Quick Snap Saturday

Move Over Fur-Babies!

After quite a few weeks with our furry kids being featured on Quick Snap Saturday the "fur-babies" must move over in favor of the two people that love and care for them. I decided it was about time for some humans to grace the blog. LOL!

This pic got the nod today! Brad's fave color is blue and mine is red. Funny how when we got together my wardrobe got a lot more blue in it and his got a lot more red in it. Just the other night he appeared in the living and proudly announced he was wearing his AZ Cards shirt with red shorts. He was patterning his outfit after the Cards all red uniforms. Too funny!

Don't worry I often return the favor, so to speak. I sure do have a lot of blue now! Since the play-offs started I've worn a Mavs shirt for game-time. The Mavs are in a deep hole down 3-0 in the series, maybe I need to wear Rockets red tomorrow night? Not how we anticipated the post-season going for the Mavs, but what can you expect when they're down to only 2 starters from the regular season in their starting line-up for the play-offs. Injuries have hit the Mavs big time! Fingers-crossed they can pull off a victory tomorrow night! I'll be wearing blue and I'll have my blue pom-pom out!

So This is What 3:45 A.M. Looks Like!

So what were you doing at 1:00 am? What were you doing at 2:45 am? How about 3:45 am, were you sleeping soundly?  Good for you!  I wasn't!  Am I awake right now? Or am I sleep walking? I think I'm sleep walking!

I don't know why but it's harder on me to be getting up in a startled manner, calm down to go back to sleep, then get up, then back to bed, then get up AGAIN, then it is to simply stay up!  I think it's the added anxiety of being awakened so many times. Interrupted sleep is not restful at all!

Why was I up so much?  My poor little Simmie was not feeling well. It was quite the night.  I didn't have to check on Piper on her first few nights with us back when Brad first found her and brought her home as much as I had to check on Simon last night. I would no more than get him settled down and myself settled down only to be startled awake by his whining and barking.

There I was outside our building at literally all hours of the night, muttering to myself, "so this is what 3:45 am looks like outside". By the time dawn's early light broke I decided I was done trying to go back to bed, just stay up.  All pets were up and at it early!  Thankfully Simon has improved as the day has gone on. Whew! Thank goodness for Pepto!

This is slightly funny! It wasn't at 3:45 am but now it's a tiny bit funny to me.  When taking Simon out at the lovely time of 3:45 in the morning as I turned to lock the door behind us I dropped his leash. For some reason I was struggling to get the door to lock(likely due to my sleep deprivation) it took me a second to lock the door, well Simon was not waiting. He was gone! He took off hotfooting it to the elevator.  There I am half dazed literally running down the hall to catch up with him.

I got through the first half of my day without too much issue. By the time mid-afternoon arrived I was considering becoming a coffee drinker! I've never been a coffee drinker only the occasional sip of Brad's or the seasonal sampling of something new at Starbucks. Otherwise coffee isn't for me.

I'll be hitting the hay early that's for sure! I know there will be many more nights like last night especially once we add a human kid to this crazy mix! Oh well, I'm overall happy to be able to take care of anyone in the household needing to be taken care of.  I'll gladly suffer through lost sleep!  No biggie!

Quick Snap Saturday!

Munchy Sticks for Piper!

Look at what I found at Petco the other day....munchy sticks for cats! Can you believe it? I couldn't either. But how awesome! For cats that have dog's as brothers these are perfect, or should I say purrfect! Piper sampled her first one tonight!

Now when the boys get a munchy stick Piper can have a munchy stick too. She didn't know exactly what to do with it at first. She sniffed it. Backed away from it. Then sniffed it again deciding this time to try nibbling the munchy stick. She took a few breaks but finally finished it.

Definitely kept her busy for a little while as opposed to her gulping her "kitty-cat bones", that's what we call her cat treats. She has learned well from big brother Simon, she gulps those kitty-cat bones.  He must be so proud of his protégé! LOL! At least now she has something a little more comparable to her brother's night time treats.

Purrfecting Some Skills

Piper's got skills! Of course she has the typical cat skills! She jumps, sometimes just to see how high she can get.  She has quick "feline" movements. And she meows, super well. Trust me! That skill she has certainly purrfected!

As a little tiny kitten Brad began helping her develop her hockey skills, with the hockey puck being an ice cube.  She's far too "advanced" to use such things as a REAL puck! ;) She scores a goal all the time, every time the ice cube goes racing under our fridge....SCORE!

Apparently now she has decided to develop some basketball skills. Perhaps she was inspired by March Madness last month or is purrfecting her skills to see if the Mavericks would like to sign her just in time for the play-offs to begin! Anyway, she's taken to bouncing or dribbling if you will! She's an aspiring point guard! ;)

The other day I was preparing Brad's lunch.  I got everything ready for him. All he had to do was come in and sit down to eat.  His chips were on the coffee table where he prefers to eat as was his drink and sandwich waiting for him in a sandwich bag.  I worry about it staying fresh so it gets put in a bag until he actually arrives. I know I'm weird!  Anyway, I'm in the kitchen continuing to work on some food prep items.  Next thing I know I hear a weird noise. I listen close but I didn't look over to the living room.  I continue doing what I'm doing. I hear the noise again, this time it's louder. And now I hear some splashing accompanying it. This issue has my full attention now! I couldn't see over the furniture from the kitchen so I began walking over to the living room near the coffee table. There sits Piper on the coffee table. I'm not fond of her getting on the coffee table, it rarely happens but it does happen from time to time. Big no-no though for her to be on the coffee table when there's food. However, when mommie's back is turned, pugs and cat might try to get away with something. There she was sitting next to the glass of juice that had 3 ice cubes in it. Her paw was ever so gently resting on the top of the glass. She then bounced the ice cubes floating on top all the way to the bottom. Hitting them hard enough to cause them to reach the bottom and to make a slight splash. She again waited with paw on the edge of the glass as the ice cubes made their way back up to the surface then gave them another good bounce. She had her own ice cube dribbling game going. Needless to say I quickly let her know this behavior was to cease ASAP.

Sorry Pipe, go purrfect your dribbling skills somewhere else! Somewhere where there's no splashing going on! These pets! I tell you, what little games they don't think of to invent! She was likely proud of herself! Thinking that she was really accomplishing something by bouncing the ice up and down. I wasn't really mad at her, it was kind of enduring! I did let her know though that was not to be tolerated!

Quick Snap Saturday!

Sneaking Outside!

Look who is sneaking outside onto the balcony!  Balcony Pipe! Oh she would love to become balcony Pipe! We don't allow her on the balcony unless extremely guarded by us.  I think in her 18 months of life she's been on the balcony a total of 4 times. This afternoon she racked up trip #4 outside.

I was taking pics and left the door open slightly for the boys. Out came little Ms. Piper wanting to check out all the action too. I went ahead and let her, as I watched her close. She was simply sniffing things. She walked over to my plants for some sniffing action. She also took turns following her brothers. We weren't out there long, I watched to make sure she didn't get too close to the railing. That's the part that makes me most nervous, she's small enough to slip through the railing. Scary!

Needless to say this will not become a regular occurrence because it makes me too nervous but once in awhile when I can focus on her or when both of us are out on the balcony I think it's good for her to have some exposure to the great outdoors. It's kind of like watching a toddler around water, don't divert your eyes for a moment.  She doesn't understand how high up we are I'm sure of it. And she doesn't understand one wrong move and there's nothing below to catch her. So yes, it's very similar to watching a small child around water or a small child playing in the front yard.

More Easter Pics

Bonus round of Easter pics.

Pic 1:  Simmie looking up at me. He like the camera!

Pic 2:  Simon looking back to see if his little sister is breaking into anything she shouldn't be breaking into. This was taken about 10 seconds before Simon tipped the Easter basket over in an effort to really sift through the goods!

Pic 3:  Piper checking out the Snickers while Simon sniffs the tuna can and the Easter grass.

Pet Tales: The Line-Up

Time for a special pet-tales edition. There's always a line up in our household. A line-up to get to the water bowl. A line-up to get a treat. And every morning there's a line-up to get teeth brushed. Yes, the entire trio gets their teeth brushed now. Brad said I'd never be able to get a cat to want her teeth brushed. Guess who was wrong about that? Piper gets her teeth brushed every morning and loves it! Brad's still a little surprised! She has her own toothbrush and toothpaste. She patiently waits behind her bros each day for her turn to come.

Okay now moving on to my story....The Line-Up! The other day we had a different kind of a line-up. A mess had occurred and I needed/wanted to know who caused the mess. I ordered all pets to be front and center as I stood next to the mess. I carefully analyzed their behavior as I questioned them. I quickly determined Simon was innocent. As quickly as I determined Simon's innocence. Brad turns to me to ask, "Why did we eliminate him so fast?".  I replied, "That's just not his guilty face."! Cody looked clueless! Not exactly out of the ordinary for Cody to look clueless but he was in total disgust about being questioned over such a mess. Piper kept looking at her brothers, as if she needed help in determining how to act during this interrogation. Of course I have no verified proof but I'm nearly 100% sure the youngest in the house caused the mess.

It was quite funny to watch their reactions as I questioned them. Simon was clearly innocent and giving me the look of "Mom, I didn't do it!". Cody's look was, "Come on you know I'm old enough and far more dignified than to cause a mess like that! Piper's look read, "I hope they look more guilty than me." Yep it was the youngest! No doubt!

Catching Up!

Time to catch up this blog!  It's been too long. The lead up to Easter just made me extra busy. I tried to find time yesterday to post, no such luck. The day's focus was elsewhere. I planned on doing a Quick Snap Sunday edition, obviously that didn't happen so now we have double the pics below. Double pic Monday!

Hopefully, everyone reading this had a great Easter. We sure did. The day started early! It was a rainy chilly day for us. It may be Spring but we were dressed like it was still February. LOL! The temps were back to normal for this time of year today. In the last 10 days or so it's been quite nice. A few chilly mornings plus a chilly Easter otherwise all is good in the weather department. Makes Cody a nicer sibling when the weather is pleasant!

We spent the day at Brad's granny's house along with lots of other family members. Upon getting home from granny's we had a movie night. Not just any movie night though, we had to watch Hop! I love the movie Hop! It has become tradition for us to watch Hop around Easter. This was our 3rd year of watching it. I think it was the first time though we saved it to watch on Easter night. Lots of fun! Of course it's far-fetched but it's a feel-good movie with plenty of good one-liners. Guaranteed to laugh a few times if you watch it. But understand it's a kid movie so it's a little out there. A talking rabbit...yeah, a little out there! We're both still kid's at heart so we enjoy a cute talking rabbit! LOL!

Yes, the Easter bunny visited our place. He had to come inside this year to leave the goods by the window on the account of the rain. He left behind plenty of peanut butter options. Peanut butter candy options for the adults in the house and jars of pb for the boys. As for the Pipey-Pipe, tuna! Of course!

Here are Simon and Piper checking out the goods....(Cody was still in bed, he's never been an early riser. Always the last to go to bed and the last to get up.)
