Um Hello!

When your cat is meowing to go outside. At first she sat there quietly then she decided she'd start meowing until a human parent came to let her out, probably thinking, "um, hello people, let me out". It's not every household that has a cat and dog asking to go outside. ;)

Third Saturday

This is the third Saturday of this stay in place, quarantine. I'm not a fan of the word quarantine. Sounds too worrisome to me. I'd rather say the phrase "stay in place".

Another Saturday where I've watched way too much of Too Cute, which isn't a bad thing at all. Landon loves watching it too. Brad is currently napping. I guess "father like daughter" because our cat-daughter is napping too.

How is everyone on supplies? Are things getting low? We were low on produce and a few other things. We ordered groceries for pick up this past week. We'll most likely do that again this week if we need to. Due to lack of supplies the stores have I think we came away with maybe a little over half of what we ordered. One of my cousin's in Phx was asking me a bunch of questions about ordering groceries as his supplies are getting low. He's got a wife and 5 kids to worry about. I feel for people with bigger families during this time. Here's a little tip...for certain items order different flavors/brands. For certain things do like a first choice, second choice type of thing. If you want Barilla Marinara also select Ragu Chunky Vegetable Marinara. If you want brown rice select Uncle Ben's and another brand. At this point the chances of the store having everything you order is very slim. Next time I will make that slight adjustment to better my chances of getting certain items. I'm not trying to hoard the items I'm just trying to allow for an "option B" if they don't have "option A".

It's been an extremely long time since I've been to a library. That being said I'm almost 100% certain there's no handbook sitting on a dusty library shelf titled "How To Deal With The Corona Virus When It Happens". This is an unprecedented global situation. In the past it seems when our country has faced a crisis, it's come together. However, I feel like this crisis is bringing out the worst in people. People getting in fights over supplies. National guard being called on to protect trucks delivering toilet paper to stores. Governors of certain states on TV ranting. Hillary Clinton posting a pic on social media about this crisis in an effort to throw shade at the President. Come on people! Grow up, act decent, and be helpful not hateful. That's going to be my new slogan until this is over...be helpful not hateful.

A Post From Landon

How is everyone doing? Are you all staying safe? Are you all staying in place as much as possible? I am! I haven't gone anywhere except my backyard.

I don't mind staying home. I get lots of time with my mommy and daddy. Well, dad's still working but he gets home a little earlier than usual. He says there's hardly any traffic so he just sails right on thru to get home to me. I'm sure I'm the first one he thinks of when he's on his way home. On second thought, he might think of mom first? But I'm certain if he does think of mom first then I must be a very close second. Practically tied with mom. Dad's been complaining how boring it is on his drive home because there's no sports to listen to. Therefore without a doubt he must think about me while he's driving home. I'm always so anxious to greet him at the door when he arrives. Mom gets me hyped up giving me warnings that it's almost time for dad to come home.

Never fear though our household is not without sports ever. I love wrestling with dad. I love chasing a ball too. Oh and mom and dad have their own "sports event" almost every night as they play Kinect on the Xbox. It's crazy to watch. At times they move like they are throwing something and at other times they are jumping and swinging. I don't know? I've never seen anything come out of their hands nor have I seen them hit or catch anything. Strangest thing to watch!

Stay well my furiends! Stay well!

p.s. Does it kind of look like I've got a little grin on my face? Notice my mouth turns upward on each side. Mom says I'm her very own grinning emoji! But let's be real, with this new background on the blog I'm like a "chick magnet". Who can resist my grin? #mymomcan't #mymomisasuckerforme

Nighttime Lantics!

I know a precious commodity is toilet paper for humans right now. But I say...forget the toilet paper, I'm all about the roll it goes on. #catchmeifyoucan

p.s. Can you even see me in this pic? Geez mom, turn on a light before snapping pic #207 of me today.

Keeping Busy

How are things going where you live during this pandemic? Difficult times we suddenly find ourselves in, right? It's surreal how all this has taken place. The biggest question of all looming is...when will life get back to normal? Will life ever be normal again? Surely, it will be, I hope at some point.

As for us in Texas, lets discuss. Pretty much everything is shutdown except for "essential businesses". Brad is still going to work everyday. Per the order of the governor only "essential employees" can keep working during this time. So for Brad that means managers will continue to run things and all other staff gets to stay home. This was an absolute delight to the leasing agents at Brad's property. Whom barely want to show up to work even when things are normal.

I'm not sure why so many are thinking this is a vacation? All these companies are losing money everyday, it's hitting all industries in one way or another. But to recuperate from the loses that have been suffered some companies...many companies...likely most companies will "trim the fat", as my grandpa used to say. Meaning some people will be told not to come back. So yeah, a lot of these people I see on instagram that are seemly celebrating and enjoying a staycation might not be too happy soon. Some that believe they had plenty of job security before this pandemic might be surprised in time. This is going to take a long time to recover from. The longer it goes the longer it will take to recover....globally!

I'm keeping busy. Trying to at least. It's weird having that feeling of not being able to go do what ever errand need to be done. It's also weird seeing the grocery shelves so empty on the news. I really stocked us up right as this whole thing happened. Let's see the NBA was shutdown on the 11th and I went out to stock us up the next day. Then on Friday the 13th the governor declared Texas a disaster state, which is when people really started scrabbling to get supplies. At least though I can always count on Brad for comic relief...because on that Friday he came home from work with tons of snack food he picked up at Walgreens. I got the essentials the day before but he got all his favorite snacks at Walgreens.

So here we are on day 9 of this(I'm counting from Saturday the 14th) and I still have my sanity...I think. Here's what I've been doing...I've organized some extra areas of our house. I've sprayed more Lysol on things than any person should be permitted to. Seriously, I might be a danger to society with my Lysol can. I've taught Landon the Texas two-step. I've vacuumed like a mad woman. I've gone thru Brad's side of the closet and pulled out shirts I'm strongly urging him to get rid of. I've researched way too much about this virus. I've fretted about it plenty too. We've played lots of games and watched movies. We've watched lots of Friends, Big Bang Theory, and Too Cute episodes. Two weekends in a row where we didn't venture outside the house at all. I must say though...I don't mind...I'd rather stay in as much as possible and try to reduce my chances of getting this...because I really don't want to get it. Not that anyone does!

Stay safe!

On Point!

Head tilting on point! How lucky am I to have another head tilter. My trio of boys all have that in common. Landon is kind of a combo of both Cody and Simon with his own personal spice to life. Never gets old to see your little dude tilting his head from side to side taking in every word spoken directly to him.

Staying Home

How is everyone doing? This is a crazy time! Hope everyone is staying home as much as possible. Seriously don't go anywhere unless you absolutely have to. I'm chilling with little dude. We are having a lot of quality time. He's still up to his usual antics...Lantics.

What's the hardest part about all this? Okay, there's a lot of hard parts to this but....no sports on TV, is very difficult for us in this household. At the same time I agree sports seasons needed to cease for awhile. But yeah, it's a little less exciting without sports. Lots of video game playing around here. Lots of giving new shows we've never tried a chance too.

Here's the thing though, why does it seem harder to stay home when the government is urging you to versus simply choosing to stay home and not go anywhere for a day? Funny how that works! It's like when I was a child told by my grandma to not grab a hot cookie, to wait for the cookies to cool. I'd pay no attention and grab the cookie anyway. Then I'd drop it on the floor because it was too hot to handle. Lol!

Added bonus...Lantics! Running around with a coaster in his mouth. He says, "Shout out to my AZ Grammy for making these tasty coasters. They are good for so many things: chewying on, running from my parents with, or even using as a mini frisbee".

Quick Snap Sunday

First off, how is everyone doing? Hunkering down in your home like us? Very unexciting weekend in these parts. It's been raining outside off and on since Friday and we have more rain coming in during the week. So that is maybe making this time period a tiny bit easier. Brad mentioned that he was in a weird way thankful it's been so nasty out with rain because there's less temptation to go out. Is anyone else like that when it rains, little to no desire to leave the house? That's Brad for sure. It was however, predicted our rainfall would not mean a temperature drop. Um, they were wrong about that. There's been a bit of a temperature drop. Not too bad but it's a little on the chilly side of things.

Well I hope all of you are doing as good as can expected. Hope you all have plenty of toilet paper to last during this bizarre pandemic. I think we are good on supplies. We've honestly never had our 2 pantries so stocked.

Now for the quick snaps...here's the difference in my "kids"...one is sleeping with her head up thru this pandemic issue and the other is keeping us on our toes as his toes get wet every time he goes outside which forces us to wipe him down or completely spray him off when he gets muddy from being in the backyard.

Look at that face...the face that says, "Yep, I did it again, I got my paws wet and muddy and my beard is a little wet too. Can't help it mom, the pandemic made me do it, it's hard getting all my energy out in a time like this."

Sun Is Out, Tongue Is Out!

Look at that happy face! Tongue out Tuesday or #TOT! For those that aren't aware, tongue out Tuesday is a thing on social media. Every Tuesday it's a pretty big deal on instagram. Which is my reasoning for referencing it in the title of this post. Anyway, have you seen a more happy little dude today than my sweet handsome boy? Loving that sunshine hitting him in the face. Soak it in, soak it in because later this week the sun will go bye-bye for a few days. Even the weekend is supposed to be rain soaked.

Him and I ran an errand earlier to Petco. The words "Petco" or "Petsmart" don't invoke extreme excitement with him. I've used more general terms instead of store names with him so far. Therefore those store names can be brought up in conversations without a dog going bonkers. I'm not sure it's better using general terms but so far that's how we've approached getting him ready to go somewhere. Just trying a few different ways of doing things with this little dude.

I did have a pic for this past Sunday. But I never got around to posting. I'm not sure why? Let's blame time change. I'm still looking for that lost hour. LOL!

When I got in the car today with Landon, I looked at the clock and thought, 'wow, it's still so early, I got around fast today'. I was impressed with myself for about a minute and a half until I remembered the clock in the car hadn't been updated to the new time. So again...I lost an hour! LOL!

Flashback Friday

I recently came across this pic and laughed. Piper checking out what's in the pantry and Cody "supervising", likely making sure she didn't steal anything. LOL! He was always watching over her and ready to lecture her if he needed to. Or come report to me when she did something wrong.

I'll never forget the first time she climbed the gate as a small kitten. Cody was astonished and immediately came running to me, hopping around in a frenzy with urgent whining. Even though fur-babies can't physically talk they figure out a way to communicate the issue.

Piper communicates by using a few different meow's. Another way she communicates is with her bites. Yes, she bites. All cats bite. With me when she wants my attention she usually bites me. My sweet little girl bites me when I'm not giving her enough attention. She bites Landon just for the heck of it to be ornery. As for Brad she does "latch bite". She latches on to him with her teeth and just holds her mouth on him. Which I'm convinced means, she doesn't want him to stop giving her attention. She wants him to stay put. See what I mean, she finds ways to communicate with her bites and her meow's. Lol! To everyone that reads this...TGIF...do something fun!

Quick Snap Sunday

Sunday morning snuggles! Aww, so cute, the duo. This is "his" bed. Cody's last bed he used was the bed we started Landon with. The poor little dude has yet to score his own bed. It's got that foam eggshell stuff in it, so it feels very unique, plus it's sturdier than other beds in this house. That's it's best selling point...sturdy and doesn't get "flat" like other beds we have used. Anyone know what I mean by flat? Flat and misshapen. Anyway this bed solves both of those problems. Recently, Piper discovered the greatness of his bed too. She now takes up the majority of the bed and leaves him a little piece in the back. Nice of her, isn't it? Big sis dominance!

Here's a brief story, The other day we instructed Landon to go lay on his bed while we ate dinner, Piper was already there taking up residency. She was not about to allow him to get on the bed as well. He'd step to his right towards the bed and she'd swat at him with her paw. He'd back up then step forward, this time to the left, she'd swat at him again. After a few swats, she then stood up to further dominate. A few more brief seconds later, he was down on his side with his feet rapidly going as he struggled to get back up, while she stood over him. He soon fought his way out of his jam getting back up as he let out a groan. Next he somewhat conceded, settling for half of his body on "his" bed as Piper laid back down with her entire body on "his" bed.

Anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?...perhaps we need another bed exactly like the one they are both attached to. Here's the thing I'm undecided about though...Piper does this, she latches on to a new spot for awhile, sometimes a long while then she moves on to another spot. So that's the difficult thing to predict, is this a phase or something more.
