Flashback Friday
Flashback to a time when Brad was trying to show his dork side! Can you believe I was able to pick to just one of these types of photos? I mean, lets be real...he's often showing his dork side. LOL! I'm so funny! Or is he the funnier one? I guess if one is judging only by the pic, maybe it's him?
Wild Weather Week
It's been a wild weather week. Wednesday was the wildest. Today so far just rain and thunder, no threat of what occurred on Wednesday. Let me say, I'm so over tornado season. Goodbye and come back never! Tornado season concludes in June but I'm hoping this past Wednesday's round of tornado activity was it's big send off for the season. Fingers-crossed!
I was at the store on Wednesday when the tornado sirens went off. People were quickly abandoning their carts in the middle of aisles and rushing for the doorways. It was chaotic to say the least. Yes, I of course raced home, but I didn't abandon my cart. I hurried as fast as I could thru the self-checkout. Here's actually the most chaotic part in my opinion...kids! We live near a school, the school dismissed the kids for the day when the city tornado sirens sounded. So there were kids scrambling to get somewhere all over the place. I get it that schools are panicky about being responsible for all those lives if a tornado rips through but is it the best idea to have kids darting across streets and running like mad to get somewhere? I don't know? And don't even get me going on traffic. It was beyond crazy as many people left work as soon as the sirens went off. Probably trying to find their kids that were running like mad across traffic.
Once home I was quickly huddled up with two fur-babies under a mattress. One fur baby was good as gold, the other was much more disagreeable about the situation. I'll let you figure out which one was good and which one had a problem with things. ;)
Perhaps its his young age or maybe just his personality....I hope it's his personality. Anyway, so far Landon has been so impressive this bad weather season. Thunderstorms, hail, tornado threats, tornado sirens going off...go ahead test the little dude, he's got a great ability to just take it all in stride. As I told him on Wednesday when we were under a mattress together and he was in my arms..."little dude, it's like you already know you have to get used to this type of stuff." Yep, he's a Texan! #bornTexan #tornadoesdontscarehim #bornandbeingraisedwithTexasflair #dontmesswithalittleTexasdude
Side Story...Back in late September, the day Brad went to pick out Landon was a very bad weather day. It was pouring with the skies above booming with loud thunder. Clearly since day one our little dude was introduced to the craziness that is Texas weather. :)

Quick Snap Sunday
Completely awake and ready for a late night movie! LOL! He's snuggly and cozy. Notice the ear up situation. That's his thing, he flips his ears up regularly. He's a little weird! But completely loved!

A Hubs Story
Early in the week my husband came home as giddy and excited as one could be. He had the same excitement level a 10 year old boy has on Christmas morning. The discovery that had him so over the top excited was a sword. Someone left a sword behind and he discovered it. A sword complete with a cover and impressive handle.
I, however, did not share my husband's enthusiasm. I mean it's a sword...who cares? This isn't the set of Game of Thrones! What do we need with a sword? Where is this sword going to go in our house?
My husband instantly noticed my lack of enthusiasm as he showed off his new discovery. So in an effort to "convince" me this is a great find, he told me to try it out. Suddenly there I was with this sword in my hand as my husband coached me on how to handle it. He asked, "are you feeling the power yet?" Then excitedly announced, "babe, you're holding a sword, isn't it cool. Feel the coolness."
I'm still waiting days later to "feel the coolness". I asked him what we're going to do with this thing? He said it will come in handy if there's ever a "zombie apocalypse". To which I responded, "can't we just shoot zombies? We have more than enough guns in this house." I was quickly informed by Brad, "zombies might not be able to be shot, we might need this super cool sword to take out the zombies". Yes, this really was our conversation! Whether or not he was actually joking about a zombie apocalypse I don't know? His favorite things to watch center around aliens and zombies overtaking mankind. So who knows?
All I know is this dumb sword has been given a spot on our mantle over the fireplace. It does not go with the décor! This is not the Medieval times. This is not King Arthur's Court. This thing has got to go. I'm not sure when? I'm not sure how? However, I'm sure it will be going bye-bye. I will of course humor him for a little while and let him display it on our mantle but it's not staying! I would love to just get rid of it. Does the Goodwill take swords? Not something I ever thought I'd need to look into. I realize I might have to settle for assigning it a new spot like the attic. Fingers-crossed though the Goodwill needs a sword!

Hello Long Weekend
Yippee, a long holiday weekend has arrived. Extra long for us as we're counting Friday too. Brad's home today and still asleep as I type this. Landon is awake and Piper is asleep too. That's the full status of our household. I got home from walking Landon a little while ago. Yep, it's May, almost June and someone has turned the humidity dial up. Landon should do just fine adjusting to humidity and the warmer weather, after all, his ancestry is from Cuba. That's a very humid country so I've heard. Most island nations are.
Big plans for the 4 day vacay for us? Bum around town, meaning we have no big plans. However, we have a tradition to go to Red Robin during Memorial Day weekend. Of course, Brad has tennis this weekend too. We are into the final stretch for his tennis season. Speaking of tennis the French Open in Paris starts on Sunday, we'll be watching. Brad has a friend coming over on Sunday too, so the French Open is guaranteed to be on our TV. Oh and Indy too! Here's a side note fact...The French Open is the only Grand Slam in tennis that starts on a Sunday! The other 3 Grand Slams during the year start on Mondays. Yes, you are welcome for that useless piece of knowledge! ;) At some point we plan on going to see End Game in theatres. Brad has been eagerly anticipating seeing it at Imax.
My Friday might include a nap. I'm not much for napping but sometimes it's a must. On Thursday I worked extra hard getting certain things done so I could enjoy relaxing today with Brad. I even got up early to accomplish all my tasks yesterday. Then last night I ended up staying up later than usual because I was watching youtube videos. Here's the funny part, I went into our bedroom to go to bed then ended up watching youtube videos on my tablet until way late. Yep, nap time might happen for me today!

Tongue Out Tuesday
Have you ever heard of "tongue out Tuesday"? No? Me either. But apparently it's a thing. A thing on instagram. And you know I'm on the "gram". Anyway my mommy was going thru pics and found this rather embarrassing photo. On the bright side though I get to participate in "tongue out Tuesday" picture posting. Enjoy it because I don't think I'll be participating in this in the future. Maybe here and there but not regularly. I mean how often can one get caught in this pose?

Quick Snap Sunday
Oh come on, it's Sunday morning...let a cat sleep in....let a cat sleep in! I was not happy at this moment early this morning. However, I was happy and all was forgiven once mommy poured food in my bowl.

Busy, Good Weather, and Vet Time
I've been a little busy the last few days. I was super busy over the weekend. Mother's day went well. Good time was had by all. I'm glad I made as much food as I made because we needed. My husband wasn't thrilled the other night though when he saw how much dessert his brother took home. Brad was hoping more of the desserts would be leftover for him to eat. LOL!
In other news, weather has been great this week. I've been trying to enjoy it since I'm sure more rain is in the seven day forecast. I think rain is expected on Saturday. Just in time for the weekend!
Little Landon went to the vet earlier this week. I like our vet office very much but since becoming a havanese mommy it's a little different taking a havanese to the vet versus taking a pug to the vet. Pugs are a VERY POPULAR breed, the little idiosyncrasies of the breed are well known I feel. But the havanese breed is not nearly as popular, therefore it seems the vet office isn't as "in the know" as I would like them to be about Landon's breed. Brad thinks it doesn't matter but I'm a little unsure how much it bothers me? But what should I do about it? Sit down and work the phones finding a vet that has more experience with havaneses? I mean I might not be successful with that in a 5-10 mile radius. As I believe it's also important to have a vet office that is rather close. Anyway very undecided about things regarding our vet.
Anyway, Friday is in sight! Ready for the weekend! Are you?

Menu Planning
As usual I've been all over the place with the Mother's day get-together menu. Seriously this menu has really gone from almost all types as cuisines and back again. American, Italian, Mexican, and more specific Tex-Mex...name it...I've considered it. All except for Chinese, that's a no-go with Brad....ALWAYS! We even considered just ordering in the main dish, with me making appetizers and desserts. But I don't think we'll do that. I'm going to cook the main dish, make a minor appetizer and prepare at least 2 desserts.
For most of this week I've had the menu narrowed down in my mind. However, the moment I woke up this morning a new menu idea hit me. Will the new idea be the one I stick with? I have a few more hours to ponder it.
For me when menu planning I have one or two menus in mind then out of nowhere a new idea pops into my head. The new idea usually ends up being the one I get excited enough about to stick with.
In honor of Mother's day weekend here's a couple pics of the mom's in our world...
Simon was my mom's fave! This doubles as another flashback Friday pic. Maybe someday there will be a pic of Landon and my mom!

This is from last year's Mother's day gathering. I don't believe I ever featured this pic on the blog. Not sure?
Flashback Friday
This is called the cat blockade. Time for a flashback Friday photo. It's been awhile since I've featured a Flashback Friday post. Here's my Piper in her tunnel system. This pic is about a year and a half old. I'm not sure if she was blocking me or blocking Cody or perhaps everyone.
The tunnel system hasn't been out in awhile. It was put away at Christmas time and has yet to be brought back out. Maybe soon it will reappear in our living room? Piper loves it! Landon was a little scared of it back in December, however he's older and bigger now. They would likely have a great time chasing each other through the tunnels. Well kids, after Mother's day we'll bring the tunnel system back. We need the extra space right now for the Mother's day gathering.
Bonus flashback moment...Simon stuck in Piper's cube. Before the tunnel system came along it was just the cube which is what Piper is pictured in above. Below is the time Simon got stuck in her cube. He didn't much care, he laid down and focused on his treat he was eating. I love how he looks up at me. I also like how Piper is surveying the situation.

Quick Snap Sunday
Two of my most favorite guys! Safe to say Brad is just as into Landon as Landon is into Brad. Like I've stated before no dog has ever won Brad over as much as Landon has won him over. Crazy about each other!
Tonight in this moment, I think Landon is helping his dad deal with that tough Stars playoff loss earlier today. :) So close to closing out series. Game 7 is up next on Tuesday night!
Oh What A Night
What a night it was for me, or for us, I should say. My doctor prescribed another round of antibiotics for my toe injury. My toe is doing much better. Looks like a real toe again! Anyway, as the day progressed yesterday I was getting more and more itchy. By the time the evening approached I was super itchy and had splotches in a few places. Mainly on my back and shoulders. By the time midnight arrived the rash was popping up in other areas too. It was about 2 in the morning when I was in the kitchen gobbling the children's Benadryl Cody left behind. Let me add, those chewable children's Benadryl tabs are not tasty at all. They need to rethink that flavoring. No wonder it was so hard to get Cody to eat those. Jeesh!
When I woke up this morning it had spread to my arms. I was at an urgent care center early this morning. While sitting in the urgent care the hives had spread to my feet. I've never had the hives this bad. I've had the hives a few times but never like this. Never sat there just watching it move down my body.
I'm now on meds for the hives and have obviously discontinued the antibiotic. I've always thought if a person is allergic to a specific medicine then the allergic reaction would happen quicker but apparently that's not always the case. Sometimes the antibiotic builds up in your body over the course of numerous days and then causes a reaction. It's more common than I thought to have an allergic reaction 7-14 days after starting an antibiotic. Kind of weird!
Anyway, I'm already feeling a little better, especially since it's no longer spreading. I have 2 meds now to deal with this allergic reaction. One causes drowsiness so once again....I'll be sleeping good tonight. I need to sleep well since I was up so much last night as I was miserable with itchiness.

Randomness of the Week
Let's see, what all has been going on? This was a very rainy week for us here. We spent 2 nights in a row worrying about tornado activity. Tuesday night was the worst of it. I must say though the youngest in our household is quite the little trooper. He has dealt with Texas tornado season like a champ. He had a little nervousness at one point when we were going to bed on Tuesday night but I tucked him in his bed rather tightly and he was fine.
I'll add he's a good little sleeper. Always has been from the start too. He is the floppiest little sleeper though. He flops from his bed to the floor quite a bit. But never moves out of his little designated corner. He's a good boy!
Brad had a good tennis match win today. It was a tough win but one that he was super proud of. Now moving on to the evening hours...games! I feel like some trivia and a couple funny sitcoms.
Side Note: Did anyone watch the Kentucky Derby? Oh my, it was kind of irritating. I've seen the replays a lot and I still don't see what Maximum Security did that was so wrong? I saw the bump but didn't think it was outside of the norm considering the conditions. Anyway, get ready...this will be talked about for days to come. First time ever the outcome has been changed by the judges. Weird!
