Mavs Season is Over!

I can't believe the Mavs lost! I was very hopeful they would have a long playoff run. It was super frustrating watching as it appeared that there was a lid on the Mavs basket for much of the game. Even more irritating was the officiating!

I just barely purchased a new Mavs shirt for game nights. Oh well, I'll still wear it in the off-season. Now my full support shifts to the Suns. They must take out the Spurs! The Spurs are going from one hated rivalry to another! Does that tell you anything about the Spurs? It should!

Doggie Daycamp Report Card!

At the boys daycamp they periodically give out "report cards". It's still funny to me when I'm handed their joint report card. I also find myself being a tiny bit nervous to open it up and look at their marks.

I'm happy to report the boys have been good little pugs this past month in daycamp. No incidents! No tag-teaming any dachshund's!...which has been a past complaint! In the comments section of the report card they both got high praise for being eager to make new friends.

My Cousin Visits Dallas!

I was completely surprised when I picked up the phone Monday night and was told by my cousin Glenn that he would be in Dallas in about 15 hours. As I hung up the phone I jumped for joy around my bedroom! I was excited to finally have one of my cousins visit me. I knew the visit wasn't going to be for long since he was driving through Texas on his way back to AZ but at least he thought to stop here in Dallas for a night.

Despite his visit being short we were able to visit the new Cowboys stadium and the old pile of rubble Texas stadium on Wednesday morning. The new stadium is ridiculous now! It's a big money-making tour scene during this off-season. The Landry statue has been moved from Texas stadium to Cowboys stadium so that is one new attraction that we got to see.

To Glenn...thanks for visiting me! Hope to see you in Dallas again this summer!

Playoffs and the Draft

Well since moving to Dallas I've suddenly noticed my closet has a lot more of the color blue in it. Cowboys blue! And Mavs blue! Back in Phx the color that I had the most of was red(different shades of red). All AZ sports teams(including ASU) have a shade of red except for the Suns.

Tough sports weekend...the Suns lost on Saturday and the Mavs lost last night. After having a couple bad calls go against them the Suns lost their composure. When watching the Mavs game it was kind of like deja vu for me from the Suns game the day earlier. Geesh!!! The refs control way too much in basketball!! I think the Suns can rebound tonight. Go Suns! The Mavs on the other hand appear to be in a deeper hole! This could be the last week of the Mavs season I'm afraid. But I've seen teams win 3 in a row and come back. The Suns have done it!

One thing that is the exact same here in Dallas as it was in Phx.....the dislike for the Spurs! They are the Mavs hated rivals!

Well despite the NBA losses I was at least happy to see the Cards drafted a QB and then signed a QB today. Looks like they are gearing up for a little QB competition heading into next season. The Cowboys got a huge need fulfilled by drafting a wide receiver. Cowboys fans seem pleased!

Random Thoughts pt.5

The Suns won game 2! Shazam! I couldn't believe they lost game 1! I just now looked at the score from last night. I was unable to get the game due to it being televised on NBATV. Grr! The Mavs go for win number 2 in their series tonight. Go Mavs!

I took Cody to the vet today for his 2nd round of shots. It's a little strange how they do different rounds of shots here but I'm getting used to it. This was Cody's first time of being taken to the back of the vet clinic without me by his side. For the 2nd round of shots an appointment isn't needed which means no exam is needed. You simply stop by and they take your dog to the back to get the shot done. Cody was sure glad when the vet assistant brought him back up to the waiting room where we were reunited. He was quite the show-off as he squirmed and grunted until he got into my arms!

The apartment search....I looked at a few properties online today. It was a rather brief few moments spent but at least I got a little bit of an idea as to what is out there. Like many other dog owners, I instantly scope out where the boys would go before getting to into the floorplan. One time I even rented an apartment sight unseen because the floorplan featured a huge laundry room. Perfect for the boys! Despite the fact that they are both 8 years old, they've never had the run of the place. When I'm not home and when it's time for bed they are sectioned off from the main living areas. Which is exactly why the floorplan is very important when searching for a new apartment!

The Pugs and a Cat

From time to time I take the pugs over to my boyfriend's place so they can get to know his cat. This was the third time the boys have been around Storm. She is getting more used to them but she's not quite ready to be best buds with either pug yet.

The main reason I wanted to make this post was to tell this story. Here's the difference in the boys....Storm was sitting on about the fifth step from the top of the stairs. The boys were both at the top of the stairs with me. She was hissing and growling at them from time to time. Well when I went downstairs Simon followed. He was not feeling intimidated at all by the hissing cat. Walked right past her without a concern! Storm was slightly surprised of his brassy move to walk past her in such an nonchalant manner.

Cody, however, didn't follow! Cody remained at the top of the stairs. I called for Cody to come down the stairs...he refused. Storm stayed firmly planted on the step. Cody let out a few pitiful whines. Maybe I should have babied him but I was curious how he would handle the situation so I let him remain at the top of the steps. Avoiding my urge to go to his rescue. Soon enough Storm got tired of guarding the steps and left. After realizing she had left her post for good. Cody came running down the stairs likely breathing a sigh of relief!

Simon is completely without caution, downright reckless. Has no fear! Cody is cautious in all ways. The funny part is Cody can't handle being a part from me, he's my shadow. So it must have been killing him that he was stuck upstairs while Simon and I were downstairs. I'm sure that's why he started whining about his predicament. It's funny to watch the 3 of them getting to know each other!

Fort Worth Zoo!

I've wanted to go to the zoo for quite awhile now. This past Saturday I finally got to the zoo. My first zoo outside of the state of Arizona! Can you believe I never went to the zoo in either of the two other cities I've lived in? I also never went to the zoo during numerous family trips to CA.
For this zoo experience, I went with my boyfriend and his parents. We had lots of fun! We met up at Mimi's Cafe for breakfast/lunch before heading off to the zoo. After ordering big meals we were ready to do some walking off.
The selection of animals was quite remarkable. Too many to name in one post. But I've never seen penguins, sharks, owls, cows, rhinos, white tigers, or kangaroos at the Phx zoo. I would say I enjoyed seeing the penguins, white tigers, Texas longhorn and kangaroos the most. However, there were some hysterical monkeys that we watched for quite awhile.

Most unique section of the zoo was Texas Town. It was a complete break from the zoo in many ways. It was as if you had entered an old west town when walking through the entrance of Texas Town. It had a museum-like building in the center that featured interesting facts about Texas. I was truly soaking up as much info as I could while I was in there. Here's what I learned:
state tree: pecan tree
state fruit: red grapefruit
state dish: chili
state bird: mockingbird
state flower: blue bonnet
state mammal(small): armadillo
state mammal(large): Texas Longhorn

I already knew blue bonnets were the state flower. I learned that during my first few weeks here. I knew of the popularity of the armadillos, longhorns, and of course chili but was unaware that they are all official state symbols. Definitely the most educational trip to the zoo I've ever had. Although this time I was more interested in learning compared to previous zoo visits!

The most surprising things in the zoo were the restaurants and children play areas. In Fort Worth one can go to the zoo to enjoy a pizza from Pizza Hut, climb a rock wall, and play in sand if one so chooses to! Lol!
Of course this post has to feature plenty of pics! The very last pic is from Texas Town!

Farewell Texas Stadium!

This morning Texas Stadium, the former home of the Dallas Cowboys was imploded. The implosion was televised. There were tailgating parties out at the stadium site too.

I knew the stadium was set for demolition. However when I first heard the sounds of the explosion I instantly mistook it to be thunder. After a few more thunderous sounds I clued in to the fact that it was the day Texas stadium was coming down.

The demolition cost 6 million and took 6 months for crews to prepare the stadium for. I went by this morning after church to snap some pics. I certainly was not alone as numerous people were out looking at what is left of the infamous stadium. I did notice the 2 marquees on each side of the stadium are still standing.

Despite being a native Zonie, I must admit I was even a little sad to see the stadium go. It will be bizarre to go by and see an empty lot for awhile. However, it won't be empty for long. The site will be cleared to make way for a new shopping center. I'm curious to see what kind of shopping center especially since the nearest mall in that area is a little older and not as appealing as I've been told it once was. The pic above was taken on Saturday and the pics below are what is currently left of Texas Stadium.

Sidenote: I actually got a tiny bit annoyed at a radio dj the other day when he was confused by the old stadium's name and the new stadium's name. It's not that difficult to remember even a former Zonie like me has it down. Texas Stadium WAS the home of the Cowboys and Cowboys Stadium is the CURRENT home of the Cowboys. See!...it's simple!

Got Milk?

I will share this story in hopes that some may get a slight chuckle out of it. I ran out of milk last night which is rather important when one wants to enjoy some cereal for breakfast. After taking the boys to daycamp early this morning I stopped by a store that is literally around the corner from the boys daycamp. I went in and got milk along with a few yogurts. When I came out of the store I decided, no clue why, to put the milk along with the small bag of yogurts in the cargo area of my SUV on top of the boys cushioned bed. That decision was mistake number one! In my SUV the cargo area is better known as the pugs domain! I arrived at home, opened the cargo door, flying out at me was a gallon of milk. It landed on the ground in front of my feet as I managed to dodge the thing. I picked up the milk, of course, and put it back on top of the boys bed while I gathered my yogurts that had escaped the bag they were in. That decision to put the milk on the boys bed was mistake number two! I grabbed everything then I looked down to notice the milk was leaking all over the boys bed. At the time of the collision between the milk and the ground I didn't think to check if the milk was leaking. Before long the milk had leaked on numerous places: the boys bed, the ground, the doormat, the kitchen floor, the counter, and me. Lol!!!!

As a result of all this I now have water bottles and containers filled with milk in my fridge. It's not easy finding bottles/containers big enough to put nearly a gallons worth of milk in. Lesson learned....milk never again goes in the cargo area! On the floor behind my seat is where it will be from now on. Lol!!!

Cody at the Vet!

Now I do not normally travel around with my camera to take pics of the boys at the vet. But I happened to have my camera in my purse from the day before so perfect opportunity to distract Cody while waiting to get his vaccinations done. I love how he sat in the chair next to me while we waited on the vet to see him!

This one was taken before he realized I had a camera in my hand.
Now he's fully aware of the camera. He's such a ham at times!!!

My Easter!

I had a great Easter with my boyfriend and his family. We went out to his granny's farm which provided us with a nice break from the city. Easter morning started off a little rainy but then turned sunny. The wind was a constant and still is 2 days later! It was windy enough for a kite flying good time.

Happy Easter!!!

I absolutely love Easter! It's likely tied for the top spot on my list of favorite holidays. Easter has less stress involved than my other favorite holiday, Christmas. The weather is lovely(usually), trees are getting greener and greener, flowers are in bloom. And despite my age I still look forward to coloring Easter eggs. I plan on doing that later today! Not to mention the significance of Easter is of extreme importance for Christians!

I just got back from the store, where I bought all the necessary items for the things I'm making for Easter tomorrow. Left on the 'to do list' for today is coloring eggs as I mentioned, baking brownies, and making a spinach dip. While I was at the store I was somewhat confused....do Texans eat chips with their spinach dip or crackers? Problem solved...I got both!

The pic from above is from Cody's first Easter. I bought him some bunny ears. Which he promptly took off and chewed on! LOL!

To all I wish a very Happy Easter!!!! Enjoy the day!!!

Good Friday!

On this Good Friday I decided to do a post that will be short on words. Spring has sprung here in the big D. I believe Dallas is one of the prettiest cities I have ever lived in or seen for that matter. However, I will admit that since I grew up in the not so pretty desert my opinion is a little different than most peoples. Nonetheless Dallas is still pretty to me! I took a couple pics from around the area.

Added Bonus:
This pic I couldn't help but take the other day. Cody cracks me up sometimes. His face is nearly completely blocked by the toy. He loves Simon's new toy!!!
