Oh my, oh my I couldn't believe my eyes nor could I believe my ears as I heard the loud wind whistling all around us as I took Cody out for his late afternoon walk. The wind is ridiculous outside right now. I've seen a lot of wind gusts since moving to TX but what is going on right now is quite incredible. Not incredible in a good way. Brad is missing all the action outside as he is napping.
I cut the walk slightly short because there was too much debris flying around. I didn't feel like risking it any further. I was having trouble walking a straight line with the wind so strong. Now if I'm having trouble walking straight, Cody was most certainly having trouble. He was bobbing and weaving trying to dodge plates, cans, sticks, etc. At one point I picked him up because a pedestrian gate at the back of the property was open, meaning that nothing was slowing debris down from going through the wide open gate.
Honestly, if you are somewhere in the DFW area refrain from doing stuff outside this evening. If you don't have to be out and about then stay home. Not worth debris flying at your vehicle and messing it up. I don't trust that tree limbs and entire trees could easily be coming down tonight. It's crazy wind but at first glance the sun is shining bright and it doesn't appear to be a crazy weather day but believe me it is!

Quick Snap Sunday
Can I Hold Your Paw?
Aww, how sweet is my little fur-baby duo? Piper reaching out for her big brother's paw, so cute. They stayed like this for quite some time. Yes, Cody was rather tolerate of her actions.
Before this moment occurred another moment occurred not caught on camera. Which was likely best. I arrived home with Cody from the morning walk. I noticed Piper immediately walked up to Cody, I assumed she was going to say hi and maybe give him a sniff. Next thing I know she leaps upward at him placing her paws around his neck, as if she was giving him a bear hug. He quickly backed up a step trying to shake his little sister off. No such luck, she didn't budge, she remained with her grip firmly around his big pug neck. He backed up again, this time he had backed into the wall, he was stuck. Stuck feeling the "pain" of his little sister's loving gesture of a bear hug, now that the wall was preventing him from going back further and his sis wasn't loosening her grasp. What is a Cody-man to do? Start whining! Once he started whining I had to intervene, I was quick to pry his koala bear-little sister off of his neck. He then went about his business, which was to whine until he got breakfast. LOL!
Piper used do things like that with Simon daily. She'd bear hug him. She'd give him kisses every morning too. For the most part he was unfazed by it. If she lingered too long with her loving gestures he'd give a slight shrug, which she'd then get the point and move on. They were quite in tune with one another.
Despite the fact that she wasn't hurting Cody in any way earlier this morning, he still wasn't into her loving gesture. Not his thing! However, he did allow the moment captured above in the pic to occur! See he can be loving...somewhat! LOL!

The Sign

Hmm, I wonder how well this would go over in my kitchen? LOL! It's a sign I came across, no it's nothing I would seriously hang or live by.
There might be days I would like to live by this sign, but those days are few and far between. Thankfully! I love how the "to my kitchen" is all underlined! I also love how Monday the kitchen is closed. Who hates cooking on Monday? I'm like Garfield when it comes to Monday, I want to pretend Mondays don't exist. I always end up cooking, but there's usually a theme to the dinner, simply to make it interesting for myself!
Great sign. Made me laugh. Oh and it's red! Gotta love that too!
Big Time Freebie
Raise your hand if you've ever been annoyed or inconvenienced by Amazon's return policy? I have my hand high up in the air. They don't like returns. They are huge sticklers on their 30 day policy too. They simply do not care if you bought a gift for someone in November but didn't give the item to the person until late December. Then the person you gave the gift to didn't try out the gift until early January, good luck in that situation. Amazon will tell you to take a flying leap because they don't care about your problem due to the fact the 30 days ran out. Well what occurred the other day for Brad has made all the issues in the past with Amazon's return policy just a slight bit easier to take.
What happened? Oh it's a good story! Pop some popcorn....I'll wait! Just kidding it's not that good. Anyway, a package was delivered to the office the other day from Amazon. It was a rather large package. It kept getting in the way in the package room and Brad got annoyed that he had to keep moving it around the room. After being annoyed by this large package one too many times he got curious and glanced at the name on the shipping label. He didn't recognize the resident name on the label. He then ran the name through the apartment database, nothing came up. Next he assigned one of the leasing agents the task of calling Amazon to tell them the package has been incorrectly delivered, there's no one by that name here. Well guess what? Just like I stated earlier in this post, Amazon doesn't like returns. It's too much of a hassle for them. Amazon told Brad's employee to keep it or give it away because they don't want it back.
Since the ladies in the office didn't want the large package, Brad came home with it. What did he come home with? Curious aren't you? What was in the large box? A brand new acoustic guitar! Yep, Brad is the new owner of a brand new acoustic guitar. Believe me, Brad already has enough guitars around here. One in our home and two in our garage unit. But I'm all for trying to sell it! I think it would be easy to sell and it's already packaged up in a great box. Soon to be listed on ebay! Wink-wink! Brand new acoustic guitar is definitely worth something. Then again he may have the option of taking it to Guitar Center or a Best Buy(one with a music center) explain the situation and they may take it, giving him store credit in return. We'll see what he decides! I know he doesn't plan on keeping it though! Quite the freebie, thanks Amazon!

Soak It In, And Give It Right Back
If you are a Cowboys fan you LOVED the display at the NFL Draft in Philadelphia tonight. Brad and I gave Cowboys former player, Drew Pearson, whom announced the Cowboys pick a standing ovation. My husband ate it up, every word that Pearson dished out to the Philly crowd Brad was cheering him on. I had no idea until I moved to Dallas the PURE HATRED that exists between Dallas and Philly. Pearson soaked in the hatred from the crowd and gave it right back to them. In my husband's opinion..."It was a beautiful moment".
The video below is one of the best if not the best announcement of a Draft pick ever....that is if you are a Dallas fan and you love one of their fave former players giving Philly heat! LOL!!!

Fun Tip For A Fur-Baby
Just dropping in to share with all a quick and fun tip, not to mention healthy treat for your fave furry little one or two! Warm weather months are just around the corner. If you are in our neck of the woods I'm not basing that statement on today's weather! LOL! As I type this I'm wearing a comfy sweatshirt and thick winter socks. LOL! And of course Cody's in clothes today!
Anyway, back to my healthy treat for pets...I've started chopping up fresh fruit then freezing the chunks of fruit for Cody to enjoy at his evening snack time. He loves the challenge of the frozen yummy fruit to tackle. It's a challenge for him but not too much of a challenge like a rawhide. He no longer gets rawhides! So far I've done this with chunks of fresh strawberries, whole blueberries, or slices of bananas. Cody approves of all! But his fave is clearly bananas!
Another thing I've done for years for the boys is mash up an overripe banana then mix in a little dab of peanut butter. I then freeze the concoction in their bowls. That is a messier option, I will warn. If you have a dog like Simon, mess isn't a problem. If you have a dog like Cody, plan on wiping the floor a bit once he's done.
I think this time of year frozen chunks of fruit are especially welcomed by furry little ones. Just like us and our liking for ice cream on a hot day. I must wrap this up, time to think about dinner!

News Of The Day
When my husband arrived home for the day I never could have predicted what the big news was he quickly shared with me. My response was, "Are you kidding?" Followed by, "No!"
Looks like we will be moving again before the year is done. Or at least there's a super high chance of that. An estimated 97% chance of another move sometime soon. The uncertainty of Brad's job strikes again! Him and his co-workers were informed this afternoon that this property is going up for sale this week. Oh man, oh man! This property along with the sister property next door will be sold. Who knows when? Who knows how long the sell will go on for?
So here's what we know...not much! Brad will remain with the company that currently manages this property. Once the sell is complete the management company that Brad is employed by will move him and the rest of the staff. It's a 7 person staff they have to move. And yes the plan is to indeed move the staff, not cut anyone loose. Whomever ends up buying the property will have to find their own staff they will make it clear in the sell that the current staff will not stay. There's a very small chance that we could continue to live here if he gets transferred to a property in the area, but that's an incredibly small chance.
We are currently in limbo. Where will the staff here be sent, it's a mystery? Can anyone say Dallas? Please Dallas! Just kidding, I've gotten used to it out here. I'm good with staying in the area if Brad's sent to a property nearby. We shall see how fast things transpire! I really do like this apartment so I will be kind of sad to leave if that's what happens.
I did ask where the properties are that Brad's company owns. All are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as far as Brad knows. That was a big sigh of relief as I wasn't into moving to San Antonio or Houston. Thanks, but no thanks! Hmm, should I start packing? Just kidding, I think we'll know when the sell is getting close to happening. There will be prospective owner tours, file audits, and inspections. It's a process. I'm unclear though how quickly a person/company will go from a prospective owner to the new owner! We'll see! Yet another curveball thrown our way this year so far! It is what it is!

Quick Snap Sunday
Space Heater Time!
What happened? I thought we were heading into late April? Isn't May right around the corner? Isn't May a "warm weather month"? I'm a confused pug!
Here's what I do know, on Friday night I was tucked safely in my bed. Yes, I do recall a slight chill in the air when I was walked right before my bedtime, overall I paid little attention to that chilliness. However, next thing I know, I'm walking out our front door on Saturday morning greeted by a chilly wind slapping me in my cute little face. Upon returning home, this was the scene. Me dressed in my little green flannel shirt sitting in front of the space heater. The new space heater, might I add. My human parents gave me this space heater as a "housewarming present" when we first moved to this new place out in the middle of nowhere. Aren't they kind? Now all my peeps back in AZ are completely unaware about stores still offering space heaters for sale in the month of March, am I right? Of course, I'm right! I know these things! Had my parents not bought this heater at the end of the season a few weeks back I could have been frozen to death by the start of today. Space heaters rule!
Don't ask me why I'm sitting the way I'm sitting in this photo. Because I don't know. All I know is my mommie washed my bed and it's super puffy now, gotta mash it down some. Peace out, Cody out!
Relax and Movie Watch
It's been a quiet weekend for us. My husband begged me that we wouldn't have much going on this weekend as we had quite a bit going on last weekend. Let's see, we've watched a movie both Friday and Saturday nights. As for today, Brad got pancakes served to him. I haven't made pancakes since we moved. Can you believe it? I haven't baked much either. I baked for Easter last weekend. Outside of Easter baking though the cookies and bread I made earlier today is all I've baked since February. Clearly, I've been going through some things. Slowly trying to get back to normal. As normal as I can be. After all it's me and I'm a little crazy...the good kind of crazy! :)
What movies have we watched this weekend? Sing and the new Jack Reacher movie. If you aren't familiar with the Jack Reacher installments then skip that one. You know me...I can't miss a good action spy movie. Nor can I miss anything military-ish. Oh man, I love spy movies, as well as TV series. Brad's into spy related movies/shows too but there is one subject matter that ranks higher than spy stuff for him. It's what I have termed, "gloom and doom". He loves things where mankind is being taken over by aliens or some type of foreign being. Doesn't necessarily have to be aliens. If there's an unknown something taking over the world never fear, Brad is there to watch the gloom and doom play out. LOL!
Is it strange that we are adults without children and we rented the movie Sing? Well that's us! I doubt either of us will fully leave our sense of childhood wonder behind no matter what ages we achieve. After Sing was over on Friday night, Brad happily declared that we have to add Sing to our collection. As for tonight, Star Wars Rogue One is on tap! Hope all have enjoyed a good weekend!

Hunting
Easter egg hunting isn't just for the little kids. It's for those still young at heart too. This is granny out hunting Easter eggs. She waited to hunt for eggs after most people had gone home for the day this past Easter Sunday. She found 7 eggs that the little kids in the family missed. Such a heartwarming pic! Notice how green everything is! As I always say....I love TX in the Spring! Super pretty! Pic was taken with a camera phone, so quality isn't as detailed as it should be...still a nice pic though!
Zero
Guess how lucky we were this weekend? We got new neighbors. New neighbors now occupy the apartment above us. This is Brad's great luck too, the previous tenants in the apartment above us were evicted by him and the new tenants...well let me tell the story as it has developed so far.
The 3 major issues at this complex that I can see are as follows: people that don't bother to put their dogs on a leash, people that don't bother to pick up after their dogs, and a large pit bull population. The large pit bull population is the result of the previous management not caring and/or new tenants simply lying to get into an apartment. Pit bulls are not a permitted breed! I'll get back to the pit bull issue in a second, after I reiterate one of my major pet peeves(no pun intended)...people that do not leash up their dogs annoy me. Come on people, don't you love your pet? Certainly it's wonderful when dogs can stay right with their owners and not go astray but what if something comes out of nowhere to distract your dog? I mean in a blink of an eye it could be goodnight and good luck Fido. Okay enough of that, it's my weird issue! Back to the pit bull issue, they have ZERO place in apartment complexes! ZERO!!!
Since I am the very happy human mommie to a puggie named Cody, I have of course taken mental note as to the apartments where pit bulls reside around here. On Friday the new neighbors moved in above our place. They were on-site transfers. Imagine my surprise when I clued into the fact they have not one, not two....but THREE pit bulls. YES I SAID 3...PITBULLS! Protecting Cody is a brand new issue. Now here's the kicker to the story of the new neighbors, they were previously in a quiet corner of the complex apparently hiding these 3 beasts. No one had made management aware of the fact that this household includes 3 pits. Hmm, I wonder whose wifey it was that clued in the management two days ago? Do you have any guesses? Wink-wink!
It's illegal to have 3 dogs in one apartment. Not to mention the fact that it's illegal to even have 1 pit bull in an apartment. The neighbors are pretty smart though they walk the pit bulls one at a time. And two are nearly identical. So yeah, they've been sliding by!
Well folks I'm so fast at making friends wherever I go. LOL! The new neighbors that have only lived above us for 5 days now glare at me, stare at me, and mumble under their breath when I walk by with Cody in my arms. Guess how much I care? ZERO!!!
As if Brad wasn't going to see the beasts for himself soon enough. When you are a pet parent you get familiar super quick with the dogs around. The ones to be aware of, as well as the ones that your dog might enjoy playing with. Yes, I'm the primary walker of Cody. But Brad's quite aware too, they wouldn't have been able to hide those pit bulls too long when living above our place. I guess it's not just our weird luck to now have to worry about protecting Cody from 3 pit bulls but the new neighbors didn't have the best of luck either. They were hiding these dogs and now that's all coming to light!
Definitely no hanging out unsupervised on our walk-up in front of our apartment for Cody, I will not take any chances like that. He is old and is no match for a pit bull. Even in his prime he wasn't a match for a pit bull. Pug vs. pit bull....no possible outcome favors a pug!!!

Quick Snap Sunday(the return...it's been awhile)
"Thou shall not pass because, I, Piper the cat, says so!"
Powerful words from such a small creature. She loves hiding in her tunnel or in the cube part(where she's pictured), She's commonly hard at work moving her tunnel around the house. We try to keep her tunnel in one place but that's next to impossible thanks to Pipey!
Bunnies and Pugs!
Super cute pic! Bit of a fake out! No these are not our boys. That should be clear since we are missing one. We're a one puggie household now! Yet to me, pugs are like socks, you need two! Anyway, back to the pic above, the resemblance is incredible. Isn't it? Same exact body-types representing each of my puggies. Apparently I'm not the only one that humiliates pets with costumes and such. LOL! I must also add, the backdrop of this pic looks exactly like what I see a lot of nowadays in our new area of the world.
I have been quite busy lately and haven't been keeping up the blog like I should. I'll do better at that in the coming weeks. I was super busy yesterday in preparation for today. Technically my super busy mode started on Friday as I got some early prep work done for all I made to take to granny's today.
I warned Brad earlier this week we need to arrive a little early at granny's because I have to set up some things once we get there. Shh, here's a little unknown secret...if we are ever late getting anywhere....it's never yours truly that held us up....but shh, I didn't say that! Here's another little secret...Brad has this thing about packing a bag when we go to granny's for holiday celebrations. Sounds weird huh? Well let me explain further. He packs a small duffle bag of extra clothes and grabs some sports equipment. This is in case he can interest anyone in playing football. However, the duffle bag never gets packed until I am standing at our front door with a hot plate in my hands waiting on him to come out of our bedroom after hearing him tell me "just one more minute". Oh my! LOL!
Well here's some great news for Brad...since we moved to our new location the trip out to granny's farm was cut in half. Yep, we ended up moving a lot closer to granny! So early in the evening last night when I reminded Brad we needed to arrive at granny's "early" tomorrow, his simple reply was, "Well, we're already halfway there!" LOL!
Happy Easter to all!

Ruff Day
There is a sign that hangs in our home it features key words and phrases that accurately detail the story of us! The places, dates, and special items dearest to Brad and I as a couple. On this sign it proudly states, "3 Fur Babies". Sadly the sign lies now! As I went to straighten that particular sign today I couldn't help but think of Simon.
I miss my little man. I miss his sweet little face. I miss his presence. I even miss him staring me down until he got walked, fed, or given a treat. He was an amazing timekeeper!
Yes, today has been a rough, or rather "ruff" day. I guess sad moments like this are to be expected for awhile. That little dude was apart of my life and our life together for many years, we miss him.
I will say this though Cody is acting better. It was ruff for him at first. I think the last 10 to 14 days he has been more like the "real" Cody. As for Piper, just last week I was finally able to get her to sleep in a pet bed. Since losing Simon, she would only sleep on the floor or an accent rug. All week though so far, she has put herself to bed in the bed that used to be Simon's.

I Love You, Cody
Cody...Cody...Cody! Oh that boy of ours. He keeps us busy. Busy guessing on how to respond to his ever changing moods. Some pets are steady as a rock. Some people are steady as rocks. And others keep you guessing. Making you wonder if and when the wind begins to blow in the opposite direction will their mood change too?
After 15 years...15 lovely years...might I state, my Cody-man keeps me guessing. I dropped 2 blueberries in his bowl late last night. He didn't know they were there until morning. He ate one berry once his breakfast was poured into his bowl yet left the other blueberry. It's sat in his bowl all day long. I tried to get him to eat the other blueberry but he looked at me as if I must be insane. Okay, lets review, he's liked blueberries his whole life. He liked blueberries this morning and even ate one. But by the time he got to the second blueberry his mood must have shifted. He's now set on avoiding blueberries at all cost. He's a true mystery wrapped in a riddle.
He keeps me guessing! I'm not sure if he knows he's being difficult at times? I'm not sure if he enjoys being difficult? He's definitely trying to be difficult when it comes to his walks. But other things like his eating, I'm undecided. After all these years you'd think I'd have the answer. Well by now I'm convinced there is no answer when it comes to Cody. Welcome to the mystery that is my Cody-man. One day he's easy-breezy and one day he's "cranky pants Code". Wait, when was the last time he had an easy-breezy day? I can't remember! I think I missed it! In all seriousness, I've gotten used to Cody...clearly! So it's no biggie. But man he sure is an ever changing puggie dude. We love you Cody! You and your every changing personality, as well as your levels of crankiness!
