregon for homecoming? ASU is not at the same caliber as Oregon. I fear what my little eyes will have to see today...a massacre! Yikes! I may need consoling later on this evening. Brad may need consoling after the Cowboys game on Sunday. I'm being a realist...I'm not so sure the Cowboys have what it takes to take down the defending champs in Foxboro. I say yikes, to that game too!

Quick Snap Sunday

Mercy me! More fluff head issues for me. Is this bed head or did I get stuck on tumble dry low?

Don't worry my mommie did fix this fluff head situation. She fixed it after she snapped some pics, of course. What is it with her and that picture taking thing?

Fluff Head Issues

Is this bed head or beard head? I don't know? But this is how I woke up. Mom laughed at me then snapped this photo. She also called me "fluff head". Mom said it's proof I slept good. I suppose I did sleep quite well. I stayed tucked in bed until morning. Trust me bed head, beard head either one is better than static cling. Static cling is annoying friends...believe me!

Quick Snap Sunday

We have been hosting a get-together for our nephew this afternoon. Our get-together is actually still going on. We have a few family members still here.

Now our get-together has transitioned from a birthday party to a Cowboys watching  party. So far the game isn't going so well for Cowboys but it's early...and as I finish this up the Cowboys score! Woo-hoo, go Cowboys! Cue the havanese to dole out high 5's!

Winning and Losing

I was not winning today. That look on my face is one of relief. Pure relief. Relief that my yearly appointment to get my shots is over. I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of a whiny baby when I'm at the vet. I refuse to not be in mom's arms, I whine and cling to her the whole time. Reminding her of one of my predecessors(can you guess which one?). I met an English Mastiff while waiting. Mom was trying to "show" me this mastiff like it was a baby chicken. In reality it was the size of a dino and my entire body was as big as it's paw. The mastiff was named Lily. Yep, mom was trying to get me on first name basis with this large dino-dog. Anyway, I made it through my appointment. My vet loves me! My vet said she was so excited to see my name on her patients list when she arrived to work today. I like my vet but after I got my shots she tried to give me a treat and I refused. That part of the appointment did not remind my mom of either of my predecessors. LOL! Since visiting the vet I'm a bit whiny still. I have no desire to eat. And all I want to do is lay somewhere comfortable, like mom's lap. Clearly I'm not the big winner of the day. Nope!

The winner of the day is Piper! After my vet appointment mom and I went to Petsmart to get Piper a different food. Piper just got food a few days ago but she went on a hunger strike and has refused to eat the new brand of food. Piper stops eating every time mom gets her "diet" food. She will eat "maintenance" food, but not "diet" food. Mom and Piper commonly have a stand-off concerning Piper's food. Mom's pretty tough but after about 3 to 4 days of Piper not eating her food, mom caved once again. Piper is winning the day!

Cutely Camouflaged

Greetings friends, surprised to see me on a Monday? Cowboys play on Monday Night Football, I'm ready for game time. I had to show my new Cowboys jersey off on the blog. You like it? I'm camouflaged, you can still see me though right? Hey, Cowboys if you need another player I'm ready. I've been practicing my skills. My strengths are catching and running.

Quick Snap Sunday

This is Piper thinking, "what is he up to now?" This is a big sister looking on as the little brother is up to his daily mischief. He's not that mischievous though. In her opinion he is, but not in my opinion. He's more rowdy. He is definitely on the wild side of things but not in a bad way. He makes a lot more fast movements than Piper is comfortable with. Which is why she is hanging out on the hearth looking on. Lol!

Halloween (Part 2)

It was almost impossible to get a good picture of both of my pirates. The look on Landon's face in the first pic is funny to me. He was trying to reach up to his hat, which is why Brad is holding both front paws. The look of mischievous defeat. LOL!

Bonus pic...downtown is decorated for Halloween night:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Argh! It's the pirate life for Landon and his parrot. His parrot is a little too heavy to sit on his shoulder. Lol! Ahoy my sweet furbabies!

Do I get bonus points for giving him dreads? He's channeling his inner Jack Sparrow. For those that don't know, Jack Sparrow is the main character in The Pirates of the Caribbean movies, played by Johnny Depp.

p.s. Check back later another pic will be posted!

Rainy Chilly Days

So far this week the weather hasn't been good. Today is day 3 of rain and chilliness. Last week we had a short preview of rainy chilliness too. Brad and I joked that we woke up to late December temps this past Friday. Well those wintery temps have continued so far along with the rain this week. Last night was a noisy one with all the thunder. My little dude did so well during the night. He stayed tucked into his bed all the way until morning. The thunder was so loud at times it kept me awake. Gee, do I dare say...I think Landon did better with the noisy thunderstorm dumping buckets of rain on us then his mommie. :)

So Landon was fine with the storm all night. He soldiered through it just like someone else I once knew used to soldier thru storms. But then this morning the little dude gave me a little chuckle. There I was outside with him for the first time in the early morning, immediately after doing his "business" a loud thunderous boom hit, he took off to get back inside like he was an Olympic sprinter. He didn't want that thunder to get him. LOL! Oh man, I laughed quite a bit. I honestly do not believe I've ever seen him move quite that fast. Overall, he handles the Texas storms very very well. It's quite impressive to me.

The only type of "storm" he has yet to tackle is a snowstorm. He hasn't seen snow yet! That will be entertaining to see him in the snow if it happens this winter? I have a feeling we will have snow at some point this winter, I don't believe snow will skip over us two winters in a row. I think because we didn't get snow last year, it may mean we'll get extra this year. We'll see!

Quick Snap Sunday

First off, where did the weekend go? As this Sunday evening marches along the fur-babies occupy one side of the couch, while their parents occupy the other. The biggest difference is the parents are channel flipping between 3 games on TV right now and are fully awake, while the fur-babes catch up on zzz's. However, they'll spring to their feet soon, as snacktime approaches.

Flashback Friday

Flashback to little Landon as an adorable pumpkin last Halloween! What will he be this year for Halloween? We shall see! Here's a hint, albeit not much of a hint, him and his big sister will be somewhat of a duo!

The Unending Phase

By far the most annoying issue having a cat-daughter is not what you might think. It's not cleaning her litter box. It's not wiping up hairballs or even dealing with her shedding. Nope, the most annoying thing is her freak outs. She is not a new to the world kitten. She's been around long enough to get used to our "society"...the society that exists in our household. I keep thinking she's going to "grow" out of this freak out phase. But I think after today I've completely thrown in the towel on that hope. This is just her! Freak outs are going to be part of her character forever. It's an unending phase.

So here's the story, Brad left his tablet on the side table that Piper eats at. Then I came along while cleaning and moved the tablet over some. She saw the tablet in the previous spot early this morning, but was later caught off guard when she jumped up on the table and immediately saw the tablet had moved. She freaked out like a cartoon cat. You know how in the cartoons the cat freaks out and is shown briefly running in motion before actually speeding away? Well that was Piper, exactly how it went. As she broke speed limits to speed away, her bowl with food in it went flying, a glass of water went flying, and everything else on the table went flying. Oh mercy!  I had such a mess to clean up. Cat food and broken glass mixed in with water. What a mess!

Sugar and spice and everything nice...I'm needing a reminder that it's fun having a cat-daughter! ;) Just kidding Piper, mommie loves you and it's always nice having a cat-daughter.

Quick Snap Sunday

The result of the doggo chasing the catto. The catto running to her safe haven, the bathtub. She knows doggo can't jump in the tub. She knows it's a waiting game now, no longer a game of chase All she has to do is just wait until he gets bored and moves on. He's a young adolescent doggo, his attention span is short. He'll move on soon! Catto one point and doggo zero!

Landon's Injury

There I was in the backyard with Landon playing fetch. He was enjoying himself. He loves chasing a ball. All of a sudden out of nowhere as he was running he screamed out, immediately stopping in his tracks. He started looking himself over right away. I was of course alarmed and rushed over to him. He couldn't walk on his back right leg. He was scared and whining a lot. I scooped him up and carried him inside. I set down on the couch and tried to look him over. He wouldn't let me near his leg. I worried he just broke it. I knew somehow I needed to determine if it was possibly broken. After a few minutes based on my observation I was sure it wasn't broken but I was still baffled as to what was wrong? However, nothing made sense except that he got bit by something. I continued to hold him as I tried multiple times to get a better look at his leg. He was no longer whining continuously. The fear in his face was starting to leave too. He was now whining only when I spent too much time trying to look close at his hurt leg.

I finally got a really good look at Landon's leg, thru all the fur he has. His fur is the likely the biggest difference between him and the pugs. I was able to determine he did get bit by something. Whatever it was he at least wasn't showing signs of being allergic to it. There was some redness and very slight puffiness at the site of the bite but otherwise I didn't notice anything that led me to believe he was in danger of having an allergic reaction. Been there, done that with Cody. He got stung by a bee once and had a reaction. It took quite awhile before Landon trusted his leg again to help him walk. I would say all of an hour maybe even a little more time had passed before he pretty much forgot to favor it and was back to walking fully normal.

These furbabies are our kids, when they cry out in pain it's something I don't take lightly. I'm right there and desperate to bring them comfort. Just as I would be if they were human kids. With this little guy I'm having to remember back to the "young" dog days. Most, not all, but most dogs as they age don't get as flustered as a young dog does with certain things. That was likely Landon's first ant bite, that's my assumption. We've been battling an ant problem lately. He's a youngin', so he freaked out a little! I'm sure it's very confusing as they don't understand it's just an ant bite, you aren't going to lose your leg. All they feel is that intense stingy at the time of the bite and they freak. Let me add, the ants in Texas are insane. The ants are bigger, badder, and bite so much harder...it's like you've been stung by a bee or a wasp, same type of pain.

Anyway he's good. Just have to keep him from itching it so it can heal. That's the real chore!

Quick Snap Sunday

Look at me! Am I bear? Am I still a dog? All it took was one chilly weekend and mom was digging thru my drawer seeing what to dress me in. She barely got this thing over my head before she squealed about how cute I look and grabbed the camera. She really is crazy for me! I'm pretty crazy about her too. Just to prove to her further that I really am her snuggle bear there we were snuggled up on the couch this afternoon watching football. Glad the Cardinals won out there in Phx. I've never been to Phx. But I hear about it from time to time. Anyway, we won't talk about the Texas sports this weekend. Things didn't go well. #sadbuttrue #eaglesupnext #watchouteagles #cowboysarehungry  #dontmesswithtexas

Random Friday Thoughts

The skies above the DFW area last night were angry. Pounding rain, loud thunderous booms, and plenty of lightening made sleeping a bit challenging. At one point I rolled over and said to Brad, "I think there's a conspiracy theory going on to keep me from getting enough sleep this week." Seriously it's been a bad week for sleep for me. I hope to catch up this weekend. It was Piper's fault one night this week but twice during the week it was Brad that woke me up to help him with stuff. On Wednesday night before coming to bed he realized a catastrophe had occurred in his tennis bag. There we were at 1:30 in the morning cleaning his tennis bag together. I commonly go to bed before Brad, which means he sometimes wakes me up to help him with something. Of course, I don't mind helping him. Just wish he could need help before I go to bed. Lol! Anyway, I hope that as the weekend arrives I can get some extra sleep.

Are we all getting ready for the big game tomorrow? Red River Rivalry day! Oklahoma comes to town to take on the Longhorns at the stadium on the State Fair grounds. I suggested to Brad that I could dress each furbaby to represent the two teams. One in red and one in orange. Brad was not for this idea at all. He quickly reminded me with great clamor both of our furbabies are Texans!! One is from Irving area and the other is from Fort Worth. So no chance I'm going to be allowed to dress one of them in Sooners red. LOL! However, I would like to add that local grocery stores are featuring plates, napkins, tablecloths, balloons, cupcakes, and even cookies decorated for either team this weekend.

Oh man, what would happen if I bought a giant cookie decorated with Sooners logo? Brad would never eat it and I'd likely have to sleep on the couch! Lol! I wouldn't want all that red frosting anyway. Total side note, but after all these many years why haven't they figured out how to make red frosting taste good? It's awful tasting. It always has been too! Anyone else share this opinion that red frosting tastes nasty? I love the color red...it's my favorite. Every year for a few years in a row Brad used to get my birthday cake with some extra writing on it, he'd always request red since it's my fave color. By the time we got married I had to clue him in that I don't like the flavor of red frosting.

And now to end this post I'll include a flashback Friday pic, of course it has to be of Piper since we just celebrated her bday...baby Pipey

Cat's eyes glow with the camera flash. Hey, Pipe remember the days when we could have accent rugs like the one you're standing on in this pic? Gone are those days. For some reason accent rugs she now destroys. She doesn't bother our big rug in the living room but any other accent rug is likely in trouble. #pipehatesaccentrugs #reasonwecanthavenicethings...jk

Piper's Birthday

Piper spent most of her day sleeping, as usual. She is the proud new owner of a toy banana and she got some treats too. Although I don't believe anything compared to that tuna cake. The first pic was taken early in the day before the rainstorm hit, hence the sunlight coming through the window. We are currently dealing with quite the storm as I type this. Brad's tennis practice was actually cut short by the rainstorm. However, he got home just in time to see Piper devour some of her cake. :) Once again, Happy Birthday my Piper girl! We love you! So glad daddy found you by that a/c unit at his work and brought you home.

Birthday Bag-Pipe!

Sugar and spice and everything nice, it's Pipey's birthday! Time to celebrate little girl. In this pic, does she look happy, annoyed, or willing to humor me? I think she's just humoring me. LOL! Hoping this bag moment leads to a treat. It did cross my mind to put her little brother in the bag next to her but I didn't want her to feel as though he was cramping her style. It's her bday after all!

In the bottom pic she's giving me half of a wink, perhaps she thinks her momma is cute! Just kidding. Typical birthday plan in place. She'll get a couple gifts and her tuna cake. I told myself I wasn't going to get her any toys because she is so beyond toys at this point. But I got her a couple toys and some of her favorite treats. What can I say? There's limited gift options for her. The last thing she honestly needs is any treats in "jumbo" form but nonetheless she will get a gift of "jumbo stuft" Temptations, which are her ultimate faves. Birthdays should be about getting your faves. Faves you don't have all the time. :)

Quick Snap Sunday

Does she come in peace and with good intentions? Or is she about to kiss me then bite me? Such questions roll thru my mind and my parents minds when my big sister approaches. She's a mystery wrapped in a riddle(I stole my mom's saying), but it's true. Piper's a mystery wrapped in a riddle. She's unpredictable. Dad says her bites are really kisses but I'm not sure I'm buying it. Mainly because she gives me a few "kisses" then the bite comes. I'm not nearly as unpredictable as she is.

3:05 AM

A few nights ago there I was snug as a bug in our bed. When all of a sudden I hear our lovely cat-daughter meowing at the door. I look at the time, it's 3:05 AM, what could possibly be wrong that Piper is waking me up at this hour? She's not the type that wakes us up much in the middle of the night, it's very rare. I immediately assume she must be sick. I sleepily got myself up out of bed to head towards our bedroom door. Piper meowed again real loud as I emerged from our bedroom. I was trying to get her to quiet down as I followed her thru the house. I kept asking her what was wrong. She kept meowing and seemed to be leading me somewhere so I followed her. Only to end up right at her food bowl...her empty food bowl. I was in disbelief as she continued to meow, looking back and forth from her empty bowl to me. I asked her if she was kidding? Yep I expected a response too. I got an extra meow! The desperate begging meow she's had since she was a newborn kitten. Mercy!

What did I do about her "non" problem? I told her she wasn't getting any food until "normal" breakfast time. I then pet her as I told her she's a piggy, then I went back to bed.

Free feeding doesn't mean wake mom up in the middle of the night when the bowl is empty. She's not going to completely starve to death from 3:05 AM until typical breakfast time. Trust me she has plenty of meat on her bones to last her, starvation is not a concern. The "hey mom, wake up I finished my bowl in the middle of the night" excuse is not going to garner a middle of the night refill. I can guarantee it!!!! But hey Piper, nice try!

Quick Snap Sunday

Starting to fall asleep during the Cowboys game. How dare him, right? Well I guess it's understandable since he had a super late Saturday night. Last night there was some early celebrating going on in our household. It was a low-key gathering but it made for a late night for all of us except Piper. She does her best to try to ignore company when company is here. She's in her own world. Landon is the opposite. He's where the action is. At times he's trying to be the action. Lol! It was 2:00 AM when he was in the kitchen performing to get an ice cube from his uncle Rob.

So after staying up til 3:30 AM with company and his parents, it's understandable that he was getting tired a little early tonight. Lol! Goodnight my sweet little dude!

Exciting Times! NOT!

We are an extremely exciting household today. Both of us are lounging around not feeling well. But we have very different issues.

Brad has an eye infection. He was trying to avoid going to the doctor but it got too bad, he couldn't handle it any longer. Thank goodness he finally went to the doctor because his wife has been bugging him to go all week. As for me, I guess I ate something that clearly didn't agree with me. My stomach is a wreck. I haven't had any more than crackers and dry toast today. So yeah, anyone want to come over? We're exciting household.

It's going to be a long night for us too. Brad has to have drops put in his eye every 2 hours even through the night. I'm not relishing the idea of hearing the alarm every 2 hours throughout the night. But that's what has to happen so deal with it, right? Right!

I feel bad for the little dude today because his mommy has not been too exciting today. I tried to walk him this morning but we got just a little ways and came back. I couldn't handle being out, my stomach hurt too much. It was very sweet though, after getting home from the extremely short walk, Landon realized I wasn't feeling well he laid beside me then nearly drowned me in kisses. In his mind he was doing all he could to make his mommy feel better. What a good little dude! Man, I love him!

Quick Snap Sunday

Sunday morning muffins. It's the smallest and perhaps lamest things that excite me from time to time. I was so excited to find these FOOTBALL liners. I mean come on the makers of these liners totally had me in mind. My husband wasn't as enthused. Only because he would have preferred chocolate chip banana pancakes and me making cupcakes later on today to use the liners. But instead he got chocolate chip banana muffins for brunch. However, I think he got over his no pancake disappointment after he ate his 2nd muffin, with peanut butter on it. Oh this man I married and his peanut butter obsession. LOL, it cracks me up at times. Pancakes, waffles, muffins...they all get slathered with peanut butter by Brad.

Gotcha Day! (One Year)

One year ago today I was shocked as heck! The night before, which was a Thursday, Brad had asked some questions. Specific questions about the next pup to enter our world. He asked if I was sure about a Havanese? He also asked, what I wanted the next dog to look like...color-wise? I didn't think too much of the conversation we were having. However, I did text my mom telling her about his questions and telling her it was slightly odd. Odd, because up until the night before Landon arrived Brad had kind of been...shall I say, "playing it cool". Making it seem as though another dog was something I was going to have to wait awhile for, like months and months. During my texting conversation with my mom I ended it by saying maybe it means the next little pup isn't as far off as I think. But that was the only wish I was taking from the questions Brad was asking. However, the next morning arrived and again Brad asked if I was 100% sure I wanted a Havanese? Once again I thought the timing of the question was odd. Especially to be chatting about the next dog first thing in the morning before he heads off to work. I started thinking to myself...'is he really planning on getting me another dog soon?' However, overall I kept thinking...'no, there's no way he's going to venture down that road of picking out the next pup'. To be honest I tried hard to not think about it any further because I didn't want to get my hopes up then be disappointed. For the rest of the day I didn't think about it at all.

It was a stormy day and kind of dark out. All of a sudden I heard some noise outside, I thought it was the weather, I never got up from my computer to look out. Then I suddenly heard a key opening our front door, next thing I know Brad's entering the house. I was of course surprised to see Brad at this time of day as it wasn't time for him to get off work yet, plus he didn't come in through the garage which was surprising too. He explained he had some stuff in his car and asked me to come outside real quick. Since it was sprinkling I walked only a few steps outside and stood under the archway of our front door as he walked over to his car and reached in to pick something up from the front seat. I was stunned, shocked, speechless as he handed me the cutest little fluff ball ever. Landon had officially "landed" in our world, landing in the arms of an extremely shocked mommie.

Oh my goodness what a delight this little dude is. He's dynamic and extra special. Not only was his timing special but it's just him, the little dude he is. He has a great personality, was easy to train, never has a bad mood and is super affectionate. He's a love bug yet he's a rough and tumble little boy. He follows me around, assuming a sense of purpose to watch over me just like Cody did. He's got that quick agility and runs on turbo speed like Simon did. He stays up late and sleeps in like Cody used to do. He empties out the toy box searching for one particular toy just like Simon used to do. He roughs up his blankets and plays fiercely like Cody. He's easy to please and as schedule oriented as Simon. He is an amazing combo of both of his predecessors. At the same time though he is uniquely himself...my sweet little Landon! The pick of the litter! Happy Gotcha Day, little dude! Extra kisses for you today...and everyday!

Below is the first video of Piper and Landon meeting each other one year ago today. She snuck up behind him and he turned to greet her. Best part is the very end when she does that skittish jump thing cats do when they are afraid of something. I remember the moment well. Glad we caught it on video!

10

Bonus post today, Quick Snap Sunday and this special post because...ten years ago today Brad and I went on our first date. Little did I know at the time he'd end up being my husband. Ten years spent with such a handsome, caring, unbelievably sweet, and rather goofy man. Thanks for finally asking for my phone number and not giving up on getting the phone number when I tried to just give you an email address. You are the best part of every day! You are the best part of me! I love you more than you will ever know! My sweetness!

Side Note: Anyone else in disbelief it's been 10 years? Ten years! A decade! Which also means I've lived in Texas for a decade now. Moved here in May and started dating Brad 4 months later in September.
