Keeping Busy

How are things going where you live during this pandemic? Difficult times we suddenly find ourselves in, right? It's surreal how all this has taken place. The biggest question of all looming is...when will life get back to normal? Will life ever be normal again? Surely, it will be, I hope at some point.

As for us in Texas, lets discuss. Pretty much everything is shutdown except for "essential businesses". Brad is still going to work everyday. Per the order of the governor only "essential employees" can keep working during this time. So for Brad that means managers will continue to run things and all other staff gets to stay home. This was an absolute delight to the leasing agents at Brad's property. Whom barely want to show up to work even when things are normal.

I'm not sure why so many are thinking this is a vacation? All these companies are losing money everyday, it's hitting all industries in one way or another. But to recuperate from the loses that have been suffered some companies...many companies...likely most companies will "trim the fat", as my grandpa used to say. Meaning some people will be told not to come back. So yeah, a lot of these people I see on instagram that are seemly celebrating and enjoying a staycation might not be too happy soon. Some that believe they had plenty of job security before this pandemic might be surprised in time. This is going to take a long time to recover from. The longer it goes the longer it will take to recover....globally!

I'm keeping busy. Trying to at least. It's weird having that feeling of not being able to go do what ever errand need to be done. It's also weird seeing the grocery shelves so empty on the news. I really stocked us up right as this whole thing happened. Let's see the NBA was shutdown on the 11th and I went out to stock us up the next day. Then on Friday the 13th the governor declared Texas a disaster state, which is when people really started scrabbling to get supplies. At least though I can always count on Brad for comic relief...because on that Friday he came home from work with tons of snack food he picked up at Walgreens. I got the essentials the day before but he got all his favorite snacks at Walgreens.

So here we are on day 9 of this(I'm counting from Saturday the 14th) and I still have my sanity...I think. Here's what I've been doing...I've organized some extra areas of our house. I've sprayed more Lysol on things than any person should be permitted to. Seriously, I might be a danger to society with my Lysol can. I've taught Landon the Texas two-step. I've vacuumed like a mad woman. I've gone thru Brad's side of the closet and pulled out shirts I'm strongly urging him to get rid of. I've researched way too much about this virus. I've fretted about it plenty too. We've played lots of games and watched movies. We've watched lots of Friends, Big Bang Theory, and Too Cute episodes. Two weekends in a row where we didn't venture outside the house at all. I must say though...I don't mind...I'd rather stay in as much as possible and try to reduce my chances of getting this...because I really don't want to get it. Not that anyone does!

Stay safe!
