Quick Snap Sunday

Really mom? You don't know my good angles by now? I have no neck or feet. I mean I have 4 feet, how is it possible to get an angle where none of them show? Actually my whole body is missing in this pic. I'm like a floating head with messy hair and a tail sprouting from the top of my head. Man, oh man, mom really out did herself with this photo. I know it's supposed to be a quick snap pic but this is outrageous, 95% of me is missing.  #momisfiredasmyphotographer #nowhiringpetphotographerforlandon

Big Box

When a big box of stuff arrives at the door but it's too heavy to get inside. So what to do? Wait til hubby gets home to move the box inside or unpack the items on the front step? You can see which one I chose.

Biggest problem with unpacking the box was my little dude standing in the doorway watching all. He stays real well and is very obedient but there were a few items in the box for him, which I didn't want him to see quite yet. If you notice the red, white, and blue toy laying on top, it had to be smuggled inside without his eyes catching a glimpse of it. :)

Misunderstood

I'm feeling a little misunderstand lately. I was feeling misunderstood last Friday too. I got over it. But then something else occurred this week and once again I'm feeling misunderstood.

I take being a pet mom extremely serious. These are my babies. And oh my gosh I'd love to go toe to toe against any dog mom that says they love their baby more than I love my baby. Sorry but no you don't! I'd push anyone in front of zombies to save Landon. So if a zombie apocalypse happens don't be around me...because I'm saving Landon not you! Sorry, not sorry!

Now to the reason I feel misunderstood. I feel like it's been spread around that I don't like heartworm prevention and I don't like taking pets to the vet right away. Now remember I'd shove you in front of a zombie to save Landon. So how could those other two thoughts be true?

Here's the thing....yes, heartworm prevention annoys me. It annoys me, because vets just push it on dog owners and there is no thoughts on assessing whether or not your dog is at risk. I personally feel like Landon is not at high risk. I even felt like the pugs were not at high risk and they were short-haired dogs, which Landon is not. However, I'm not stupid...I'm not going to take any extra risk with something preventable so of course Landon is covered. However, I am smart enough to exercise my own thoughts and beliefs concerning this matter. Which means I do not agree that pets need to be protected from mosquitos year round. Vets want your money year round! PERIOD! How many mosquitos do you see in the middle of December?...exactly, my point! Look it up mosquitos can't live in cold temperatures, therefore dogs are not at risk year round for heartworm.

Now moving on to the next item I feel misunderstood about...do I rush my pets to a vet when I hear a cough or a sneeze? No, I don't! Okay so, I might not book an appointment after I hear one little sneeze...that just means, I simply exercise my own judgement as to when and if it's necessary to take a fur-baby to the vet. I'm not trying to mess around and play with their lives. Anyone that REALLY knows me, should know that! Remember what I already stated...I'd push you in front of a zombie to save Landon. I'm thankful for the years of experience with the pugs. I recognize a lot of symptoms and signs and I react accordingly. I've saved us at least 2 vet bills because I have been able to recognize Landon is starting to get an ear infection and I doctor him up myself, not needing to go to a vet. Then again there's been other situations when I've rushed a pet to the vet, like when Cody got stung by a bee. I rely heavily on my own intuition. I assume I rely on intuition similar to how a mom of human kids relies on her intuition. Generally when I'm unsure what to do, I do what I can and see if my fur-baby gets better within a "reasonable timeframe", if not I don't hesitate to book an appointment at the vet office.

Anyway, I hope this clears things up. People don't need to act scared or bashful or even weird to tell me about vet appointments they are taking their dog to. I'm not going to judge you! Trust me, I'm way too into my own life here to get too involved in my thoughts concerning when you take your dog to the vet.

The Mess

Clearly no one that has ever entertained the notion, cats are cleaner than dogs has ever cleaned up the type of mess I just got done cleaning up. Sugar and spice and everything nice...it's so much fun having a cat-daughter. Mercy me!

I accidentally bought the world's worst litter. It was a non-clumping formula. It was awful. When I first realized I accidentally got the non-clumping formula I thought who would ever buy this? Why on earth do they make such a thing? But after 2 weeks of using it I did realize it has a purpose for some. Like the Brad that existed before wifey came along. Brad never kept up with the litter box. He'd put new litter in and shove it in a closet and never mess with it until it started stinking up the place. Oh my gosh....I'd go insane to do it that way. I have to keep it as clean as possible by scooping it out daily. But because of my ridiculous need to keep Piper's litter box clean she is very picky about it being clean now also. I spoiled her to a very clean litter box, which I'm okay with.

Anyway, I couldn't stand the non-clumping litter I accidentally ordered and this weekend I ordered her old kind of litter. It arrived today. Thank the heavens! I cleaned up the biggest non-clumping mess in her box this afternoon. What a mess. I literally had to set our hose on "jet stream" to un-clump the clumps. Gross!

It's done and over with though. Her box has been fully cleaned from the non-clumping formula and new litter has replaced it. Never again will I make that mistake to buy non-clumping litter. I learned my lesson. I will pay extra close attention from now on.

Now my message to the normal brand of litter I buy...you know who you are, or you will when you read the next line...this is really all your fault because you removed a cute cat named "Little Bubs" from the box. I never had to remember the name of the litter, I just simply looked for cute "Little Bubs" on the box. How dare you remove "Little Bubs"! I miss seeing him! Where is "Little Bubs"?

Quick Snap Sunday

Remember how I recently mentioned Piper has developed a fear of the TV? Well this is her "hiding" under the coffee table while keeping a careful eye on that evil box showing images. Right before she settled in to keep an eye on the box showing images she did her "cat crawl" to get from another part of the house to this safe spot under the table. It's become rather entertaining to watch her navigate through the living room when the TV is on.

Cat Mom

I'm a proud pet mom. I'm a dog mom and a cat mom. Did I ever think years ago that I'd be a cat mom...nope! And at times it's still a little strange to me that I really am a cat mom. But then again, I'm sure many years ago Brad never saw two pugs and a havanese in his future plans either. I must admit too, I never saw a havanese in my plans...kind of assumed I'd always be a pug owner. However, Landon is one of the best decisions I've ever made. So much thought and research went into his breed before I ever mentioned the idea of getting a havanese to Brad. Anyway, great decision...I'm completely sold on this breed. I'll always have a special place in my heart for pugs, but havas are my new breed of choice.

Now getting back to the overall point of this post...here I am today doing my research on what? Cat litter boxes. I'm sitting here nit picking over different styles of cat litter boxes. I can't help but find it slightly humorous. Simply because I certainly never thought I'd be a cat mom.

Oh this part is kind of funny too. Last night when I realized Piper's litter box was breaking I told Brad. He instantly shut me down. He told me, it's my department. He doesn't care what litter box I buy and it's the last thing he wants to talk about. Okay so you know what that means? That means, I am the fulltime CEO of these "kids". Nope, not sharing the title. The reason I mention this little bit of info is because just a few months back he reminded me that the two "kids" we have right now arrived during our marriage. Meaning that we are co-CEO's of these two furbabes. We make the decisions together. Well apparently we don't make the cat litter box decisions together. So yeah, Brad doesn't know it yet. But I'm taking my title back...I'm the only CEO of these 2 furbabies in our household. He is my assistant!

What An Experience

Landon needed to go to the vet. Doing certain things while it is still a pandemic time is not easy. Believe me, it was an experience. First off no humans are allowed in the vet office. No dog is allowed to have anything on either: no collar, no harness, and no leash is permitted. They come out to get your dog and place a temporary name tag on the dogs.

So we arrive for our appointment and I call to tell them Landon has arrived. A vet tech came out to get him. Landon put up quite the fight. He was not wanting to go with the vet tech. He was like, "NO WAY, I AM NOT GOING WITH YOU LADY! I'M GOOD RIGHT HERE WITH MY MOM, THANKS!" It was so hard for me to watch and hear. He cried, he whined, he pulled, he tugged. He made quite the scene. So Landon goes in to the vet clinic and I stay in the car to wait. It was about 20 minutes until they called me on the phone to talk about why he was being seen. After that phone conversation I waited another 20 minutes or so for the next phone call to come pay at a window they recently had installed. I then went to pay. As for the window, it's a walk-up window that features a cutout at the bottom to slip a payment card through to the receptionist. Once arriving at the window I was reprimanded for standing too close. I had a mask on and there's a window, I was totally confused by the reprimand. But whatever! The receptionist did everything long distance she stood back from her side of the window as far as she could, she even shoved my debit card through the cutout back to me. It was rather weird. After I paid a vet tech brought Landon back outside to me. I don't think he has ever been that happy to see me as he was in that moment. I was happy to see him too. I apologized profusely that covid has screwed the world up so much. It was an experience. I have never been quite so anxious to get a vet appointment over and done with as I was today. It was a whole new level of desire to get through the appointment and be on our way.

The worst part is...I don't believe things are going back to the way they were before covid for a LONGTIME. I fear certain types of things have changed forever, it's never returning to how it was. Some things will come back but other things have been forever altered I believe. I also believe in 6 months, yes, 6 months when Landon has to go in for his shots in November I think his appointment will be handled the very same way.

What if drop off vet appointments are here to stay and paying through a window is here to stay?  Oh man, this stinks! I hate what covid has done to the world. I hate how weird and unfriendly people are now too. Covid is like everyone's built in excuse to be a jerk. Texas used to be so friendly, not anymore. It's filled with people reprimanding you for getting too close to a window and people walking with masks on and trying desperately to stay much more than 6 feet away.  It's also filled with people hoarding all they can.

Side note...Brad's office is not open to the public for now. He goes into work everyday but it's staff only that are allowed in the building, no residents, no prospective residents, no vendors, no one but staff inside. And what I'm about to say next is another reason why I think certain aspects of life are forever changed...Brad's company is having 2 windows installed at the leasing office for residents/prospective residents to come do "business" at the window. Business like get a pamphlet of the property, pay rent, or sign a lease and get the keys. Yep, covid really has changed things.

Wednesday...Hump Day!

How is everyone doing? Things are good here. I'm keeping busy. I never have a problem keeping busy. How is the food situation where you are at? Meat prices are getting more and more ridiculous by the day here. This is Texas...how can there be a meat shortage in Texas?...there just can't. Nonetheless some hamburger places have closed for now to help with the meat shortage, like Wendy's and McDonald's.

In other news, Piper has suddenly developed a fear of the TV. It's the strangest thing. She watches it all the way as she walks by. She seems super skeptical as to whether or not it's going to jump out and get her. I told Brad it's his World of Tanks game that has her on such high alert. She thinks she's going to get run over by a tank he's driving on his video game. At least it wasn't me that broke the cat! LOL!

We have a possum that has suddenly decided to take up residency in our area. He's in our backyard quite often lately. First time I saw him up close I may have screamed and ran to our backdoor. Meanwhile Landon switched into protective mode and let the critter know he controls our backyard. Then the other night when we saw the possum again. I ran for the door and convinced Landon to keep quiet and run inside with me. Once we got inside Brad decided he'd open the backdoor and try to make friends with the possum. So there was my husband standing in the doorway of our backdoor chatting with this possum until the possum decided Brad was loco and moved on. LOL!

Weekend Has Arrived

Was this a long week or what? It seemed to go by extra slow. But maybe that's because we've had an extra little issue to deal with. Nothing major just a flat tire issue.

As Brad exited our house to go into the garage on Monday morning he noticed he had a flat tire on the passenger side. It has taken him all week to figure this issue out. First he wasn't sure if he wanted to go back with the same type of tires. Once he decided that, he then had to find the right tires. Since he has a sports car it's not quite as easy to buy new tires. Especially when things have been shutdown for 2 months. He has been on the hunt for a special kind of tire that are used on many types of race cars. Last night he finally found 2 tires in Rockwall, Texas. So soon the tire issue will be solved.

Landon and I just got done spraying the plants outside. He got dirty while doing that. Then he needed a rinse off. Then I wrapped him up like a burrito and attempted to give him a mohawk on top of his head. That mohawk burrito pic was posted on Instagram. If anyone would like to find him on Instagram or the "gram" as he likes to call it...'catch him on the gram'...his username is @havanese.landon

Have a good weekend everyone! Stay in as much as possible, I know most states have lifted the lockdown order. But seriously lots of stuff is still closed and things that are reopening have major restrictions so it's kind of like we are still under a "semi-lockdown". To be honest I can't think of anywhere I'm that crazy to go to. I would like to go out to dinner with my husband but the restrictions would make that hard so we will wait until the restrictions are a little looser. If that ever happens?...oh geez!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's day to all the mom's of humans, dogs, and cats. Lucky for me, I'm a proud pet mom to a stubborn fat cat with a sweet nature and a darling rowdy little havanese. I love them both equally! Wink-Wink!

Flashback Friday

Flashback to a time when dad was sporting a Cardinals shirt because they played that Sunday. Remember football? Remember when sports were on TV? Oh 2019 was such a simpler time, before social distancing. Also this might be the last time dad's hair looked good. Sorry dad, but that might be true.

P.S. Yes, dad kisses me. Believe it! I'm very kissable! I'm the only dog, dad has "parented" that he can't resist smooching.

Cinco

This pic is being posted at the specific request of Landon's AZ grandma. I happened to tell my mom about this pic and she asked me to post it here too. Landon got into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo with a little help from his somewhat artsy mom.

Landon's Crew

Me and my crew, we are hardcore. We look hardcore right? I pretend I'm hardcore then the cat jumps at me and I go running. I guess you could say I'm a hardcore poser. Posing to be hardcore, I don't have much street credit. But I'll start working on it soon. Maybe! Anyway, now let me introduce my crew...Piggie, Lambchop, Monkey Dude, Raccoony, and Braveheart Lion. Can you guess which one squeaks the loudest?
