Quick Snap Sunday: Pre-Birthday Celebrating

Pre-Birthday Celebrating!

Well it's that lovely time of the year, time for me to mark an occasion, a birthday occasion! Woo-hoo! This is the dessert my husband surprised me with last night. I originally told him not to get a cake. Because I wanted to save "cake-time" for my actual birthday. Yet he couldn't resist sneaking off to the store while I was out walking the pugs to pick out this lovely berry version of a Boston crème pie. But hey, he stayed within the rules....it's not a traditional cake, it's a dessert!  He had a coy smile on his face as he explained that important note!  All I have to say is he made an excellent choice! A great dessert option, the real cake is yet to come! That's all whipped cream on top and in the middle! Piper loves whipped cream. She was hoping she would get some, no such luck.

Last night we had a small get-together with my in-laws, we went out to a somewhat new restaurant to our area. Brad and I had visited the restaurant one time prior to last night. All in all it was a great night. The restaurant bar area got a little loud at one point because TCU and Texas Tech were finishing up their game as we were seated. It was kind of funny to hear the roar as the game ended. Gotta love football in TX!

The Cat Litter Story

The other day after Brad had been home for awhile he needed to get something from the closet where Piper sleeps(aka Pipe's room). A minute or two later he arrives back out in the living room and asks me how come there's a 42 lb. bag of cat litter in Pipe's room? I was slightly baffled. Is this a trick question? I responded, "What do you mean? Piper needed litter and I got some for her box." Now Brad is the one appearing baffled! We were taking turns giving each other baffled expressions.

He then says, "I don't get it!" My response, "Get what? She needed litter, I bought litter." Brad then says, "But it's a 42 lb. bag, the biggest they make."  I then explain I got a great deal on it. Brad interjects, "I'm confused...you lifted a 42 lb. bag of litter off the store shelf and put into a basket? Then took it out of the basket, put it in the Pathfinder? Then unloaded it and carried it down these long hallways to our place? How is that possible, it's a 42 lb. bag?" I chime in with, "Yes, to all. Oh and I had the boys with me." His response, "The story gets better. I still don't get it." Well all I could come back with was, "I workout!" Brad said, "I still don't see how you managed to do all that. Once again, I say, "Honey, I workout!"

I really didn't understand at the beginning of his questioning what he was getting at. I didn't think anything about the size. I saw the sale price and went for it. Nope, I didn't even think twice about how to carry it or lift it. I just do what needs to be done.

Quick Snap Sunday: Hi Everyone!

Hi Everyone!

Simmie and I took time today to pose together in our Cowboys gear! Let's focus on the pic and not on the game. Cowboy's may have won the game but the sentiment is not good. Has a team ever lost the main starting wide receiver in game 1 then lost the starting quarterback the very next week? Unbelievable!

Anyway, like I said lets focus on my little guy. The youngest little man in our home!  Isn't he cute? He's such a sweetie. He puts up with a lot too. An older cranky big brother and a pesky little sister. Just today while he was rolling on the floor in an attempt to scratch his own back his kid sister pounced in the center of his belly. He got up, kept moving on. He doesn't let much faze him. Hi Simmie-boo!

The Great Oatmeal Spill of 2015!

My oh my! The great oatmeal spill of 2015 occurred! This wasn't one of those spills where the bowl runs over while it's cooking in the microwave. Which forces you to take time to clean your microwave before you can sit down to breakfast. Nope, that wasn't the issue.  I wish that had been the issue. It would have been easier to clean up and only in one small area.

Nope instead this is the story....I've never had a complaint about the way the oatmeal lid fits on the container. However, the other day there I am reaching into the pantry for the oatmeal. Now I suppose I should add that the oatmeal was up high and I am down low. Therefore it was a stretch. I caught the edge of the oatmeal lid started pulling it upward and toward me when the lid popped off. OATMEAL EVERYWHERE! I mean everywhere. Piper was covered in it. Simon came running, quickly realizing what spilled didn't seem to be edible. To him it appeared to be sawdust I had spilled. He looked around puzzled. Likely wondering how such a large nonedible mess could occur in the kitchen, his fave place to attempt to snag something!

It's been some days now, I've cleaned and cleaned but still oatmeal is falling from somewhere or something. What a mess! Like a never ending mess!

Overall we did laugh a bit at the situation. We had a oatmeal covered Piper and the look on Simon's face as he surveyed things was quite humorous too. A look of supreme disappointment! Likely thinking, 'why couldn't she have dropped the Oreo's all over the kitchen?'

Quick Snap Sunday: Slideshow Weekend!

Slideshow Weekend!

The camera was busy this weekend!

Okay the first pic up isn't that great but it was slightly funny to me how I caught Simon mid lick! He was licking his lips while laying in his sister's bed.  That bed he's in is by far the most sought after place in the house. All 3 pets love it! We've done our best trying to find 2 more but have been unsuccessful. It was Storm's bed before Brad and I got married. Had the bed come along after Brad and I got married there would've been 3 purchased.

Cody was trying so hard to keep his one eye open to watch what I was doing, but as you can see he was losing his battle with the sandman. LOL! Simon clearly already threw in the towel as he was sound asleep and could careless that I was snapping his pic.

Generally I think the names appearing on the Coke bottles is kind of dumb. But maybe I'm bitter, since finding my name spelled the way my mom spelled it is nearly impossible. However, finding Cody's name was an easy task! And yes, I'm that ridiculous that I couldn't resist taking a pic of the Cody Coke bottle! Here's to Cody!

Another pic of the bed hog! He is seriously the quickest at occupying the fave bed of the trio!

Me: "Hi Pipe! What are you doing?" Pipe says, "Not much mom, just checking things out from this view!" She's hanging out by the corner of the overstuffed mega chair we have. I love it when she crawls under this chair leaving only her little tushy and tail visible. I'm sure in her mind she's completely hidden! If she only knew 1/3 of her body was still visible. LOL!

18 Lives

So it was bath day, the bathing order is in the order of age. As Piper would term it, "age before beauty".  First Cody, then Simon, and lastly little Piper. I must confess it's really not about their ages, just the order that developed. I would always choose to bathe Cody first because he's the hardest to bathe. Simon is easy and once Piper came along she was content waiting until after her bros.

There I am bathing the "kids" one by one. Now once Cody is done and out of the tub, he jumps around anxiously awaiting his next sibling to get out of the tub too. Sometimes he's jumping around so much I have trouble keeping him out of the way while I get Simon or Piper wrapped in a towel and out of the tub. I don't know why he gets so excited but he does, perhaps he's anxious because once all baths are done, it's treat time.

Anyway, there I am unfolding a towel to wrap Piper in and get her out of the tub. As I'm unfolding the towel she springs upward. Now with cats they quite literally have springs in their back legs. Dogs do not have the jumping abilities cats do. With her at times it's like she has a hidden trampoline she's bouncing up from. So Piper springs up as I'm unfolding the towel to wrap her in, meanwhile Cody is directly in front of me. In a split second I realize Piper is going to land directly on Cody's head because he's not granting her any room to land, he's invading all the area. One of those don't think, just react moments. As I'm reaching for Piper, Cody is realizing what is about to happen. He's clued into the fact he's about to be landed on. Someway, somehow I reach out to grab the soaking wet Pipe! Not an easy grab, when a pet is completely wet and slippery. I glance at Cody, his expression goes from totally panic stricken to fully relieved. He was a puggie breathing a huge sigh of relief.  His face said, "Great catch mommie, great catch, I was almost history!" I must say I was quite proud of myself, it was a really nice catch! Lol!

I think Piper's 9 lives as well as his 9 lives flashed before him...if he has 9 lives? Perhaps not since he's a pug! But if he does have 9 lives they all flashed before his eyes along with hers! LOL!

Quick Snap Sunday: Brad vs. A Sports Illustrated Issue!

This week for Quick Snap Sunday, we have a short series of photos at the end of the post. I'll explain the story first. Oh geez, I almost couldn't contain myself today. I'm sorry honey, but I have to tell this story!

We were sitting in our living room when I reached to grab the latest Sports Illustrated which features Tony Romo on the cover. He looks ridiculous, might I add. I understand that's what they were going for, trying to make him look totally ridiculous, job well done. As I'm investigating the new issue I realize there's a portion of the cover that unfolds. A bonus gift, if you will! A folded up bonus section within the Sports Illustrated magazine. Awesome! I get excited as I'm peaking at it. Brad then wants to check it out. He wants to do more then just get a glimpse of the folded section. He wants to figure out how to get the folded section unattached from the magazine.

There must be a way! He was determined to find that way. I offered to help. But he was determined! Husbands(lol)! Before long he had all the staples pulled out of the magazine. All pages of the magazine were falling all around him. I couldn't stop laughing as I watched his determination as he worked so hard to get the folded section out of the magazine. Piper and Cody were standing nearby watching daddy at work. Cody with his puzzled looks, Piper with a look of confusion. Piper soon got in trouble with her daddy for not "respecting the game of football". She wanted to walk on the pages that had fallen all over our floor. Brad wasn't about to let her do that.

Oh man, he was so determined to get that folded section out of the magazine. Nothing was stopping him. We now have a rather destroyed issue of Sports Illustrated on display on our coffee table. Once Brad got the folded section unattached from the magazine he was in awe of it. It's now taking up WAY TOO much room on our fridge. Trust me folks, it won't be staying there all season long. I can't handle things on the front of the fridge. It must be bare! However, I'll humor him for the rest of this long weekend! :)

Below are pics of the scene:
This is when he first got the folded section out of the magazine and realized I was taking pics!

Hanging it up on the fridge, notice his grin!

A small portion of the aftermath, loose pages no longer being held together in the magazine.

The unfolded section on our fridge! It is very cool! Totally worth getting it out of the Sports Illustrated magazine. All teams are listed.
