Quick Snap Sunday!

Confetti Time

Well for our New Year's treat I thought confetti cupcakes seemed extremely appropriate! There's confetti on the inside of these cupcakes plus the little dab on top. Think homemade funfetti!  Oh how I loved funfetti as a kid...oh wait I still do love funfetti. But now I make it in a homemade fashion versus the Pillsbury mix. :)

Happy New Year's Eve! Bring on 2018!

Pug Name Gems

The other day I came across a magazine at the vet office featuring top dog names per breed. I of course instantly turned to the page with the top pug names. All I have to say to Cody and Simon(whom is somewhere in a heavenly peanut field right now), be glad I didn't give either of you one of these gems...I mean, non-gems!

Top 10 Names Given to Pugs:

Mugsy
Pleats
Gordo
Jingle
Smoosh
Melon
Bug
Piggie
Pickle
Wheezie

Wheezie? I get it but it's not a name! Gordo? Come on people. No way! I'm not standing at a dog park and yelling Gordo for 14 years. I'm not going to a groomer and dropping off a "Gordo" or a Smoosh, Melon, and nope definitely not a Pleats or Pickle. Terrible names!

On a side note, anyone needing a name for a boy dog anytime soon, well if you aren't into following the popular crowd then steer clear of Oliver and Tucker. Saw those listed multiple times on the sign-in sheet.

Many years ago back when Cody was a puppy, I sat in the vet office with him and there were 3 dogs named Sebastian waiting too. I was clearly glad I'd never been interested in the name Sebastian. Still not! Sorry folks but to me Sebastian will always be a red crab! I can thank Disney for that!

 MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!
We got started with opening our Christmas gifts kind of this morning because we have a late night movie tradition on Christmas Eve. After arriving home from my in-laws last night we stayed up to watch a Christmas movie together. It's been our thing to do late night on Christmas Eve since the year we married. I suppose it's our way of welcoming in Christmas day by staying up late to watch a movie. Last night the Christmas movie we chose to watch was Arthur Christmas. An animated movie that has a "spy" feel to it...lol! The elves in the movie are very stealth-like and act as little spies for Santa! You know me...any thing remotely spy related and I'm there!:)

A happy cat-dad and a somewhat reluctant cat-daughter. She's thinking, "Another picture? Already?"

Piper opens a gift then tests to see if it's edible...hmm, who does that remind me of?

What to do next? Get more out of his stocking or open a gift?

Cody getting smooched! Happens often!

Tired but has one more gift to go.

Catnapping with her new toys, exhausted from opening so many gifts. ;)

Hope everyone that reads this is having an awesome Christmas!!

A Hubs Story (part 2)

Way back a longtime ago, seriously ages ago, as in more than a year ago I stated from time to time I would do a special post featuring a somewhat cute story about my sweet husband. My affectionate title for these special posts started out as "A Hubs Story"...clear back in October of 2016 the first hubbie story appeared on the blog and can be found here, A Hub's Story: Part 1. So way overdue is the second installment...Note to my mom-in-law, this is a story to read to grandma Ruth!

On to the story...
The subject of puzzles came up while Brad and I were talking the other night. Puzzles as in jigsaw puzzles, not crossword puzzles. Brad mentioned he didn't believe he'd ever put a puzzle together. I said he must have when he was a kid. He argued stating, "I was playing football not doing puzzles". Well I believe that, I've seen all the pics. Plus a large box of trophies sits in our home, trophies from football and tennis.

After our brief conversation about whether or not he'd ever put a puzzle together he soon went into our spare bedroom to grab a puzzle out of the stack of puzzles grandma Ruth has given us. He was quickly determined to put his first ever puzzle together. With a puzzle in hand he returned to our dining room to clear off the table to do his puzzle. His "masterpiece" as he had termed it. He began work on the puzzle while I sat in the next room typing on the computer. After what I would estimate was about 20 minutes I went to check on his progress, he had 4 pieces together. Four pieces as in 2 duos pieced together. Make sense?  A few minutes later he proudly announced he had 2 more pieces together in another duo. It wasn't more than five minutes after successfully linking his third set of duos when I heard him say, "honey, you want to finish it? I'm done!"

Clearly puzzles are not his thing! LOL! He has not and will not catch puzzle fever. At least he tried something new, right? It's still cute that he even wanted to try after it occurred to him, he's never put a puzzle together. But come on honey, couldn't you have accomplished more than 6 pieces in duos? ;)

Quick Snap Sunday

Santa Piper

I am so thankful my fur-babies put up with me dressing them up. Although they don't get much of a choice in the matter. I understand I'm extremely biased but this little sweetie is so darn cute dressed in big brother Simon's Santa suit. It was actually quite big on her but in this quick snap it doesn't look too bad. I love how the tip of her ear is just barely peaking out from under the Santa hat. Look at those little feet of hers, cute little ballet slippers on her front feet.

Cody's "Ruff" Day

It was a "ruff" day for Cody yesterday. I feared the worst, I was completely exhausted by the time the early part of the evening rolled around. My exhaustion was mostly from worry. When you are the pet-parent of a 16-year-old pretty much anything causes you concern. From what I could see it was only his eye that was of big concern. Yet he was so listless which doubled maybe tripled my concern.

As soon as I woke Cody up for the day I noticed he wasn't quite right. He was holding his "good" eye shut. As most that read this blog understand Cody has been blind for quite sometime in his right eye but the left eye has been seeing a little. Hence the left eye is classified his "good" eye. Anyway, first thing I noticed yesterday morning was the look of  his "good" eye, which didn't look pleasant at all. When I took him outside for his walk he refused to walk. Once I brought him back inside he was listless and shivering like crazy. Zero energy, no pep, and he bobbed his head around with his eyes completely shut. It was kind of freaky. Clearly a vet trip was in order.

Long story short, he saw the vet, he has an eye infection but otherwise is in good shape considering his advanced age. Prior to getting the eye infection I've noticed his eyesight in his "good" eye has been failing even more. I've recently had to start carrying him or leading him around the house. So classifying the left eye as his "good" eye is likely not very accurate anymore.

It's sad seeing my puggie fail in different ways. Wish there was more I could do for him. Wish I could somehow reverse things. Turn back the clock! Go back to when he was 7 or 8 or hey, even younger! Likely a common wish for many out there within their own lives!

I'm happy to report Cody has acted rather "normal" today. Not at 100% but maybe at about 75-80%. He's had is "good" eye open some today. He's eating, drinking, sleeping, and being cranky at his typical moments. Sorry Cody, but you know it's true...you are a little "cranky-pants". Storm was the first to receive the nickname of "Miss Cranky-Pants" and now Cody is our little "Mister Cranky-Pants" both nicknames were affectionately bestowed on them courtesy of their human-daddy. LOL!

Storm and Cody have a lot of similarities to their personalities. Whereas Simon and Piper are clones of each other. Isn't that odd how that has worked out? Especially considering Storm and Cody did not grow up together. Yet are carbon copies in many ways! Similarities of Piper to Simon abound as time goes by. Just the other day Piper did something that made both Brad and I stop in our tracks, look at one another exclaiming at the same time, "did you see that? She is so much like Simon!" She's a copycat...no pun intended! LOL!

Below is a pic of Cody still asleep in the sleeping quarters when I went to get him up for the day.

Cody's Birthday!

Cody is a December boy, the 12th month of the year is when he decided to grace this world with his presence. Well it just so happens that this birthday post containing some pics is the twelve hundredth post on this little blog...the big number 1200. Now didn't that work out well?

Would have been even cooler if he had just turned 12 too. But no way, 12 is for babies in Cody's opinion! Cody is the ripe old age of 16. His 12th birthday is choking on his dust. It's not much dust since Cody doesn't run and typically walks at a snails pace, but it's dust nonetheless.

Without further delay here are the pics of my big puggie man celebrating his Sweet 16! As you can see in the first pic, Cody is never too old to escape me decorating him with bows on his head. LOL! As for the last pic he seems to approve of his new orthopedic bed! :)

It's Official...Sweet 16

The rumors are true...Cody has achieved 16 years on this earth! Happy Birthday Sweet 16 Cody-man!

His birthday greeted him with a slap of brutally cold wind hitting his whiskers as he walked outside this morning. His birthday wish for 80 degrees and loads of sunshine did not come true. Maybe next year! Our whopping high temp of the day reached 37°, so definitely not Cody weather. But never fear he's happy, he has stayed snuggled up inside near the space heater, his favorite spot in the house during the winter months. Next up he will enjoy dinner then have cake later. His gift is a new bed. A square shaped orthopedic bed to rest his rather old bones on. Does he really need a bed? No, not exactly but getting him a toy is a waste at this stage. The new bed is at least an orthopedic one, which is new for him.

Whew, got him to 16! Now let's get him thru Christmas and all the way to 17! Next stop #17!

Quick Snap Sunday

Snuggle Bug

It's the little snuggle bug of the household. She's had a busy day. She tried to ride her brother, which didn't go well. She ended up knocking him over. Which she promptly got in trouble for. Then it was time to chase a lady bug that got in the house. She was a jumping bean trying to get to the lady bug. Next up she began to demand attention from her daddy as he worked on his computer and watched football. With a computer on his lap and football on in the background, Piper was unsuccessful at getting daddy's attention. She also found some time to attempt to climb the Christmas tree. Now she sits next to her daddy as he watches the Sunday evening football game. Finally a relaxing moment for her and the snuggle time she was wanting earlier today!

Pitch Fork Daily Doesn't Disappoint

I just did a dance and screamed and hollered with extreme excitement at the news. I have an app on my phone connected to ASU news. On the Pitch Fork Daily app what was just reported?....Herm Edwards will be named the next coach of ASU. I'm ecstatic! I've been a big Herm Edwards fan since he was a coach in the NFL. ASU needed a BIG name and they got one! They got a guy with NFL coaching experience too! Great job ASU!

By the way, as I danced, screamed, and hollered with extreme excitement as I shouted the breaking news I had just read on the Pitch Fork Daily my husband declared me officially nuts! I'm okay with that! LOL! :) Move over USC, Stanford, and Washington make room for Sparky and the Sun Devils in the upper elite status of the PAC 12.

Cyber Monday

I've only looked briefly but so far I'm wondering where the so-called "cyber Monday" deals are? The few items I've looked at do not seem to be on any extra deal. But if you have found great deals then congrats.

Cody has spent most of the late afternoon obsessing over the preparation of his birthday and Christmas lists. Piper is working on only a Christmas list, her birthday has come and gone for the year. Cody also reminded me...no wait I reminded him...the countdown has officially begun, 10 days until his Sweet 16! He will make it! He will make it far beyond his milestone birthday, because he's going for the record! Not sure what the record is for a pug but he's capturing that record nonetheless. Oldest I've heard of for a pug is 15.

Our Thanksgiving was a bit odd this year. Brad was sick and we ended up staying home from the family gathering. Certainly not the Thanksgiving we had geared up for. I had a strong inkling first thing Wednesday morning that Thanksgiving was in jeopardy for us. When Thursday officially arrived it was clear right away Brad did not want to be around everyone being that sick. Therefore, I briefly went to the gathering to drop off the dishes I had promised to take, then returned home to be with Brad. I regret that I didn't circulate around to say hello to all the family, but I was rather distracted with my thoughts of getting back home to my husband. I certainly hope my lack of socializing with all didn't come off as rude in any way, because I was simply preoccupied with thoughts concerning Brad. By the time Saturday rolled around for us, we both looked at each other and said, "did we have Thanksgiving yet?" It just lacked that traditional feel around here.

However, no looking back, on to the Christmas season...time to put up the tree, as soon as we decide where it's going that is. I'm not sure how Brad will manage setting up the tree without his mini foreman of the job? Simon provided a load of expertise on the subject of constructing a Christmas tree each year. Hence the flashback pic below. Simmie we miss you and your stocking will be hung because mommie can't bare to not hang it little man! We hung Storm's the first Christmas after she passed too!

Quick Snap Sunday

I'm officially ready! Bring on Christmas, wrapping paper with pugs on it has been purchased! LOL!

As I walked thru a nearby store I spotted this wrapping paper with a pug prominently displayed among other cartoonish looking dogs. First impulse buy of the season....LOL! I can't be trusted around cartoonish looking pug figures. No willpower when it comes to puggies! Notice the pug even has his tongue out. I was completely powerless when it came to grabbing this up, well at least it was on sale!!!

Quick Snap Sunday

The Snuggle Is Real

Snug as little bugs in a rug. Cody in front a space heater all tucked in. Piper under the red throw on the couch. I wonder who went around tucking them in? Nope, not spoiled at all. These pics were taken in the morning...doesn't matter the time of day. They get snuggled under blankets any time.

Yes, that's a heating pad on Cody. He has taken over the household heating pad. I put it over him at some point during each day. He loves it! He loves being warm and cozy. Plus I'm sure at this stage of his life it feels good on his joints. #myoldpuggieman

As for Piper, she has recently discovered the extreme comfort of the throw pillows on our couch. The red throw caps off her already snuggled in state of mind. Sometimes she disappears completely under the red throw...that's how much she loves to snuggle in.

Taking Over

Me: Um, excuse me, little cat-daughter can I have my sweatshirt back?

Piper: But I'm the cat! Everything in this house is mine!

For those that have pets, especially those that have CATS...you know what I'm talking about. Cats especially like to try to take over. When they get caught taking over something, they give that innocent and exceptionally cute look at you that says, "Oh, I could've swore that was mine not yours".  At least with dogs they are stuck on the ground and are not as persistent as a cat. Cats really do seem to believe they own the world! LOL

Quick Snap Sunday(on Monday)

Feed Me!

After putting some things away in our bedroom, I returned to the living room area only to see no one was around. I walked towards the kitchen and rounded the corner to see this little scene. Brad down on the floor feeding Cody his nightly treat. Cody eats his food just fine but when it comes time for treats he seems to have a problem finding and grabbing the treat out of his bowl. Due to the late hour of night when his treat is given to him, he has a hard time seeing much of anything. He sniffs for things but tends to keep missing stuff. Therefore, Brad has realized it works better if someone gets down to Cody's level to feed him his treat.

It's actually kind of cute to watch. Cody is super gentle as he takes each little nibble of his treat offered to him. Let me just reiterate, this is only a treat time thing. Cody eats out of his bowl like a normal dog, like he has his whole life at mealtimes. Only super crazies feed their dog one kibble at a time, that's not what is happening here. Just a nice daddy making sure his little pug-son gets all of his treat. :)

I'm not really sure why I didn't get around to doing the Quick Snap Sunday post yesterday? I was busy but yet it was slightly boring around here too. I was doing a couple baking experiments to work out the kinks before the holiday season is in full swing and I, of course, watched football too. It was just me and the pets as Brad went to watch the Cowboys game with his dad. I wasn't invited to go...Brad wanted it to be father-son time. I don't think his mom got that memo though....LOL! I politely stayed home and like I said busied myself with baking, laundry, and football watching. Yet, I must say I missed Brad all afternoon! It was weird not watching Sunday football with him. I'm spoiled! Wish it was a more interesting game for Monday night football for us to watch together, maybe Miami can hang with Carolina though...we'll see!

Cody Goes To The Vet

Last week I spent a reasonable, okay an unreasonable amount of time obsessing over pet hospital reviews. Nothing but the BEST for my fur-babies. I was trying to holdout on choosing a new vet until our upcoming move to the opposite side of Fort Worth but the move keeps getting pushed back and the holdout needed to end. Driving to downtown Dallas to the old vet office is just too darn far now. My top choice was a Banfield since it would be easy to switch again once we move in January, I figure all their computer systems are connected and record sharing would be a breeze. But oh my, oh my....hmm, no way...my babies will not be seen at a Banfield. Reviews were the worst I came across in my research. I've always preferred privately owned pet hospitals versus corporate owned, simply a preference. I took the boys to Banfield during their puppy year and then I was done, I guess I'll continue to stay away. There are decent Banfield's out there, I'm sure. I'm not trying to dis them, but the large corporate feel is not what I prefer. As I said before....it's a preference thing! After finally choosing a new vet it was lucky little Cody that received the distinguished honor of being seen first.

When I was heading out the door with Cody in my arms late in the afternoon, Brad asked if I had "the cage" in the pathfinder for Cody already? I was puzzled for a brief moment, as Cody is way too evolved for a cage. LOL! Plus it's not a "cage", it's a carrier. What a silly husband I have, calling it a cage and thinking Cody needs to be in one. LOL! We used the carrier with both boys together in it. But typically when it was/is only one boy by himself I just sit them upfront with me. Cody sits on the floorboard on the passenger side. He rides shotgun!

I'm happy to report the appointment went well from most standpoints. As well as it could go when one has an elderly pug. The vet and I discussed options concerning his eyesight. She did some eye staining to figure out which parts of his eye are still working. He's been blind in the right eye for many months now. His left eye has been a bit of a mystery though. The vet determined Cody is unable to see out of his left eye except for a slight detection of light and dark. His cornea which controls the recognition of lightness/darkness is still working a little. So sadly he is basically completely blind. Of course that wasn't great to hear, yet I'm somewhat glad to know a little more. Other than his loss of eyesight and some arthritis he's doing quite well.

Message to Cody...your new doc says you're in good shape for your advanced age, big man! You'll be celebrating your Sweet 16 in 4 weeks. So get your party hat on order from Amazon!!!

Quick Snap Sunday

Sunday Catnap! (no pun intended)

Catnapping at it's best! Honestly in her opinion there's no better place than catching an afternoon snooze session in the windowsill. I love the crossed paws as she rests her head. She's so sweet! We got lucky with her, she's a sweet little girl.

I think we are all a little extra tired today. Changing time always seems to do that to us. Usually takes me a few days to get adjusted. We all went to bed in good timing last night, even the major night owl of the family. It was nice though getting in the car early this morning, noticing the time on the clock then quickly realizing it's not that late in the morning, move that clock back an hour.

Ugly....

What in the world!!! Cody is extremely distraught over this little find. There I was walking thru the store when my eyes spotted this! I mean, come on! If this isn't disrespect towards pugs than I don't what is?

The title of this Texas beer brings back a bad memory for Cody. It was 2002, he was a tiny pup, it was the "B.S." days....Before Simon! LOL! I had taken Cody over to see my mom for the very first time. She came out to greet us at the car. I pulled baby Cody out of a box that I used for the first month or so to keep him in when traveling in the car. As soon as she laid eyes on him she immediately said this, "He's so ugly, he's kind of cute."

Oh my poor mom, I'll never let her forget that little story of her first meeting with baby Cody. And I'm sure she's so pleased that the story will now forever live on the blog!!!! LOL!

Well I should end this because I think Cody is wanting me to help him write a scathing letter to the beer company! #helpapugout #pugprotest

World Series and Weekend Ready

It's Thursday...raise your hand if you're ready for the weekend? My hand is raised. I'm still wondering though if this is a "tennis weekend" for us or not. Brad was fully back to his tennis team last weekend, competing in his first match of the season. Unsure if he's been picked to play this weekend or not?

What a World Series, right? Man, it was great. It took up quite a few of our evenings but that was fine with us. Halloween night was a bit tricky though...get it?...tricky?...Halloween tricks? You're welcome, I'm here all week folks! Lame jokes for days! Anyway, we have a tradition to watch a Halloween-ish movie on Halloween night. We order in pizza and watch a movie that matches with the holiday. Since the game was on we had to balance the two. Although thanks to the game being out in L.A. that wasn't hard. The games go pretty late for us when it's being televised from the west coast. Plenty of the game remained by the time the movie was done. Our fur-babies participated with the night's festivities by staying in their costumes and being ready to greet trick-o-treaters. So happy Houston won!!!! Of course we were for Houston....anything TX!!!! This is an EXTREMELY pro Texas household! As if I had to bother stating that! When it was official and Houston got that last out to take the Series, yours truly may have jumped up and down on the couch. :)

Weekend plans? Maybe dinner and a movie at the actual movie theatre...A new Marvel movie comes out at midnight! We have time change this weekend, so we get an extra hour. Can't dislike that!

Side note to all my peeps....Tomorrow, as in Friday the 3rd, is National Sandwich day!!!! Subway participates by doing buy one get one free.  So grab a peep and head to Subway tomorrow!

Happy Halloween!

An alligator and a bumble bee, quite the duo! Without a doubt the cutest alligator and bumble bee I've ever seen...and yes, I'm extremely biased! I'm not sure the little stinger shows up well in pics but the stinger on the end of Piper's costume is hilarious to me. As are the big ol' eyes and gator mouth on Cody's costume. Puggator...that's a thing right?

Unfortunately the days of getting Cody to look in my direction for a picture are over. He's about 70%-75% blind now, plus he has super selective hearing. Gone are the ever so cute days of when I could get a head tilt and direct eye contact. But that's okay I'm just happy to still have this sweet big man!

Happy Halloween to all!

Quick Snap Sunday

A few posts ago I posted a pic of Cody in Piper's kitty tent. In the last couple weeks it's been less common to see Piper in the kitty tent and more common to see Cody try to get into the kitty tent even though it's been well established he's too BIG for it. He has the persistence of a cat I suppose because he continues to attempt to squeeze his squarely shaped wide pug body into the narrow triangular kitty tent. But wonders do occur around here and on this somewhat chilly morning Piper was actually able to get into her kitty tent without her brother disturbing her...for a few minutes at least! :)

Even though she was trying to take a cat nap in her tent she was wary her big brother may interrupt her plans at any time. As I grabbed the camera she was suddenly awake and looking at me. When this pic was snapped her face seems to be posing the question, "He's coming isn't he?" Yes, little girl your big brother appears to be set on spoiling your cat napping plans.

Scaredy Cat

Cats are scary. No joke, they love to scare humans. I would say Piper was simply getting into the Halloween spirit by constructing her latest scare tactic but she's commonly known for scare tactics.

Our little Piper has a new spot to sit in this house...the back of the couch. Not just any spot on the back of the couch, nope, she has claimed the far right section because when she stands she can see into the kitchen. Oh that Simon taught her well! Seek out the spot that gives a birds eye view of the kitchen. He would be so proud!

Moving on, it was Thursday night, Brad was at tennis practice and I was home alone with the fur-babies. There I am sitting on the couch, rather late in the evening, Thursday night football had wrapped up minutes before and the TV was off. I was deep in thought constructing a word on Words With Friends on my Note. A moment later I suddenly felt something like a human finger or hand touching my neck. I'm not going to lie, I quickly screamed and turned around, it was nothing alarming though, only my cat-daughter sitting at the top of the couch with an extended paw and sneaky look on her face that read..."got ya". I had completely forgotten she was curled up and asleep on the back of the couch directly above where I was sitting. When she woke up I guess she couldn't resist giving her mommie a good scare.

Yes, Piper you got me good. I felt rather embarrassed after realizing it was only Piper, certainly no need to scream. What can I say?  Living with a cat-daughter is scary! LOL!

Quick Snap Sunday

Oh my word, have you ever seen a cat lay like this? I couldn't believe my eyes when I rounded the corner early this morning to spot this scene. I swear she's a dog...more specifically, a pug. She's a lot like someone she used to idolize!!!! She's so lady-like, one can't tell at all she was raised around two male pugs, right? This is a first...I've never seen her lay like this any other time. Both fur-babies are clearly super stressed out in this quick snap! LOL!

This was taken in the morning when the direct sunlight hits the pet zone for a couple of hours if I open our blinds nice and wide. Which I always do! I believe it's one of their favorite times of the day. When that sunlight is beaming into our home both furries can be found soaking up the rays. #pettanning

The Kitty Tent

Well I thought I chose correctly but perhaps I messed up. As most regular readers of this blog know, Piper recently celebrated her birthday. I chose her toy this year, which is a kitty tent. Yes, she has a tunnel system and now a kitty tent. Which pet occupies more space in our living room? Go ahead, take a wild guess. Actually we are lucky in this place because her stuff is not in the living room. There's a nice amount of room between the dining and the living rooms which is the "pet zone". The pet zone has Cody's large pillow bed, Piper's tunnel, and now her kitty tent. Both are spoiled!

Anyway I thought the kitty tent was perfectly sized for only her. No pugs allowed! I thought about helping her write a sign to post on her kitty tent that read "no pugs permitted", but then I thought better of it. I assumed Cody was mature and dignified enough to not go near a kitty tent. He's not much for the outdoors so why would he go in a tent? That was my reasoning...wink-wink! Well low and behold, never assume anything, because we catch Cody in the tent more than Piper. However, here's the unique part, Cody is too big! He can only manage to get his big ol' puggie head inside the tent, the rest of him sticks out. LOL! I guess the tent is where Cody now goes to be alone with his thoughts, he's working on brainstorming a best-selling novel. :) LOL!

Heavy Week

It's been awhile since I've posted on the blog. My mind has been a little distracted. I had a post prepared for this past Sunday but never got around to it, as I stated, I've been distracted.

I love Texas. Love living here in Texas. I don't regret leaving AZ(sorry mom, pretend you didn't read that part). But there are times, there are moments when my family back in Phoenix is dealing with things and I feel awful that I can't be there. Sitting by the phone waiting for news from Phoenix isn't easy. I continue to struggle through this week after sympathizing from long distance about the tragic event that took place in one of my cousin's families. I'm still speechless! And words can not express how terribly sorry I am for their pain. May their little guy rest in peace, little Jude Poppy.

I'm not sure how to transition after that paragraph. Thursday night football at least means Friday is in sight. I wasn't too intrigued about tonight's match-up but after the seriously heavy last few days this might be nice to watch. Another plus for my evening is that Brad stayed home from tennis practice. #colorrushthursdaynightfootball

Kind Of Busy

This is kind of a busy weekend for us. We went to a birthday party last night. It was great fun! I'm not a club goer at all. Never have been. The party was at a club but it was a nicer style club not your average club scene. We had a great time! Brad got to see some people from his past too. The band that was playing featured a guitarist Brad went to school with. Not our typical scene, but it's fun to get a little outside our usual comfort zone to celebrate with some family and friends.

As for today the plan is to check out the new property Brad is being transferred to. We did drive out there last weekend and were not too impressed. It's pretty far out there, we went at night, this time around we want to see it during the day. We want to get a better feel for it all. However, we are considering the possibilities of living at a sister property instead of the property Brad will be working at. Why? Because then we can live close to where Brad is working but not too close. The goal of being in the vicinity of his work yet living in a more "happening" area, if you know what I mean.

No Cowboys game tomorrow. But it's still football day in our household. The Houston game will get the hype this week in our area. They haven't been too good, so I'm not sure what they can hype up? As for the evening game...umm, are the Giants still taking the field this season? I'm sorry, but put a fork in them, they are done! Time to start planning their draft picks. Broncos shouldn't have a problem with them. Especially considering I heard the Giants mascot was suiting up at wide receiver! Just kidding!

Red River Rivalry Day

Listen up Piper it's Red River Rivalry Day. Oklahoma will face off against Texas later this afternoon(2:30 Texas time on ESPN). The face-off is on neutral ground at the Cotton Bowl stadium in Dallas, where the State Fair is currently going on. Now since your brother is not here to sport his cute little Longhorns gear you are the next man up....wait you are the next one up. Is that better? Gender neutral! Lucky little you will sport Simmie's Longhorns shirt while your other big brother sports his Oklahoma shirt. Red vs Orange! It's not going to fit you but you've been assigned this task of representing TX. It's a big job, but you can handle it! I mean, just earlier in the week you accomplished reading your own birthday cards! LOL!

In all seriousness....Go Longhorns! Oops, I'm supposed to cheer for Oklahoma with Cody while Brad and Piper root on Texas. I almost forgot the plan. ;) Actually it's a great game not as bitter of a rivalry as the Duel in the Desert. Hoping to see a good competitive game!

Happy 4th!

Happy Birthday Piper!

Time to celebrate little girl. You were quite the surprise four years ago. No clue we were getting another cat. But into our lives you arrived! You quickly blended in to our little family, you were exactly what we didn't know was missing. It was a tough year this past year for you, as you watched the trio sadly downsize to a duo. But you certainly enjoy being Cody's little sister. You especially enjoy it when he leaves a few kibbles of food behind for you to scoop up. LOL!

Below is Piper's year in review!
