The major foodie, Simmie is just that, a major foodie! He loves hanging around the kitchen. In his life thus far there hasn't been anything that has hit the kitchen floor that he hasn't attempted to lunge for. Sometimes he's successful lunging for the particular item he believes must be tasty, other times his hopes are dashed as his mommie does her best to get to the item first.
Well last night a first occurred. An incredibly unlikely first! It was the great spit out of 2015. I didn't think it was possible. Apparently it is...we found something Simon doesn't like! Mushrooms! A mushroom hit the floor, he was prompt to move right in on it. Scooped it up in his mouth gave a few chews then spit it out. Furthermore as he turned to walk away he spit out two addition small pieces.
Brad instantly cracked up then joked about whether or not Simon had ever been told mushrooms can give you hallucinations! He proclaimed Simon to be smart enough not to partake of mushrooms. Obviously he was only kidding around as my white button mushrooms I was putting in a sauce are not hallucination triggering. However, there is a drug out there termed "mushrooms" and apparently it does induce hallucinations. Yikes!....I guess Simon wasn't taking any chances.
It was rather cute and funny to see Simon spit out a mushroom. The look on his face was great. He looked like Cody does when we try to give him something new. As most know by now, Cody has a deep rooted fear of being poisoned. Anything brand new that is given to him he looks at with great suspicion. LOL.

The Newly Designed Food Bags!
Rise up Simon, rise up! We were able to finally find the boys food. The stores restocked!!!! It was about time, believe me! Dumb move to let the shelves completely run out before introducing the newly designed bags. Come on people! Don't they know pugs have to eat!
I'm still not sure who to blame? Petsmart or the company that makes the boy's food. It doesn't make sense to me though for Petsmart to want a bunch of empty shelves in their numerous stores in the city. It's more logical that the makers of the boy's food was VERY SLOW getting the newly designed food bags out to the stores. They wanted to be sure it all got changed over at the same time, instead of having a few bags featuring the old look. Anyway, crisis averted! Our pugs are the new owners of a 24 pound bag!
However, here's the kicker! The bag no longer features a pug on the front. A cute little puggie has been replaced by a French bulldog! Sometime this week I will be assisting Simon in writing a nasty letter about this latest issue to the manufacturers of his food. How could the pug be replaced?
When we went out late Friday night to look yet again for the boys food, Brad said as we arrived at the store he was hopeful for two things: they had restocked the newly designed bags of food and that the pug was still on the bag. He then added, "because if that pug isn't still on the bag I don't want to see the look of disdain on your face!" Well, I was happy overall to see food for the boys back on the shelves but yes, I had a look of disdain on my face once I realized no puggie was featured on the front. I shake my fist at those chumps for replacing the pug and so does Simon!

Quick Snap Sunday: Tuckered Out!
Tuckered Out!
Let me start by saying it's a rough life being a pug! This particular pug especially has a rough life. He has a cranky older brother that believes he rules the world, aka King Cody! He also has a pesky little sister. She jumps on his back, attempts to kiss him, and generally annoys, aka Hyper-Piper!
This particular week was especially rough for this puggie because despite living in a BIG city, the city nearly ran out of his dog food. A puggies gotta eat! No one can imagine the stress he was under worrying if he was about to have his last meal or if his human parents were going to be able to find the right food he needs. Wondering if stores were ever going to restock was his daily concern. Trust me, his mommie was wondering if the stores would ever restock too! So it is no wonder this pug was so tuckered out last night.
Totally and deeply crashed out, half in his bed and half out of his bed. His tongue is out a little too, a sure sign he's extremely tired. If you look close in the photo you can notice there's another bed underneath(look under his front leg). I didn't have the heart to move him to get Cody's bed out from underneath him. When it was time to put Cody and Piper to bed, Cody was taken to bed with a living room pet bed. Simon got to enjoy double stacked beds all night long. His reward for enduring such a rough week!

Have We Hit The Panic Button?
If Simon only knew. If Cody only knew. This is how you know you love your pets. I mean LOVE your pets! The other day the boys were in need of food.
After a lunch date out we headed for Petsmart! There we both stood staring at the empty shelves as we glanced around assuming someone hid the boys food. Where is their brand? They had a few bags of the brand we use but not the correct type of food anywhere in sight. We looked up and down the other food aisles. We came across another brand that features a cute puggie on the front just like the kind we buy the boys. However, it was not their normal food. Brad was ready to get it. I on the other hand likely was displaying the same look on my face Simon would've been displaying had he seen the empty shelves with none of his food in sight.
Next up was another Petsmart! Nope, no food there either. I couldn't help but begin to wonder is their food company going out of business? Are they done making this brand of food? Brad went to seek an explanation from a store associate. Sigh of relief, the company is simply changing their packaging.
We were soon on our way to the 3rd pet store of the day. We finally snagged a bag. Problem is, it was the world's smallest bag! And we have 2 puggies. We are nearly out once again. We have been serious stalkers of Petsmart over the last few days hoping to snag another bag but no success yet!
Have we hit the panic button? Trust me, I'm hovering over the panic button! Guess what we are doing tonight? Hunting around town for more of the boys food. All I have to say is, I hope the company that makes the boys food hurries up with changing their packages. The next thing I must add, they better keep the pug on the front label! Or else Simon is revolting! And so am I!
The boys haven't had any other type of food since I adopted them. Basically their entire lives thus far has featured only one type of food! So I'm not interested at this point in changing brands!

Quick Snap Sunday: Indoor Sunning For Fur-Kids!
Indoor Sunning For Fur-Kids!
This is a morning ritual in our household. I take the boys for a long walk then much to my surprise they come home to do their best to soak up the sunrays bursting through our windows in the morning. It's a bit surprising since the boys have been outside so long so recently in the day. Perhaps, they've learned the sun only hits our place for a short time in the morning, soak it up for as long as you can when you can.
It's funny to watch them move with the sun. They start out where you see them in the pic above then move over to the beds as the sun rises more and more. Thank goodness we get morning sun! Much prefer a little morning sun over that super hot late afternoon sun. I used to wish our place got more direct sunlight for the boys. They love a good balcony full of sun to sunbathe. Now though I'm good with the amount we get.
In the pic above, the trio is all present. Can you spot Piper? She's a little hard to see but she's there. All that direct sunlight made it harder to see Piper! Notice Cody's tongue? This is an action shot clearly...he must have been licking his lips after return from a trip over to the water bowl. LOL!

Bath Time
It was bath time in the Vaughn household for the pets. Yes, I said pets. Meaning Piper gets a bath too! Ever seen a soaking wet cat?
Now remember I'm crazy but as Brad always says I'm the good kind of crazy. Who bathes a cat regularly? Me! Yes, indeed. For many months she watched her brothers get baths. Then one day I thought I'd throw in with them. Low and behold she stayed.
She now patiently waits her turn. It's the funniest thing. Brad's still in disbelief concerning me bathing our cat-daughter. Cats keep themselves clean, she doesn't need to be bathed. However, I like treating her the same as the boys. No favorism and she seemed to be curious that one day a few months back so I tossed her in. She's been getting regular baths for months now. She shares a towel with Simon. Poor thing doesn't get her own towel. Only because I don't want to use up 3 towels every time. Her and Simon happily share one.
I think to her it's just normal. The day Brad found her and brought her home we gave her a bath 3 times that night. She was such a mess! So many mites were eating at her. She got lots of baths during her first few days with us. She likely began to assume it was going to be the nightly routine. As can be understood that in the here and now getting her to line up with her brothers when it's bath time isn't that difficult of a task. Check out the pic below, after her bath she's eager to check herself over and get all her hair going in the right direction again. :)

Have We Bonded More?
I kind of thought Simon and I had bonded about as much as one senior citizen pug that has only known one mommie could have. I assumed we were at quite the high level of knowing each other. But yesterday the little dude threw me a curveball so to speak.
During Simon's lifetime he's had moments when he's required extra attention. I have termed his necessary moments of extra attention as "mommie time". He sometimes needs "mommie time" but he's not obsessive about it. He'll have mommie time moments when he wants to sit in my lap or maybe even cuddle. I know with that last statement Simon buried his head in his paws as he realized his "street credit" just plummeted.
Anyway, yesterday he was obsessed with me. I couldn't shake him. He's usually quite independent. He has his mommie time moments but they aren't constantly. Yesterday was one gigantic unending mommie time moment. I'm still mystified as to why he was so needy yesterday. Both Brad and I are! It was kind of funny. I am used to Cody following me from room to room. He's such a momma's boy. But Simon is the one that is content to sit in a room by himself. He doesn't feel the need usually to follow me around, unless he knows it's treat time. No Simon wasn't sick yesterday, he felt fine. He was simply wanting to be right next to me all day long.
It's as if he wanted to repeat the day before when him and I went out and about just the two of us. Perhaps, he felt extra bonded after our adventures on Friday? Then again, it's not like him and I have never ventured out together. Because every time he needs to go to the vet it's only the two of us. Maybe I made the day extra interesting to him by taking him to see Brad at work? Who knows! It was slightly weird though to be nearly joined at the hip with a pug! So if anyone asks Simon and I appear to be EXTRA bonded! :) Wouldn't have it any other way, my little puggie boy!
**Update....It appears we are entering day 2 of Simon and I being extra bonded! ;)

Quick Snap Sunday: Two Patriotic Pugs
Two Patriotic Pugs!
This was Brad's pic today! He wanted our patriotic pugs to be showcased. Aww, look at our boys hamming it up!
What can I say? We have two pugs that are used to me dressing them in things for pics. So when it came time last Sunday on the 5th of July to pose for some pics together they were happy to do so.
Look at them! They both are content with those little hats on their heads. What you can't see in the pic, is Brad laughing in the background. I think he's still a little surprised I am able to get not one, but two pugs to sit and wait while I snap their picture.

Can You Relate?
There I was with Simon ready to leave the parking lot of the vet office. While we were in the office the sprinklers must have come on and caused a few puddles. I quickly assumed those puddles likely had a magnetic charge running through them. A charge that would inevitably draw Simon's "magnetic" feet. He loves puddles! If there's wide open completely "dry" space to walk and one puddle, Simon will walk thru the puddle. It's a given! So there I was waiting for the cargo door to open automatically, balancing Simmie on my left hip as I dig through my purse on my right side looking for my sunglasses. As I dig and dig I soon realize my sunglasses are on my head buried in my hair. Geez! Please tell me you can relate? Somebody please tell me I'm not the only lunatic! My excuse...it's a hectic Friday, with very little extra time for anything. Totally preoccupied!
When Cody went to the vet to get his shots he then got to visit the car wash with me. Well Simon got to visit daddy at work. He's such an explorer. I think he explored every square inch of Brad's office. Before we left he charmed his daddy for a drink!
We've been keeping up with Wimbledon regularly! This is the final weekend. Hmm, maybe that means I need to make a very British breakfast sometime this weekend? We made sure while we visited Britain to try their version of pancakes. Tasty, yet quite different from ours. But more similar to our pancakes versus the French version of crepes. In case anyone was wondering.
Hopefully, a relaxing weekend is on tap for us. Watch Wimbledon finals and possibly have a movie night. Sounds good! We both can't remember when we had a relaxing weekend without anything scheduled or company visiting. This is a weekend reserved for just us five! I'm sure people can relate to busy weeks and busy weekend as well! Cheers, to a calm weekend!

Quick Snap Sunday: Double Celebration
Double Celebration!
Today there are 3 pics in this Quick Snap Sunday post, basically because I didn't want to choose just one. All were taken last night at Brad's bday party. It was a double celebration night. Celebrating America's birthday and Brad's birthday. Woo-hoo tomorrow is his actual bday! We're both off work!
I think a good time was had by all last night. I certainly enjoyed hosting the evening in honor of my husband. These pics demonstrate one of many highlights of the night in my opinion. A few of our nephews got the idea to put a little hat on Cody. The hat was actually part of the décor I had as decoration on the tables. Surprisingly he enjoyed having it on his head. He didn't fight it at all. He even paraded around with the tiny 4th of July hat atop his head. My fave was when Brad stopped to tell Cody how great he looked in his hat then tried it on himself before giving it back to Cody.
All the pics were taken with my camera phone and as a result are not the best of quality. They are still cute, worth sharing in my opinion. What is it about camera phones that they take great pics during the daytime hours with good natural light and subpar slightly blurred photos indoors during evening hours? Oh well as I said they are still cute. Wish they were clearer yet good enough!
Pic 1: Cody proudly displaying his hat.
Pic 2: Brad and Cody sharing a moment as Brad tries on the hat before returning it to Code-man.
Pic 3: Brad, Chloe, and Cody pose together. Chloe was our flower girl back when we got married.
