Almost Done

Bubsy: A cold Thanksgiving break is almost done. Turkey day is done but the cold remains. What was your favorite part, sissy?

Sissy: Of course, having mom home with us. It might be difficult to see her go off to work tomorrow morning.

Bubsy: I agree! It’s been fun. Mom, however, could’ve relaxed more than she has. But nothing new there.

Sissy: She doesn’t know how to relax. Although she’s doing pretty good this afternoon, so far. She’s watching the Texans play the Jaguars.

Bubsy: Are you sure she’s relaxing watching the Jags? She’s so obsessed with them and there’s so much cheering and hollering going on, I’m not sure it’s relaxing. 🤔

Sissy: Don’t worry, I’m relaxing enough for myself and mom. 😉

Bubsy: The other noteworthy thing about Thanksgiving weekend is that it’s now Christmastime, so mom says. The parents spent time on Friday putting up our Christmas tree and decorating the house.

Sissy: It took them forever to put the tree up. They had issues with a string of lights going dark in one large section. They spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to solve the issue.

Bubsy: I took about three naps while they were working on the light issue. But before my napping I was extremely helpful unloading one of the Christmas bins. There’s a video at the bottom of this post just to prove how helpful I am. 😉

Sissy: Well bro, let’s snuggle up with mom as she gets ready to watch the Bills and Eagles.

Bubsy: That’s not going to be a quiet game to watch with these parents of ours. Dad hates the Eagles. He’ll be cheering against them. And so will you, little sissy.

Sissy: Yep, not an Eagles fan. Something about that mascot of theirs freaks me out and I start barking my little head off.

Bubsy: Hope everyone had a good turkey day and got some Christmas shopping started too. Mom said she’s done quite a bit of shopping online. In case anyone is wondering sissy and I, have yet to start our shopping. Have a good week, friends! 🐾

Happy Thanksgiving

We shall keep this short on words today. Just dropping by to post our Thanksgiving day pic and a bonus pic of me in the hat mom made for her students. Hope everyone out there has a wonderfully yummy turkey day. We can hardly wait for our turkey day treats. 🦃

Big News

Bubsy: Boy, do we have BIG news! So someone in our house can be extra thankful on turkey day, because someone just landed a new job!

Sissy: I was rather confused at first about all the excitement.

Bubsy: Confused by what? How it all went down?

Sissy: Well yes! I was stunned.

Bubsy: Yes, it is stunning. Dad has been looking for a job since July. Now prepare to be stunned…Dad is NOT the one that just scored the new job.

Sissy: Nope, not dad. It’s momma!!!! Our mom decided to take the advice of a friend to try for a job at a new school opening in January. It was a total whim that mom even decided one night to send in her résumé. And since October she’s been going thru the motions and requirements for the new school. Which included multiple rounds of interviews and an extensive reference checklist. She totally was not thinking it was going to happen. And she was fine with it not happening, since she already has a job she loves.

Sissy: Then BAM….yesterday she got news…she’s been hired as the very first teacher for her level. Oh my dogness!

Bubsy: Oh my dogness is right! Dad was floored when he got home from getting his haircut and heard about it. I’m not sure he thought she’d get the job either. 😉 It won’t be easy for her to leave her current teaching job but overall this is a better opportunity…better pay and better benefits. The benefits was the key reason she even entertained the thought of sending them her résumé.

Sissy: All the details will get finalized early next week when she goes to sign her contract. I hope they pay her well, because I have needs. 😉

Bubsy: Oh sissy! You have needs that money can’t buy. Like an attitude shift, just kidding. I’m used to your sassy behavior. Anyway, things will be interesting next week. And as for this long holiday weekend, we begin it knowing momma for sure has the job! Woohoo! 🎉

Thanksgiving Week

Bubsy: Above is a pic of the dry erase board that is on our fridge. Our mom is ridiculous about writing and drawing silly things on it each day. Now to more important things…how are you doing, sissy? Feeling better?

Sissy: I’m back to normal but yesterday was a little ruff.

Bubsy: We learned something yesterday about sissy. Her little system can’t handle treats made with duck. No more duck for her. 🦆

Sissy: Clearly, I’m not the only one that can’t handle duck. The sun devils can’t handle ducks either. They got devoured by them yesterday. Duck, duck, they laid a goose egg.

Bubsy: 🤣…lookout sissy is throwing shade.

Sissy: Enough about that, what else is up?

Bubsy: Let’s see…how about we state the obvious…it’s Thanksgiving week. Which means mom is extremely busy. She’s got her ingredients for everything after another trip to pick up groceries. Tomorrow she’ll make a dip after she gets home from work. Clean the house on Tuesday after work, then Wednesday it’s an all day baking event. How much of these kitchen sessions will you be attending, sissy?

Sissy: None of it. I’m not a hang out in the kitchen type of pupper.

Bubsy: I’ll be in and out of the kitchen to check on her progress. But neither of us hangs out in the kitchen much. However, when mom has long baking sessions she’s been known to bring a bed for me in the kitchen and I’ll lay down.

Sissy: He loves a nice cozy bed. I love the couch and a bed at night. So if mom drags the couch into the kitchen I’ll be happy to lay on it while she bakes.🤣

Bubsy: In case anyone was wondering it’s raining again here. Lots of rain since fall officially started.

Sissy: Too much rain. ☔️ But at least my Uber has been very good at giving me a Lyft when I venture out to the backyard.

Bubsy: Impressive word play, sissy! Uber and Lyft I’ve never used either company. My feet get me where I want to go.

Sissy: Oh geez, we are currently working hard typing this post but all of a sudden mom has erupted with her yelling/cheering at the TV. She’s busy watching the Bills. She’s obsessed with the Bills and Chargers.

Bubsy: Don’t forget the Jags. She likes the up and coming quarterbacks of those teams. So if either of those teams is on tv she’s definitely tuned in. Well it’s time to wrap this up and get on with our day before tonight’s interesting football matchup…Vikings and Broncos. Our pic below features the first of what is likely a lot more to come of seeing sissy and I in plaid. This time of year mom gets a little mad about plaid. 😉 Have a great Thanksgiving week!

Sissy: And check in on Thursday to see our special turkey day post. 🦃

The Melee

Bubsy: Who should tell this story, sissy? We had a crazy week. It was a true rollercoaster. 🎢

Sissy: Your life flashed before my eyes not once but twice. First we suffered thru more rainy weather. It’s like we live in Seattle or something. Then on Wednesday I witnessed Bubsy getting stabbed repeatedly. I was astonished once again, when mom stood by and calmly let him get stabbed as she chatted with the perpetrator(the vet).

Bubsy: Oh geez, pardon my ultra dramatic sissy. I went to the vet and got my shots. I’m in optimum condition and the vet said I’m “extra” lean. Sounded like a good thing to me so I was happy. And mom seemed happy too.

Sissy: For those that aren’t aware, our mom always takes both of us when one of us has to go to the vet. I love going to the vet when it’s Bubsy getting shots or tended too. Because I get treats and no suffering for me occurred.😉

Bubsy: I literally limped for a day after my shots. It wasn’t until Friday that my limp went away.

Sissy: It’s a good thing you were back to 100% by Friday because you needed to be on your “A” game.

Bubsy: Now for the long story…It was a beautiful Friday morning. The rain had dried up and it was perfect weather. There we were on our walk. It was our quick walk we take right before mom leaves for work. We had just turned the corner to head towards our house, when all of a sudden a unleashed dog came darting at us. Mom stepped in front of sissy as she tried to grab me. The other dog seemed to be after me. He was chasing me in a circle. Mom got knocked down, she felt sissy behind her still. She grabbed me and pulled me close to her. The other dog was trampling us, mainly mom. The owner of the dog finally got a hold of her dog and started to walk away. The owner of the dog never apologized. Never offered to help mom up. Never asked if any of us were okay. The owner of the dog said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO OUR MOM. As mom got up she looked behind her and sissy was gone. Completely vanished. Nowhere in sight. Mom hit the panic button. She yelled to the other dog’s owner, “where is my littlest dog?” The other dog’s owner did not respond and never said a word to mom. Another neighbor ran to the scene to help mom. Mom checked me over quickly, then handed me to the neighbor that came to help us. The neighbor took me to clean me up, I was a very muddy boy. Meanwhile, mom stayed outside looking for sissy. Mom ran up the street and around the corner and no sissy. Then another neighbor yelled down the street to mom that sissy was standing at our front door. Mom was very overcome with emotion and adrenaline and ran home to sissy. The neighbor that took me to clean me up for mom soon brought me to our front door too. I had no injuries from the melee but mom is a little banged up. She’s got some bruises from the big dog stepping on her, as well as a sore elbow from using it to intervene between me and the big dog. We have no idea how or at what point sissy left the scene. But clearly she left the scene.

Sissy: I like getting sassy but I don’t like to stick around to possibly become a snack for a big dog so I was outta there.

Bubsy: I’m very glad you were unharmed sissy. But running from mom is not good. However, these were special circumstances. I think you have proven you are a believer in the philosophy of “every man for himself”. But you’ve also proved you know home. And you know where your safe place is.

Sissy: I am unlike that other dog. I would never think to leave my home to dart after another dog or animal.

Bubsy: But sissy, can you imagine the panic attack you gave mom when she got up from being stepped on by a huge dog and you weren’t anywhere in her sight.

Sissy: I regret that part. But my instinct to get home to my safe place took over in the midst of the melee.

Bubsy: Mom of course wishes the whole thing never happened but she’s happy neither of us was hurt. She said she’d rather have a few injuries than deal with one of us being injured.

Sissy: I guess, she’s a typical mom. Whether you are a mom to human kids or fur kids, a true mom would rather be injured then see her kiddo injured.

Bubsy: In other news, we’ve enjoyed a fun but low key weekend. We had company over last night so we stayed up extra late. Today has been rather low key and we are currently missing the first part of the Cowboys game to post this. Perhaps, we should wrap this up and get to the game. Have a beautiful week, friends.🐾…And as you can see in the pic below, sissy was being a bit lazy with her posing during this photo shoot. 📸

Texas Size

Bubsy: What a week it was. How are you doing, sissy?

Sissy: It was a bit of a rollercoaster week.

Bubsy: Let’s review things for the people at home. First up, our weather. Mercy me, shiver my timbers!!! We had record coldness for Halloween. The cold weather lessened just a bit by Halloween night but clearly the weather put a damper on the trick-or-treating. 🍬🎃

Sissy: Mom was bundling us up every time we went out. You’ve heard of a “hot mess”? Well I was more like a cold mess 🥶

Bubsy: She’s hot tempered and a mess 99% of the time so the term “hot mess” fits her. 😉 Thankfully the oddly timed cold snap has left and our temperatures have returned to normal. We didn’t need jackets this morning and mom is back to wearing short sleeves.👍 This past week was finally a little busy for dad. As he had to serve jury duty and got put on a case for two whole days. Hmm, what else happened this week?

Sissy: We had time change in the wee hours of the morning. We actually got to walk in the light of the day thanks to that hour disappearing. Where the hour went is beyond me but I was told to enjoy it disappearing because it’s the last time it will happen.

Bubsy: That’s right sissy. This will be the last time we turn back the clocks. In springtime we will spring forward and we will STAY FORWARD!!!! Legislation has made daylight savings time PERMANENT. So when it comes back around in March of 2024 it stays and never leaves. Year round we will be two hours ahead of AZ, where momma’s family lives. Enough about that boring time stuff…what else happened this week, sissy?

Sissy: I dressed up as Piglet.🐷

Bubsy: We already know that. What else happened, some craziness exploded along about Wednesday. Do you recall?

Sissy: Oh geez, how can I forget. First things were weird because dad couldn’t sit still late Wednesday night. He kept pacing the floor. Meanwhile, mom seemed rather calm as she texted with two different cousins of hers in AZ. And then…

Bubsy: And then…it happened, the last out happened. And our house immediately exploded in loud hooting, hollering, and jumping up and down on the couch. Never seen dad jump up and down on the couch before. Next thing we knew dad was grabbing champagne and we were dodging a champagne cork that flew out of the bottle while mom attempted to cover my ears and sissy’s ears.

Sissy: It wasn’t just inside our house that was loud, the outside soon caught up. Lots of honking of horns, loud yelling, and music filled the air outside for a few hours.

Bubsy: Going to bed at a decent time did not happen for mom or myself or anyone else in the city limits.🙉 For those that might be clueless what happened in our area on this past Wednesday…the Texas Rangers won the World Series! For the first time EVER!

Sissy: Our city has been on quite the high since Wednesday. You can’t go anywhere without seeing shirts, flags, or even billboards marking this special achievement.

Bubsy: Schools and workplaces even closed early to allow students and parents to go to the parade on Friday.

Sissy: I think our city has celebrated big!

Bubsy: Like they say, “everything is bigger in Texas”. The first ever World Series celebration has been Texas-size! Only negative is, the victory came against mom’s hometown team, the Diamondbacks. But it’s okay, she’s in a house full of Texans so she’s been forced to celebrate too.😉🎉…Now the pressure is on, come on Cowboys catch the title fever and go win a title this season!

Sissy: Oh geez, not sure I can handle that kind of celebration again just three months from now.😬

Bubsy: Don’t worry sissy, you can handle it. Now let’s wish the people out there a good new week and go catch some zzz’s before the Cowboys game. And lastly, big congrats to our home team…the Rangers!
