Smells Like BBQ

Bubsy: Oh yes, for it is Memorial Day weekend. Do you smell that sissy? 🍖 🥩

Sissy: Yep, I smell it. Smells like BBQ!

Bubsy: The distinct smell of BBQ season kicking off in our great state erupts on Memorial Day weekend. All grocery stores are smoking meat in the parking lots and serving it up hot and fresh.

Sissy: Say what? Then why are we doing this blog right now. Let’s go get some BBQ. I’ll take some Texas brisket. 🍖🥩

Bubsy: Nope, no BBQ for us.

Sissy: The humans are so stingy with their food…never a tiny taste. ☹️

Bubsy: So sissy, how was your week?

Sissy: Are you sure you want to ask me that? Oh my gosh, mom chopped my ears off. Can’t hear a thing because my ears are GONE. Mom’s license to cut hair needs to be revoked after this major 3 day blunder. Yes, you read that right. She came at me 3 days in a row with scissors. She kept saying she was trying to “fix” me. ✂️ Goodness me, get a new focus mom….one that doesn’t involve my ears.

Bubsy: You know, mom doesn’t actually have a license to cut hair.

Sissy: Say what? Well that’s a problem, my hair is too precious for an amateur.

Bubsy: Well sissy, I think you look pretty good. It’s quite different than before but change can be a good thing.

Sissy: 🙄

Bubsy: In other news around here, we had a major storm. ⛈️

Sissy: Wait, don’t we always have major storms?

Bubsy: Yes, I suppose we do. Anyway, our tree basically split in two. A massive cluster of branches came down. Leaving the remaining part very lopsided. Only a matter of time until the rest of the tree comes down. So mom and dad are collecting bids to have it taken out. I would volunteer for the job but I’m not a beaver. Nor can I operate a chainsaw…no opposable thumbs. 😆

Sissy: I wouldn’t even trust dad with a chainsaw so definitely not you.

Bubsy: It’s been very warm here but tomorrow is the last of the warm days for the rest of the week. So if anyone is looking for me tomorrow…I’ll be in my little pool. I say “my” pool since sissy isn’t into pool time at all.

Sissy: Nope, that pool is all for you. I walk around the pool and block you from getting out. I don’t swim.

Bubsy: Mom or dad would teach you to swim.

Sissy: No need. I don’t care. I’m all about keeping my precious feet dry and my silky locks looking immaculate.

Bubsy: Well sissy let’s wrap this up and go watch some hockey with mom and dad. Allow me to wish everyone a safe and relaxing Memorial Day and may you all enjoy some BBQ.

Sissy: And please share your BBQ with a furry friend if you have one. It’s the right thing to do. 😉🍖….Below you will find our weekly pic…actually two pics this week. 🇺🇸

Early Heatwave

Bubsy: Welcome to our Sunday. We had a very full Saturday. We’re both still recovering from it.

Sissy: Who knew great-grandma’s 100th birthday would be so jam packed with activity my little head would spin and my tongue would hang out almost down to the ground with exhaustion.

Bubsy: Lots of big time fun and plenty of people to bestow attention on us. How was other parts of your week, sissy?

Sissy: Whew! We had a heatwave. I couldn’t believe it. One day mom was cuddling up with me wearing a sweatshirt and the next she was in flip flops and a t-shirt. A heatwave that prompted dad to set up our swimming pool.

Bubsy: Safe to say we were a little caught off guard. I nearly got overheated running with the neighbor dog. Whew!😥 I landed myself in our little pool to cool off.

Sissy: Thankfully the preview of a late July heatwave is now over. Things are back to “normal” with a dose of rain. I’m happy about the better temps but I’m not into the rain. ☔️

Bubsy: With that heatwave the veil of humidity arrived. Every May a veil of humidity is thrown over our great state, Texas.

Sissy: Texas! Gotta love that humidity. In other news, good ‘ol Texas made our momma rather mad this week.

Bubsy: Sissy, dramatizes everything. I would classify mom as irritated or perturbed.

Sissy: Whatever, bro! She was clearly not a happy camper after finding out that you cannot renew your drivers license by going to the DMV.

Say what…she needs to renew but can’t renew at the DMV? Confusing! 🫤

Bubsy: As it turns out you must renew by appointment only. And they are booked up until August. So mom’s hopes of accomplishing getting her license renewed before she goes back to work have officially been axed.

Sissy: Let me add…this ain’t AZ folks, we only have DMV’s in very centralized locations. We do not have registered to operate third-party offices. So sorry mom…you must wait 3 months and you must take a day of work to go get your drivers license renewed. Because you aren’t allowed in a DMV building unless you have been booked to be there on a specific day. 😝

Bubsy: Wave that Texas flag proudly, sissy. Seems like some strange Mickey Mouse operation you would come up with. 🙄😬

Sissy: Hey, I take offense to that. Everything the great country(😉) of Texas does has I’m sure meaning and purpose.

Bubsy: Catch that word, “country”? Sissy prescribes to the belief that many Texans have…that we are our own country not just a state.

Sissy: That’s right! 😉

Bubsy: Anyway, steering away from sissy’s crazy belief to the craziness of that hockey last night. I got to bed extra late because the Stars were busy going into overtime. 🏒

Sissy: On to the next round for the Stars. Soon the French Open starts so dad will have to balance his viewing between hockey and tennis. Which means my head will start spinning. 😵‍💫

Bubsy: Plan your naps wisely, sissy. Well it’s time to put a wrap on this week’s post. Hope everyone has a great week. 🐶

Happy Momma’s Day

Bubsy: Welcome to our Sunday on this special day. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there. No matter what kind of mom you are…Happy Mom’s day! 💐

Sissy: Happy Momma’s day to my momma. She’s really the only mom I’m spending time acknowledging today. Or any other day for that matter. 😉

Bubsy: We saved up our allowances. Pooled our money together and got our momma a couple little gifts. 🎁 I think she liked the gifts a lot.

Sissy: I hate to mention this but the cat didn’t contribute any money to mom’s gift. She is the most self-centered one of all of us. 🐈

Bubsy: It’s okay, sissy. No need to throw shade at our cat-sister. She lives in her own world and does her own thing. She’ll figure out a way to show mom some extra love today.

Sissy: Probably by hacking up a fur ball. 🤮

Bubsy: Oh my word, sissy. Time to change the subject. Currently on our TV is football. But we are hoping dad will soon relinquish control of the TV remote so mom can watch what she wants to watch. Because I’m pretty sure she’d choose something else over watching football in Houston.

Sissy: And after all it is mom’s day.

Bubsy: It’s Mom’s day next week too. 😆 Our extended family is getting together next week at our grandparents house for a combo celebration for Mother’s Day and a very BIG milestone bday for our great-grandma. 💯

Sissy: Sounds just like mom to get in double celebrations. 😆 Seems like something I would do. 😉

Bubsy: Well I think Mother’s Day celebrations next weekend will be mostly focused on the elder members of our family. Our momma will purposely take a big backseat to everyone next weekend. 😉

Sissy: Maybe we should wrap this up bro and go eat some lunch…I’m hungry.😋

Bubsy: I like your idea. As for our  weekly pic we of course had to go with a special color theme for our momma. Red and mint green is her favorite color combo so that’s what we went with. We also included a bonus pic of sissy and momma. Hope everyone enjoys their week! 😊💐

Loud and Proud

Bubsy: Greetings, welcome to our Sunday afternoon. Sissy, can you hear me? 👂

Sissy: What? Did you say something?

Bubsy: I think we both suffered hearing damage after this noisy week. The weather was unbelievable with storms. LOUD storms! Then last night was also a game 7 for the Stars. Which meant Dad was over the top with his “excitement” and the noise level was outrageous in our household.

Sissy: Dad was beyond over the top. I’m currently looking into acquiring earplugs before the next hockey series. 🙉

Bubsy: Congrats to our Dallas Stars, they are moving on. ⭐️ Now, let’s tell people what else is going on…it was a good week for our breed.

Sissy: We got that number ONE status.

Bubsy: What sissy is alluding to…our breed topped two different charts this week. Little Havi’s like us were the top breed named to be Most Puppy Like Forever. Then on another day our breed got the somewhat silly honor of being named Top Alternative To A Shih Tzu! 😆😆 That’s a funny one.

Sissy: I guess there’s some people that don’t want to deal with the issues of a Shih Tzu so they are going for us Havanese instead. 👍 That’s what you call a “shitty” problem.😆

Bubsy: Oh my…watch your language sissy.

Sissy: What? I said nothing wrong it’s a play on words since they are Shih Tzu’s. 😉😆 So what else is going on in our world?

Bubsy: So our mom is still recovering. She’s making some good improvements. Walking better but not very fast. She could be in a tight competition with a turtle.🐢

Sissy:  Her cousin is her new movie recommender. Mom has even been willing to watch a couple “boyish” movies he suggested like Ford vs. Ferrari. And I must say, I quite liked those Ferraris in the movie. Who knew I had a need for speed?😆🚘

Bubsy: I already knew I had a need for speed. I love getting on dad’s motorcycle. 🏍️

Sissy: Ha, ha! True story…recently dad warmed his motorcycle up…then mom…whom was in the house looked around and noticed Bubsy wasn’t around. She managed to hobble to the garage and saw dad putting Bubsy on his motorcycle.

Bubsy: She was not a happy camper. Boy, she scooped me up in a hurry. Before I knew it I was off the motorcycle and in mom’s arms heading back inside the house as she scolded dad for putting me on his “death trap”. 🏍️

Sissy: I doubt you will be back on that motorcycle anytime soon.😆

Bubsy: That’s okay I get my need for speed out by doing zoomies in the backyard. Well, sissy let’s wrap this up and go watch some football or a movie with mom. Hope you all have a fun week! Happy Cinco de Mayo a little early! Oh and let’s not forget…”Happy Sweet 16” to our momma! Sixteen years ago TODAY she moved to Texas! Then she met dad and I guess the rest is history. Texas was a good move for her….she not only got dad in the Texas deal she much later got me and you, sissy!😉😊

Sissy: I’m sure I’m the most fabulous part of moving to Texas. 😉 Have a good Cinco de Mayo, my peeps. Go easy on the cervezas and tacos.🍺 🌮
