Ready For Fall

Things have been a little crazy lately. I'm happy for summer to come to an end and for Fall to be right around the corner. I'm anxious to get my Fall decorations up in the house. 

We went to a birthday get-together for my brother-in-law yesterday which was fun. We had a quiet evening and just watched a movie. As of right now, we are watching the Cowboys last pre-season game. Tomorrow the U.S. Open begins. So our TV will be tuned to it nightly. I can hardly wait. Bring on the last grand slam of the tennis season. 

Landon is continuing to be an instagram hit. He's got a few features in the last few days. Yay, for him. He's my little star! Skylar continues to grow up too fast. I'm happy to see her maturing in one way but in another way my baby is catching up to her brother at a rapid pace. She's doing well in school. Has a few more weeks of classes to go. 

Best thing about September arriving...the mornings will be getting cooler, the summer heat will be subsiding. Have a good Sunday!

Catching Up

Well as you can see I took a nice long break from the blog. Landon's instagram is rather demanding to say the least. It keeps me very busy. We've also been very glued to the Olympics, or at least I have. Brad watched a little here and there each night. 

We've enjoyed the Olympics, but we are ready for it to end. As we both feel the world has taken a step or two backwards as everyone has been inundated with the images from the Tokyo games and those images have "stirred the pot" AGAIN! Overly obsessive covid protocols ruled the Tokyo games. However, opposite of the Olympics the Gold Cup was going which is a soccer tournament for the nations that didn't qualify for the Olympics, when we would turn on the Gold Cup, not a mask in sight in the completely sold out stadiums. Yeah, Tokyo did everything they could to stir the pot and help keep people questioning how much they should be in fear again. Also did anyone happen to notice only the "popular" sports scheduled to get lots of TV time had no spectators. But there are tons of images on Instagram and other online sources where spectators can be seen attending the less popular sports. All I'm saying is there was a very calculated image of how we the public were supposed to see these Olympics. 

Now for us, we move on to tennis. Tennis! Tennis! Tennis, will be ruling our tv. Oh and preseason football. But the Canadian Open is this week and then one week off and then the big US Open. 

In other news, Skylar graduated from kindergarten level of puppy school and starts her next level tomorrow. She is doing so well. Having two havanese is a blast. So far their personalities are very similar. It's like dealing with the girl version of Landon. LOL!

Happy 4th of July

I'll try to keep this short and sweet, since I posted twice today! Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July long weekend! I went shopping for Brad's birthday yesterday. We had a game night last night.  Then today I woke up early to do a photo shoot with the kids. Skylar didn't have anything to wear and since it's a holiday I wanted her to wear something. So I used safety pins to make one of Landon's bandana's "small" enough to fit her. At one point she had one arm that had made it's way up and over the neck of the bandana, looked like she was Miss America wearing a sash. Lol! But I got a few pics!

If anyone is wondering I'm not a fan of buying puppies a bunch of clothes.  A few key pieces is fine, in my opinion. But otherwise, not a fan. I wasn't a fan of it, before with Landon and I'm still not. It's such a waste to have tons of puppy clothes when your puppy keeps growing. I've only bought her 1 pair of jammies and a harness otherwise she goes around nakey.

Happy Vacay To Us

It's vacation week for us! A massive amount of NOTHING is planned! Well I guess that's not entirely true. As Brad's birthday is on Tuesday and I'm hosting a small gathering for his bday! 

Hopefully everyone is in a good mood for a party. Seems like lately when people get together, someone shows up with a bad attitude. So seriously if you are one of the ones coming to Brad's birthday party on Tuesday, show up with a good attitude and be in a good mood or stay HOME. 

And yes, I couldn't help but notice the NBA Finals start on Brad's birthday. So basketball will definitely be on in the background. Anyone doesn't like that...once again...don't come! I'm not kidding people, I'm fed up with the bad attitudes and weird parties. So come willing to eat yummy food, play Bingo, and be a delight or stay home! 

Other than the party for Brad it will be a pretty mellow vacay time. Just hanging out with our "kids". Skylar started puppy school last week so I have to take her to class, another reason we need to have a staycation. She was so good at puppy school last week. She was rocking it! She is the smallest in the class. Nothing but big dogs in her class with her. I will be watching her close as big dogs get a little too aggressive at times. Her trainer also trained Landon and kept mentioning to the entire class how awesome Landon was in school. Well, as Landon's momma, I of course agree! :) Plus I could talk about Landon all day! But as often as the trainer referred to Landon in class I worried the other pet parents were going to get irritated. Wink-wink!

Lazy Saturday

It's a bit of a lazy Saturday for us. It's overcast outside, but not too hot, which is nice. Friday night flew by way too fast for us. The main entertainment for the evening was simply playing with our two havas. Brad and I were both on the floor playing with them. We also spent a lot of time outside as it's time to transition Skylar to the outside for potty time. Wish us luck! Or rather...wish me luck. 

This is Brad's last week of work before vacation time. He'll be off starting the 3rd! No plans to go anywhere, as we have a puppy in the house. But even if we didn't have Skylar I doubt we'd go anywhere. Especially since Brad's birthday party will be on his actual birthday almost in the middle of his vacation time. This year I had to work his birthday party around his sister-in-law's schedule...(picture me rolling my eyes). Oh well! We aim to please...even when it's BRAD'S BIRTHDAY...apparently! Cue my eye roll again! 

Landon's instagram has been demanding as usual. Tomorrow is his Sunnie's Squad day which I host. I mean, he hosts! LOL! I took the pic earlier for his Sunnie's Squad post. I was also asked to do a group edit with some of his buddies. So likely at midnight I will be sitting in bed working on creating a group edit with Landon and his buddies.  Gotta love those late night creating sessions. Actually, I like it! I almost prefer it. My mind is more clear as the day is winding down. I sit in bed creating and it's somewhat therapeutic to create a cute edit late at night like that. 

So far it is still very much Landon's instagram account. Skylar as I like to call it, makes "guest appearances". I just feel that Landon has a really strong following...he's kind of a big deal! LOL! And therefore it seems hard to incorporate Skylar. As I want him to remain the focal point, not the puppy sitting next to him. For now she will make guest appearances. Maybe when she is older the account can transition into the two of them more seamlessly. Without all eyes going directly to the puppy! I will add this...on his story each day there is a higher chance of seeing the two of them together and maybe even her by herself. In his actual posts on his account though she does only guest appearances. 

Saturday night is usually a movie night or game night for us. But not this week, there's lots to watch on TV. Basketball and lots of Olympic trials are on. Brad was not too into the swimming trials but he likes track events and he has even been watching the men's gymnastics with me. Yes, I'm surprised too, on the men's gymnastics. Less than a month to the Olympics, starts the 23rd.

Longwinded Landon (part 7)

So yesterday was Father's day! We went to grandma and grandpa's house for the afternoon. We had lots of fun with everyone. It was quite hot but we loved hanging outside with everyone in the shade. Skylar got to meet our human cousin Dylan for the first time. She took quite the liking to Dylan. There was an "after party" at our house later in the day. We watched a movie and hung out some more. 

I guess daddy partied too hard at the "after party" because he didn't go to work today. LOL! It was a lowkey evening, nothing crazy, except for my zoomies! Anyway, daddy is currently lounging around the house playing video games. Meanwhile, mom is planning out my upcoming wardrobe for events on Instagram. 

Amazon prime days have begun. I haven't looked to see what I want. But mom has and she mentioned she bought me a new beach towel. So stay tuned...got a feeling my tushy is going to be photographed soon on this new beach towel. She is eager for "summery" pics. 

My little sis, Skylar is doing well. She is currently dealing with a reaction to one of her vaccines. But mom has been doctoring her. So she is fine. She's learning more and more everyday. Hope she doesn't get smarter than me. Lol! Nah, that won't happen! I don't think!

Catching Up

Mercy me, the blog hasn't been caught up since Memorial day! Oh my! Well mom has been dealing with a lot. So it is up to me today to get things caught up here. How is everyone? How am I doing, you ask? I'm great! I have a busy week on Instagram. Wait, when is my life on Instagram not busy. I attended a two day slumber party over the weekend. While doing the photoshoot for the slumber party, someone may have fallen asleep. I have no clue who that someone was? LOL!

Mom and dad were obsessed with the French Open which finished up yesterday. Mom has also been into the Olympic trials each weekend in June. Dad is not as into the Olympic trials but mom likes learning the names of America's Olympians before the Olympics. As a family we all stayed up late on Saturday night watching the dog agility championships. It was awesome! But the havanese breed is wildly underrepresented. I would be awesome at agility training. And so would my little sis. The most common breed in the agility training is...border collies! See, stick with me and you'll learn stuff. I'm amazingly smart and worldly thanks to all my furiends on instagram. Lol! 

My sis goes to the vet tomorrow for another round of shots. Which means she will be a crying little baby for at least 3 days afterward. She's not tough like me! She's tough in some ways. She's actually the type that likes to pretend to be tough but then runs when the cat barely moves towards her. And daddy falls for her fake fearfulness every single time. Not mom, mom tells her to toughen up. Mom is used to boy dogs...can you tell?

Happy Memorial Day

Hope everyone is enjoying a happy Memorial day. Not much going on here. Watching the French Open, but it will soon be over for the day due to time difference from Paris to here. Big news of the French Open so far....Naomi Osaka withdrew. She didn't want to talk to any media. And she skipped her press conference after her match yesterday. She was fined for skipping her press conference as those are mandatory for players. Then today she decided to withdraw. I'm not a Naomi Osaka fan. So in my opinion...goodbye, won't miss seeing you! 

It's a rainy day here. Supposed to rain all week. I'm so sick of the rain. So sick of the rain! We have had a ton of rain all throughout May and June is predicted to be the same way. The year I moved to Dallas it was a very rainy May and part of June was rainy too. I'm hoping it's only PART of June and not all of June...if it's all of June I might go crazy.

At least though we have 2 furry havas now. They exercise each other, so if the rain prevents a walk then I don't feel that guilty. I know Landon gets plenty of exercise with Skylar. Skylar does not walk yet. She isn't fully vaccinated. I'm overly protective until a puppy is fully vaccinated. Skylar doesn't even go in the backyard unless she is carried and held the whole time. This is Texas, who knows what kind of strange creatures are in our backyard while we sleep. So I'm not taking any risks with my baby girl.

Skylar is doing very well! She loves barking at Piper. Same as Landon when he was her age. However, her barking at Piper doesn't always go well. As Piper hisses and Skylar loses it and starts crying. Oh my, oh my! She has fit into our little family nicely. Landon loves her. They love each other. I must admit I have to remember we do still have Piper. I'm a dog mom! I love being a dog mom! But yes, I'm a cat mom too. Dogs just act so much different than cats. I feel kind of bad at times because my attention is so focused on the havas but at the same time, Piper is not into too much human contact. She likes doing her own thing. Which is fine and that's generally how cats are. 

Brad's been home since Friday, he made it a 4 day weekend. It's been nice having him home. Late nights though. Although last night I went to bed just a tiny bit later than usual as I try to adjust back to the regular work week hours. I didn't want to spoil myself too much and get used to staying up super late all days of the long weekend.

One Month

Oh that's right the new name of my little sister has not been announced yet on the blog. So do you want to know what it is? My little sis is named Skylar! She has adjusted to the name very well and very fast. She never adjusted to Scarlet. Mom is a lot happier as mom never adjusted to Scarlet either. And truth be told before mom and dad decided on Scarlet, mom called her Skylar for 2 days. Anyway, everyone is happier with the name. And mom believes, Landon and Skylar sound good together. I think overall that's what mom was worried about the most. A name that works with my name. 

Furthermore, Skylar is celebrating being home with us for 1 whole month. Can you believe it's been a month? So what is she like? Well I'll tell you!

We are the best of friends. She has already learned fetch. She does the Heisman trophy stance just like me. She's fully potty trained. She fluffs pillows and her bedding just like me. She still lacks the ability to jump on the couch. She hates the vacuum. She's suffered two minor bites from the cat. She sleeps through the night. She goes crazy with lots of energy every evening, just like me! She is easygoing and chill. She's pretty vocal already, whines like me. LOL! She loves wrestling, same as me. As mom and dad describe her...she's the girl version of me. We'll see how her personality develops but so far, we are VERY similar. 

 

 

Happy Mother's Day

 

I got up early this morning. Dressed myself, which is no easy task when one has no thumbs. Then I hightailed it to the nearest flower shop to buy mom some flowers. Happy Mother's day to all the mom's with furry kids. Oh and happy mother's day to those mom's that have hooman kids, I guess that counts too! LOL! 

Kind of a weird Mother's day here for us. Mom's a little under the weather and didn't want to risk giving anything to anyone so mom and us furries are staying home. Meanwhile dad is heading to the family event for Mother's day. Mom was reasonably okay with him going. Reasonably! Wink-wink! Dad doesn't recognize that mom is a "dog mom". So it was a no brainer to ditch mom at home and go to the family event, which hurts mom's feelings just a bit. But that is okay, we will have fun around here without dad. We will snuggle and watch a movie, maybe order in a pizza. Hope mom shares the pizza with us.

Side Note...my baby sister is no longer Scarlet. The name just wasn't working for anyone including her. It has been changed. She was nearly named, "no-no".  Oh I tease, but believe me she hears "no-no" more than she hears her name right now. So anyway, mom and dad will keep her name a secret until tomorrow or Tuesday, just to make sure they have decided on the right NAME this time. So check back in the near feature to see what her name has been changed to. On IG she is known as #noname  

One Week In

It's been a week and 1 day since we got our new bundle of joy! And she is pure joy! I was optimistic Landon would adore having a "dog" sibling. I was right! As each day goes by he enjoys her more and more! As for her, each day that goes by she gets more comfortable in her new family and home.  On the Piper front, she likely fails to see the benefit of another havanese, but she is acting normal. She has not gone into hiding or anything like that. This little one has blended into the family very nicely so far.

So what is her name...welcome to our family...Scarlet Mia Vaughn!  In the end we went with Scarlet! Oh my, oh my! We mentioned months and months ago...probably back in November that the little girl would be named Scarlet. Then along about early February(before we knew of this little one) I started to change my mind. I was fearful of the haters! Fearful of those that would laugh and make comments based on the fact that I am so known for loving the color red. Worried that people would say..."oh of course she named the first girl dog she got Scarlet, she's so RED obsessed!" Well let the jokes begin! I finally came to the conclusion....I don't give a darn! So what...I love the color red and now we have a little girl named Scarlet. And yes, notice I even chose to spell it with only one T and not 2. Because scarlet is the color way to spell it. Scarlett is usually how most people spell it when using it as a name. We're going all the way with it...Scarlet just like the actual color! We spent all last week obsessing about names. Trying out and vetoing names rapidly. Finally yesterday morning after living with this nameless baby girl for a full week, the name Scarlet popped into my head as the first thought in my mind when I woke up. At that very moment it was a done deal! 

So the trio now consists of: Piper Ava, Landon Leo, and Scarlet Mia.  They all have English origin names and they all have 3-letter middle names.

National Sibling Day!

 

Today is national siblings day! So thank you, Piper, for being my sis. For putting up with me. I'm actually quite easy to put up with. Oh, okay so I'm a little rowdy. Duh, I'm a boy! But Piper handles me well. 

To my future little sis...I can hardly wait to meet ya! I know we will be best friends. 

And notice in this pic above there's lots of space between Piper and I...that space will be filled by little Miss Apple Dumpling very soon!

The Weekend

It's the weekend before little Miss Strawberry Shortcake arrives. Are we ready? Yes and no! She doesn't have a bed, food, a harness, puppy pads, or puppy training treats. But she comes into a house full of love that's ready to welcome her. Those things she needs can be ordered and here in a jiffy, so momma is not worried. We had nothing for Landon when he arrived. I didn't know he was arriving. But one quick trip to Petco and all was solved.

A quiet weekend before the chaos of a trio of pets begins. How will Landon react? How will Piper react? It's going to be an adventure. Landon is so easygoing, I don't anticipate any issues with him. Piper, is going to be like...oh, crap they multiplied! Then she'll run and hide for 6 months.

I talked to the breeder the other day, she says our little one is the sweetest of the bunch. That was good to hear. I said to the breeder, "she will be the sibling to havanese Landon". The breeder then said, "Landon from Instagram?" I then replied, "yes, that's him!" Breeder then said, "I know who he is and I follow him daily." 

Oh my, I wasn't expecting those replies when I just happened to mention Landon. The breeder and I then joked about him and his sunglass wearing obsession. Hopefully, his sister is up for wearing sunglasses too.

Playing Catch Up

Mom was too busy on Sunday to post something for Easter. Mercy me! So here I am playing catch up on the blog! For Easter, we ended up going to Aunt Donna's house. I got to meet some of my furry cousins and human cousins too. I was the only boy out of all the furry cousins. I even met my newest cousin that is a 6 months old female bulldog named Harlie. Yes, a girl named Harlie. Anyway, she's already bigger than me so it took me awhile to warm up to her. However, my cousin Addy, was my fave, but don't tell anyone else I said that. Addy and I are of similar breeds and we just seemed to recognize that about each other. Addy is part Bichon which is the cousin breed to Havanese, so we got along from the very moment we laid eyes on each other. It was such a fun Easter! Hope you all had just as much fun as I did!

Longwinded Landon Part 6

Henlo my lovely chocolate chip chippers, how are you doing? Oh me, I'm fine. Fine and dandy. Happy Palm Sunday! 

I woke mom up at the crack of dawn to let her know dad still hadn't come to bed. We soon found him asleep on the couch with the Madden football game still going and a package of M&M's tightly held in his hand. I did an excellent job of jumping on him to wake him up. He seemed to appreciate it!

This is a funny story. Mom thought she finally had it! Finally had the perfect name for my baby sis. There was NO WAY dad could say no to this name, especially after telling him what it means. So here's how it went...

mom: how about "blank" for the name of her?

dad: he repeats the name "blank"

mom: You're not saying it right, say it like this...

dad: What are you talking about? I'm saying it right. I'm saying it perfect. 

mom: No, you aren't. Here try again, like this...

dad: That's exactly what I'm saying. Sounds the same as when you say it. 

mom: No, you're saying it weird. It sounds completely different. There's like a weird southern twang that you are adding. It's like munster and monster. People in Texas can't say monster right. 

dad: Okay, let me try again...how about this...

mom: Forget it...clearly that's not the name for her. Back to the drawing board!

Oh these parents of mine! Mercy me! As you can see, still no news on what her name will be. Maybe someday they will make a decision. Starting to lose hope.

A few people on Instagram didn't realize my Sunglasses Squad was not a weekly thing so mom has been trying to deal with that issue. No big deal! Just had to set a few people straight. 

Dad got a bunch of little gifts from the company he works for but here's the thing about the gifts they are all "wintery" items. They are a little late passing those out to the employees. But that's okay all the gifts are pretty cool!

Happy Spring

Happy Spring my lovely spring rolls! LOL! Who's been watching basketball this weekend? We've watched very little. Not into it. Mom and dad didn't even fill out brackets. In case you were wondering, no, I didn't fill out a bracket either. I can't hold a pen. Lucky for you, I can type! Hehe!

Mom has been SUPER busy today. She started a special event for all my peeps on the 3rd Sunday of each month. So she has been busy all day with that. Literally, all day. She took a break to shower. But worked on Instagram all through lunch. A lunch dad had to make because mom had no time. The number of participates in my special event today more than doubled from last month. Can you believe it? Wowsers! But mom has loved working on my event all day. 

My Aunt Debra and Uncle Rob were here last night. We had a taco game night. I was not apart of the eating of the tacos but I did play the games. I made special appearances in the middle of the "bowling lane" on Xbox Kinect bowling. 

Tonight dad and mom will take it easy and have a movie night. Fairly typical Sunday evening in our house. Dad wants adventure and mom wants a spy movie. Well most spy movies have lots of adventure so they should make a decision on a movie rather quick. I'll be snuggling with mom throughout the movie!

Longwinded Landon (Part 5)

Henlo my lovelies! No, I didn't spell "hello" wrong. I spell it "henlo" it's the more sophisticated way of spelling it. I'm classy and sophisticated. LOL! I look super classy when I steal a shoe and run through the house with it! Class for days! 

Tonight is time change! Don't forget to change your clocks if you are somewhere that changes the clocks. If you aren't somewhere that changes the clocks then disregard this paragraph! 

Not much going on around here. Little bit of rain here and there. I think the rain might be more significant later tonight. My parents are having a campout in the living room tonight. They have a double showing of movies chosen to watch. Can you guess who's sleeping bag I will be sharing tonight? 

The name game continues in our household. What will my sister be called? Latest I heard, dad wants to name her Phoenix. Mom said the pup-pup's name will be Vegas long before she'd ever consider using Phoenix as a name. So lesson here...don't put your money on Phoenix put it on Vegas instead. Ha-ha, I guess that makes sense...Vegas takes lots of bets, gambling capitol of the world. In all seriousness I hope these parents come up with something decent. I have faith in mom when it comes to names but no faith in dad. You should hear some of his suggestions! Shameful!

Big Announcement

Uh-oh, I'm going to have to share my toys. Uh-oh, I'm going to have to share my momma. Uh-oh, I'm going to have to share the spotlight. Lookie....lookie...I'm pleased to announce to all, I'm getting a baby sister. She is currently 2 weeks old. She will come home in late April. No name yet! Mom and dad are at totally opposite ends of the naming spectrum. Dad likes superhero and word names. Mom likes human names that aren't too popular for pups. In the week two pics, you will notice she has one eye open. By next week both eyes will be open, I'm sure. Now that the big secret is out on the blog, and now that the blog has been caught up with pics...I'll post pics of her each week until she comes home. This is going to be quite the adventure.

Longwinded Landon (Part 4)

 

What in the world has mom dressed me in now? And where am I? Where in the world is Landon? I'm not sure if I look cool or if I resemble a tiny furry pimp? Mom was singing some weird song called Pimp Juice to me when she made this edit of me. I know that song was not appropriate for such a young man as myself to hear. When it comes to music, mom is not appropriate. She's got weird music likes. She blames her weird music likes on her age and her home state. I know nothing about either!

So Uncle Rob and Aunt Debra came over last night. It was a long night. Aunt Debra and mom fussed over my outfits and planning out my costumes for upcoming events. Mom wanted a second opinion on the costumes which Aunt Debra was delighted to give. A little too delighted in my opinion as she fussed over me as much as mom does. But I've learned...I just have to let mom have her fun dressing me up. It makes her happy. And in turn I hope seeing me in costume on Instagram brings smiles to others.

I'm actually very tired today. My aunt and uncle stayed late. Then after they left. Mom had to catch up on all the happenings with my instagram account, while dad played video games. It was about 3:30 in the morning before these parents of mine wanted to go to bed. Then mom woke up ridiculously early and couldn't get back to sleep, so she got me up and we started the day extremely early. So yeah, I have missed out on some crucial hours of sleep. I'm surprised I can handle typing this with the tiredness I feel.

Longwinded Landon (part 3)

Here I am! Back for another episode of Longwinded Landon! Today it's cookie time! Mom made this edit of me for a special event on Instagram today. First we of course did a photo shoot then mom made the edit from my photo shoot. Mom's newest hobby is photo editing!

I guess it was at some point during December when mom started playing around with the world of editing photos. She first just wanted to do it well enough to put a fun pic of me on her cell phone case. Then she entered a contest, not expecting to win but ended up winning with a teddy bear themed edit of me. The winnings were all dog related products so technically I scored big! LOL! Since then mom has won a few other contests. Last week however, the prize was for a human not a dog. Mom scored a substantial gift card reward.

The edit you see above is just for fun. It's not being entered into a contest. But mom and I had fun making it. I got a little distracted at one point and started playing with the cookies. What can I say...I love toys. All types of toys! 

Happy new week and happy March! I heard Spring is on it's way...I hope so! Mom is ready for warmer temps. Although it wasn't that bad this winter, rather mild, until the bottom fell out during the month of February. February by far is the coldest month in Texas. Looking forward to Spring!

Rainy Weekend

It's a rainy day here! It's been rainy the last couple days. But it's not overly cold so I'm fine with it. It feels like Spring is on its way. Although I believe we will have at least one more cold snap before it is officially Spring in Texas. 

I feel like baking! So I possibly will bake some cookies later. Seems like a good thing to do on a rainy day. 

Landon has a party on Monday and some other big events coming up. So I must spend some time today planning out his wardrobe. His party on Monday is Cookie Monster theme. I'm not sure yet what I will be doing for the photo. I need to brainstorm some more. He has prom, a bachelor party, and a wedding coming up. Plus boujee day! Oh my, I never thought his calendar of events would ever be quite this packed. But I love it! He has such a great personality, he needs to share it with others. 

Still staying home a lot, Saturday night entertainment will probably be a movie. We tried looking on Netflix last night for a movie, but we weren't focused enough. We just ended up watching one of our fave TV shows on DVD. We are so weird sometimes. We scroll and scroll on Netflix and can't find anything that we really want to commit to, as we groan about watching a movie that doesn't entertain us enough. Because we don't want it to feel like it was a waste of 2 hours. But yet, we'll pop in an old TV show on DVD and watch a mini marathon that is equal or longer than watching a movie. See...I tell ya, we're weird! LOL!

Quick Snap Sunday

What's better than one quick snap pic....5! All of me in sunshades...read on because I'm about to throw some shade! First though mom made this collage to promote my special event she hosted today on Instagram, and is still hosting that's why you are stuck with me at the helm of the blog. It's a pity isn't it? Not! I'm a cool little dude and your day would be brighter to be in my presence. I'm not conceited, I'm confident about my ability to make people smile. 

So what did I think of the snowstorm? I loved the snow! I loved playing in it. I loved eating it. It was like a giant snow cone. But no one could have foreseen the problems it was going to cause. For those that are unaware let this little furry Texan school you...the main power grid for the state froze. The grid was not originally built for below zero temps and it froze up when we had below zero temps for far too long. The result was, millions without power and rolling blackouts, plus contaminated water. Now you are probably asking how did the water get contaminated? Because pipes broke and froze at the city's water filtration system also due to the fact that Texas was having North Pole like temperatures. Once the reports about the water issues circulated the public started to panic. People started hoarding everything they could get their hands on as fear of no power and no water spread through the state. It was quite the ordeal, quite the rollercoaster ride for about 10 days. Weather has improved now though. Power grid has stabilized and water contamination issues have subsided. Things should be much better this week here in Texas! Lots and lots of damage to homes from busted pipes and damage to streets with broken pipes underneath. Not to mention the fact that lots of crops have been ruined, the food supply is damaged for sure. It's still going to be quite a mess for awhile! Overall, this week is the catch up week...get shipments into Texas...PLEASE! I need dog food! Tons of stores are closed because they have nothing to sell. Fast food restaurants have been closed because they have no food to sell either. Even gas stations have been closed because they didn't get gas deliveries since the snowstorm prevented that. Plus you had so many people hoarding gas as they wanted to sleep in their cars for warmth. Gas went fast last week! 

Here's to Texas...may it be a better week! A week where life slowly gets back to usual. The pandemic usual since the old before covid usual will probably be a year or more away.

National Love Your Pet Day

Today is national love your pet day! Oh my dear sweet fur babies...our "kids"! 

Piper you are sweet and difficult all at the same time. You like to do your own thing and march to the beat of your own drummer. You are scared of everything...I mean EVERYTHING. Especially the TV and water! Two pugs used to put up with your crazy antics and now you put up with the Lantics of your little brother. We love you Piper-girl! My Pipey! 

Oh no, what to say about my little dude...words can not explain how special you are. You are my little dude, my little shadow. You helped me heal from losing 2 pugs. You perfectly fill those paws! You are a little bit of Cody and a little bit of Simon with your added Landon spice! I can't imagine a more perfect little boy than you. I'm sure you were the pick of the litter. Your personality is dynamic, so easygoing, so loving, so playful. You make me laugh and smile every single day. A day is never complete without cuddling with you! Thank you so much for being the sweet and amazing little dude you are. I would throw anyone in front of a zombie or anything else for that matter to save you! 

More Of The Same

Still snowed in! Got more snow last night. It has warmed up a little...the real feel temp is 16° this afternoon. No sunshine though, still cloudy. I think the worst of it is over and now it will slowly warm up some over the next few days. I am so happy we were prepared. Stores shelves are practically empty. People are desperately standing in LONG lines wrapping around the building waiting for stores to open for the day in hopes that they have restocked. We have plenty of food and supplies! Thank goodness we have always thought ahead in situations like this. We've thought ahead in the past when snow has hit us and we thought ahead this time too. 

Brad is working from home. Not sure when he'll be returning to his office? I think maybe Friday or maybe not. Why go into work for just one day? He'll probably just finish out the week working from home. We'll see! On our street, I haven't seen anyone trying to leave their house today. 

I feel like staying home this much is not that big of a deal after all this covid stuff. It's like old hat to stay home! I just wonder if covid will drastically spike in Texas after suffering through this polar vortex? Hope not...but it probably will! Mercy me!

Oh yesterday was Mardi Gras...and of course Landon wore something for the occasion. I can't believe I got him to wear a mask. He wears hats, head boppers, and sunglasses frequently but I've never tried a mask. I was so surprised he wore it. This little boy is a champ!!! P.S. let me add...he is balancing that mask on his nose. The string in the back of the mask was too big for his little fluffy head. So he had to balance it to keep it on.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello my lovelies! It's the day of love! Although I show love 24/7. And smooches...oh boy, do I give smooches! 

Not much planned, still staying home till Tuesday, maybe Thursday...Wednesday is supposed to drop more snow on us.  The Valentine's meal is made by mom this year! Mom is making stew and will make cornbread later to go with it. I doubt I'll get a single taste. But I'm fine with that...mom said she's going to give me one of my special ring rawhides. Have you tried ring rawhide? It's a must-try! Mom got me the teething ring rawhides when I was a puppy and well I got addicted. Now I have the grown up version of the same thing. I can't have rawhide bones...I mean, I can have them but I treasure them so much and I never eat them. It's mind-boggling to mom, especially after her experiences with my older pug brothers. Simon would have never let a rawhide go uneaten...so I've been told.

Dad was pretty excited to watch Daytona today, but it is delayed as they are having bad weather in Florida too, different kind of bad weather than here in Texas. So he's playing video games. Mom is baking a pie. Piper is sleeping. And obviously....I'm blogging! May you all have a wonderful Valentine's day!

Longwinded Landon (part 2)

I'm back for another installment of Longwinded Landon! I do talk a lot! What to talk about now? The weather...it's freezing! But it doesn't bother me! I mean I don't want to spend all day outside but overall I'm dealing with the polar vortex just fine. Mom keeps me pretty bundled up at times. This is how cold it is...mom says standing outside in the backyard with me within a few minutes her face is frozen. As for dad...he went searching the house looking for his gloves. Now let me tell you...that's how you know brutal cold temps have hit Texas...when dad needs a snow coat and gloves before walking out to get the mail. LOL! By the way, he never found real gloves, he used his motorcycle gloves. LOL! 

So the weekend of love is beginning. I'm looking for love! Wait, mom says I'm still too young but the girls just keep coming for me. I got a valentine in Spain and two in the U.K. Another one in Switzerland too. Closer to home...I've got 2 in Ohio and the sweet Suzie-Q in Miami! Mercy...I got a lot of ladies that love me. I'm having trouble remembering them all. Love is complicated! Maybe I should skip the complication and just let mom be my valentine. She already told me, I was her valentine. I guess she gets two...me and dad! 

In other news, mom has specifically instructed dad to not go out and get her flowers on Sunday. I'll keep you posted, whether or not dad abides by mom's rule. I'm betting dad won't abide by her rule. But mom can be pretty persuasive. Due to the dangerous cold and icy roads the plan is still to stay home until at least Tuesday. Although that might be extended til Wednesday as more snow is suddenly predicted for Wednesday too. Really dad should just be happy he gets a pass on getting her flowers for Valentine's day this year. Don't you think?

Brr!

It is so cold! When I got up to take Landon out this morning my phone said the real temp was 10°! This is the coldest weather little Landon has ever experienced. He's dealing with it like a champ...better than his mom! 

In case you haven't heard there was a MASSIVE pileup on one of our most popular freeways today due to the poor weather conditions. There were 133 vehicles involved. It took hours upon hours for firefighters to free all the people stuck in their cars. Sadly 6 people did not survive. The pileup occurred in the early morning rush hour and at 12:30 in the afternoon people were still pinned in their cars waiting to be freed. That massive pileup literally brought a large area of the city to a standstill. Our mail never got delivered and our trash never got picked up, the DFW was basically closed today. Might as well have been on an extreme lockdown. Doubt things will be much different tomorrow.

As for Brad he was unable to go to work today due to the pileup. His company told employees to stay home. He is now off from work from now until at least Tuesday maybe Wednesday, depending on the weather conditions. Monday is supposed to be the worst of this "polar vortex" that is hitting Texas. I'm a little nervous about Monday...it's already pretty severe outside...and it's going to get worse? What the heck! The last time it was this cold I think was our first year in the mid-rise apartment with the pugs and a baby Piper at the time. 

So what are we doing these next 4 or 5 days...lots of staying indoors, lots of watching movies, and playing games for us during this now even longer long weekend. We'll probably be eating soup too. I hate soup! Yes, I hate soup! I don't know what is wrong with me, but I'm not much of a fan of soup. Never have been. Stew and chili, I like but not soup too much.  I still might end up eating it though because it is nice and warm on these super cold days. 

If you are in northern Texas...stay home and stay warm friends! If you are somewhere else...then hopefully you have better weather than us right now. Wouldn't take much to be better than our weather. LOL!

Quick Snap Super Sunday

As you can see, I'm ready for the big game! Got all my snacks ready too. Guac with chips, pizza, and cookies. Oh dear, I forgot the beer! Guess I'm sticking with milk! So who you got?...Team Fluff or Team Ruff? I'm Team Fluff all the way because I'm fluffy too. Good luck to all the Puppy Bowl "players", I hope you all get adopted. How could you not after you display your skills today? 

Haha! How many of you first thought I was talking about the Super Bowl when I began this post? Gotcha! Don't worry I'm all set for both Bowl games, Puppy and Super! I'll munch on all the same snacks for both. As for my parents, dad is only about the Super Bowl. Mom will watch both if she has time. She's busy baking right now. Let me just say mom's a trip, we aren't having a Super Bowl party like we usually do but that hasn't stopped mom from making a bunch of stuff. Trust me there's enough food for an army. She's doing a taco and nacho bar. Been prepping for 2 days. I tell you, she's crazy! Earth to mom....take a break...no one is coming over this year...so we don't need enough food to feed both teams. Someone help her! 

In other news, these parents of mine kept me up way too late. Dad was playing video games and mom got busy at an ungodly hour planning out my wardrobe for the rest of the month. Cue my eye roll! My personal Uber(aka Mom) didn't carry me to bed until 3:00 AM. Needless to say I need a nice long nap if I'm going to be able to stay awake for both Bowl games. Good news is I can take a short snooze during that Super Bowl halftime! Does The Weeknd have enough songs to do a Super Bowl halftime?...I don't actually know, I just know that's what I heard mom say! :)

Longwinded Landon part 1

Yep, there it is...I see it...it's coming...the weekend! Hope you all have had a wonderful week! I have been quite the party animal and my party animal ways will continue tomorrow when I go to my grandparents house to celebrate their birthdays. Grandpa said he especially looked forward to seeing me. 

Knowing mom I'll be dressed for the occasion too! I look forward to partying down. Do you think I'll score a bite of cake? No? Me either, and why won't I score any cake...well, have you met my mom? Enough said! LOL!

Mom is not impressed with the Super Bowl matchup! Anyone else impressed with it? She's not a Brady fan so the fact that he's in it makes her sick to her stomach. I think at this point mom is more concerned about the off season stuff and the rumors swirling around about the different quarterbacks that are/might change zip codes. Note to the Cowboys...I'm still available...I'd make an excellent narrow receiver! Houston?...I'm available for you too. I'd have to check with the parents but I think they'd be fine with moving to Houston. Oh but mercy me they have the worst humidity in the state. Can you imagine my Havanese waves in the humidity? I might be a sight!

Fluff, Rocky Road, Boujee, and Football

Why do shorter weeks always feel extra long? It's always nice having a 3 day weekend but then the weekdays just drag on and on. So let's see what happened this week? 

Oh yeah, we got a new president! President Fluff! I have a feeling this will be a fluff type of presidency so hence I have nicknamed him, President Fluff. Let me explain, on day one the media was asking "fluff" questions about his and Harris' favorite ice cream and the color schemes they each like to decorate with. No questions about policy and what the plan for the next 4 years is...no the media would prefer to ask President Fluff if he likes Rocky Road or Cookies and Cream more? Please help us! Then on day 2 he signs a bunch of "orders" that are pointless....fluff orders. One order was to get schools open again in the next 100 days. Um, schools are already open. If schools aren't open it's because of the liberal democrat teachers that don't want to work. Another order he signed was ordering a 100 days of mask wearing inside buildings. Uh, haven't we already been wearing masks inside grocery stores and CVS? Like I said this is going to be a fluff presidency! The news media is swooning over Fluffy and will be on vacay from covering anything of true importance for at least the next 4 years. 

On to more important things than the joke/circus show of our new administration. Like the fact it was boujee week for Landon on Instagram! I worked so hard on his boujee picture. He worked hard too. It took 3 photo shoots for his mommy/stylist to be happy with the pictures. My thoughts on boujee days have evolved...it's not just about his outfits, it's also about the setting. For 2021 I want to think about the overall presentation of him and the setting not just his clothes. Wish me luck!

Can you believe how fast January is going by? Tomorrow the Super Bowl teams are decided. The playoffs have gone fast. I'm torn on who I prefer? Both are horrible options for the NFC. The AFC...oh I can't pick one. Can we cancel out the NFC and just promote the AFC teams to the Super Bowl? Obviously, I know that can't be. But that AFC game might be better than the Super Bowl especially if you are like me and want to vomit every time you hear the names Brady or Rodgers! So yeah, please don't disturb me tomorrow when that AFC game is on...it's my Super Bowl! LOL!
