Quick Snap Saturday!

Hyper Piper Time!

I snapped a couple photos of Brad playing with little Piper. I love how she uses her front paws. These two have lots of special games they play. This is one of them, the batting at my hands game.

I've definitely learned it doesn't take much to entertain a cat. She's happy with the most bizarre things: a string, a bow, a piece of tissue paper. Don't get me wrong she loves her cube to play in and other toys she has but letting her bat at your hands like Brad is doing in the pic is one of the most enjoyable games to her. She can bat at our hands, the boys, or a toy on a string for hours. Hypetty-Pipetty!

Super Bowl Ready!

So it's that wonderful weekend of the year again....Super Bowl weekend. Must say it's quite cool that it's in AZ. I'm ready for the big game tomorrow. This is a Seahawks household tomorrow! Well, actually I tested Brad as to where his preference was and can you believe he says he doesn't like one team more than the other? Geez! His hope is simply for a good game. Well the boys and I are rooting for Seattle but won't be terribly upset if the Patriots win.

I've been busy getting all my Super Bowl munchies prepared. The munch mixes representing each team are done. In honor of where the game is being played I've planned a very "Arizona" meal. Brad had a choice of a nacho bar or a taco bar. He chose a taco bar. So we will be serving quite the taco options. The desserts will represent the two Super Bowl teams. Seems balanced among honoring AZ and the 2 teams!

Overall I want a good competitive game to watch. Hopefully some good Super Bowl commercials will be shown as well. It's the one game of the year I want to catch the commercials too. LOL! Looking forward to it! Go AZ....put on a good show!

Quick Snap Saturday!

Sibling Love!

I couldn't grab the camera fast enough! I couldn't believe it when I spotted little Piper sleeping on top of Simon. It was late in the afternoon and I was in a different room than the trio. Upon returning to the living room there slept Piper on top of Simon as if she was giving him a bear hug. If you look closely you can tell Simon is awake. He was fully aware of his sis falling asleep on his back. He was as you can tell completely at ease about it.

Simon's patience with her is as I've stated before....AMAZING! Cool, calm, and collected is he! Or at least when he's at home he's that way. His fur only gets ruffled when people or dogs intrude on his walks. And if you get on the elevator with us be prepared for the stare down!....Simon style! He's actually given a few people the creeps to the point they get off the elevator early. No one wants to be trapped in an elevator with an aggressively staring pug named Simon! It's funny to me how he can turn his aggressive protector side on and off like a light switch. So intimidating! The two sides of Simon. Half Rottweiler and as evidence above....half passive pug.

Domestic Goddess?

I recently heard the term "domestic goddess". It went in one ear and out the other at the time. It wasn't until today when the term resurfaced in my mind. After mopping the floors there I was doing laundry, bathing two pugs, dealing with a curious cat, answering my husband's text and pondering what to make for dinner.  When I thought, 'hmm, domestic goddess?' That thought was soon accompanied with this thought, 'I wonder if I could be a domestic goddess?'

A little while later I'm walking two pugs in the cold rain. Cody is so fed up with the icy-rainy days that he recently passed me a note that read, "Can we move to Florida?". So needless to say he was not happy to be outside and shivered the entire way. My heart went out to him but walks still have to be taken. Rain, shine, or snow flurries! Note to Cody, snow flurries are in the forecast!

Next up for the day was more laundry. How do 2 people and 3 pets have so much laundry? Okay I can answer that! The pets have blankets and beds plus towels that are used for only them. The boys also have clothes. Don't get hung up on the fact I dress the boys. Everyone that reads this blog should already know I dress the boys. However, I dress them for warmth and not so they can look like the first pugs to ever walk off the cover of a GQ magazine! All of their items plus our items equals a decent amount of laundry.

By now I'm folding laundry and realizing it's feeding time at this zoo. Simon promptly arrives in the kitchen for food. Don't call him late for dinner! I look down at him, he looks guilty. I then call for Cody to get up from his cozy bed positioned directly in front of the heater. As I'm waiting for Cody to rise up. I'm seeing and hearing Piper meow as she walks circles around Simon. It's her patient(or rather impatient) way she waits to be fed now.  Okay good, I now have 3 pets in front of me. I then drop the boys food container. So lovely when that happens. Next I realized why Simon looked guilty, he unloaded the toy box. While everyone ate mommie picked up toys.

Everyone got fed. I'm still doing laundry while I wait for Brad to get home. There are busy days. There are crazy moments. Times where I feel like I never stop running to do one more thing. But you know what? I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love being busy! I have to be busy!

So do I fit the description of the domestic goddess? Hmm, NO! Not by a long shot. Today and most days I think I'm more of a domestic tornado! If that's even possible! LOL!

My Coolest Socks!

Yep that's me as I make the boys observe my cool socks. Yes, I know the Cardinals are out of the play-offs. But that didn't stop me from proudly putting on my Cards socks this morning before taking the boys for a walk. After the walk was over I stuck my foot out for the boys to admire with jealous eyes such cool socks!

My husband presented these AZ Cardinals socks to me at Christmas. I've gotten plenty of use out of them already. I have other cardinal socks too. My other pair are a cardinal bird theme not the Cardinals football team theme. I think it's cute that the boys played along, they humored me as I made them look at my socks. Good boys!

M&M's!

At the conclusion of the Cowboys game, I was walking thru our kitchen when I noticed a bag of holiday M&M's sitting on our counter. I instinctively thought I should sort through them. There I was separating the green and red M&M's. I soon thought to myself, "who else does these sorts of things?". My next thought was, "My husband is right, I'm crazy." Not sure if I'm the good kind of crazy like he says or just plain crazy.

Why was I sorting the M&M's to begin with?  Now I'm ready to make my annual Super Bowl munch mix. I have the green M&M's ready to represent the NFC and red to represent the Patriots. I need more bags to retrieve only blue M&M's for the Colts.

No matter what, the green M&M's will be used. Whether or not I go with red and blue M&M's(Patriots) or only blue M&M's(Colts) is the mystery. Yes, I think it's clear I'm officially crazy! Or perhaps I'm just a good planner! Yes, lets go with that! I am a good planner! Always thinking ahead!

Big Football Day!

Today is a big football day! Huge! Last night of course was a big football day too. I enjoyed watching my third favorite team, the Seahawks, take care of the Panthers. Woo-hoo! Now today we are on to the Dallas game.

I'm much more invested in the Cowboys victories than any other team's victory. If the Cowboys don't win it spells out a ruined evening for us. Brad is a done deal if his Cowboys lose. See here's a big difference between me and Brad. If my Cards(my number one team) lose I'm upset a little but I recover quickly. If Brad's fave team doesn't win, his day is over. He takes the loss hard. Which means his wife takes the loss hard too. So going into Cowboys games I secretly have my fingers and toes crossed. Should be interesting....whomever wins heads to Seattle next! Yikes!

As for the late afternoon game, it's Brad's third fave team(the Broncos). Okay let me say the Broncos were his second favorite team his whole life. However, I would like to believe that the Broncos have slipped to the number 3 spot since I came into Brad's life. His top 3 teams should read.....Cowboys, Cardinals, Broncos. Right?

No doubt about it Brad will be rooting for the Cowboys and the Broncos today. I on the other hand will be praying for a Cowboys victory and secretly, well not so secretly, preferring a Colts victory. I doubt it will happen but I would love to see the younger QB prevail. Luck is my fave QB of the current younger generation. He represents the PAC 12 well! Overall I'm kind of neutral for the second game today, but leaning towards Colts!

The Mess of a Simmie!

The question posed to Simon was, "Did you tip over the toy basket again?"  With a definite tilt of his head he looked directly at me as I snapped his photo. This is a rather typical sight in our home, a tipped over toy basket. Toys all over the place. I've seen Simon in action as he attempts to knock over the basket. Sometimes he uses his front paws to tip it towards him. Other times he sits in it and somehow it tips over. One day quite a few months ago I came home for the day, there sat Simon in the toy basket with Cody next to him. Cody had about 4 toys surrounding him as Simon sat on a mountain top of toys still in the basket.

He usually has a mission, after tipping over the basket he comes away with one particular toy or rawhide I might have hidden. In the pic above if you notice there's two rawhide bones. Those bones must have something wrong with them....since they're still around in a home in which Simon inhabits.

Also in the pic is Simon's ultimate favorite toy that has been with him his whole life, his little basketball that no longer squeaks(we aren't sad about that). After this pic was taken he grabbed his basketball from the basket and left. Now if only he could learn to pick up the toys when he's done!

5 Second Rule!

Last night soon after arriving home Brad got the munchies and dinner wasn't yet ready. So to the pantry he went as he surveyed and shopped for just the right item to hold him over until dinner. The go-to snack item for Brad 95% of the time is chips! He is a chip feign! Our pantry is always featuring a few chip options.

So there's Brad surveying things, someway somehow he bumps the pringles and they fall to the floor. The lid pops open upon impact. Great....now we have broken chips scattered. There were a lot of chips that fell out of the container, only some were broken into numerous pieces. Brad is irritated with himself as he now looks down to survey the mess. I quickly stop stirring dinner and go help him. He is fast to tell me to put them back in the container, no throwing them in the trash. Apparently in this circumstance Brad lives by the 5 second rule! He also adds that he'll eat them even if I won't since they touched the floor. At that point I started to laugh then said, "Honey, I have a confession to make." His reluctant response was, "Okay, what is it?" I then proceeded to tell him that the same container of pringles feel out of the pantry the other day, lid popped off and I put all the chips back in the container too.

At the conclusion of my confession we both busted out laughing. Good to know we both live by the 5 second rule! Anyone out there that might come by our place in the near future beware of the pringles if you don't live by the 5 second rule! ;)

Just Snow Already!

The title of this post has been my constant comment in the last few days. If it's going to be this cold then give us some snow! It is fun to slosh around in the snow and pelt the boys with snowballs. LOL! Just kidding....I never do that! ;)

It's been super cold here. Today the icy wind was blowing so much I've dreaded every walk with the boys. When I looked at the temp this morning before taking the boys outside it read......drum roll please.....12 degrees with the wind chill factored in. I don't believe it got above 20 degrees thanks to the wind chill. Last week had some super chilly days and this entire week so far has featured bitterly cold temps.

Simon has a new thing. It worked once and now he tries it out regularly. His new thing is to "knock" on the balcony door. When I take him and Cody outside on the balcony to get brushed in the mornings, Simon always gets brushed first, as soon as I tell him he's done he promptly walks over to the balcony door and knocks. One morning his "knocking" produced results, as his daddy quickly let him in while mommie brushed Cody. Ever since that particular morning if it's too cold for Simmie to handle he knocks on the door. Last few days Brad hasn't been around at that time of day so no such luck for Simon to get inside quicker than Cody and I.

So just how cold has it been.....well I already said the temps, but my point is to explain I've upped the boy's clothing attire. They wear "jammies" to bed and sweaters during the day. Yes, I said jammies. They have long-sleeved fleece shirts now I've termed as their "jammies". Can you believe they actually make long-sleeves for pets? Can you believe I bought them long-sleeves? Which one is harder to believe? :) Anything to keep my puggies toasty!

Rainy Days!

The last few days have made me question where we live?  We haven't seen the sun in awhile. We've had lots of rain.  So much rain Cody has questioned where we live as well. Wait, when doesn't Cody question where I moved his little tail feathers to? Especially this time of year!  Today as I was driving I thought to myself, if I didn't know any better I would confuse Dallas with Seattle. Oddly enough my first few days in Texas more than 5 and a half years ago I questioned if I had accidentally moved back to Seattle as Dallas was experiencing quite the May showers.

Let me tell you though, I was super prepared for this round of rainy/icy weather. I even served chili and cheddar biscuits for New Year's Eve to our guests. Trust me, chili was just the thing to serve when the icy conditions started up. Yesterday it rained ALL DAY! Never stopped! Perhaps I was super prepared but I'm happy to say it hasn't felt as bitterly cold as I expected it to feel. I doubt Cody would agree or Simon either. The other night Brad opened our door that leads to the balcony and little Piper was right at his heel, she had quite the visible reaction to the super cold breeze she felt. She quickly retreated back a few steps and blinked her eyes a few times. Probably shocked by what she just felt.

So I'm back to blogging! Yes, I've been a little absent lately. Partly because life has been busy. What can I say? It's been the holiday time. With my mom visiting too, I didn't want to take too much time to blog. We'll have a busy weekend as Brad's extended family will be getting together on Sunday to celebrate the holidays. This year the get-together is a little later than usual, should be fun. Tomorrow I will be preparing our dishes for the extended family Christmas around the Cards game. I've already made sure all my fave Cards gear is clean and ready to wear! Woo-hoo!
