Shopping
Um, excuse me kids, what are you doing? Two little rebels, one is more guilty than the other. A lot more guilty. Wrong pantry for shopping for your food furries of mine. Look at Piper, she's all the way in the pantry.
This is what happens when I turn my back for one second. The cat is in the pantry and her blind brother is innocently poking his head into any open area hoping he finds his way out of the kitchen. If he was following her scent in hopes of finding his way beyond the kitchen she has failed him, she made a pit stop at the open pantry.
About To Celebrate
Someone's birthday is fast approaching. As a matter of fact just yesterday the fur-babies went shopping for their human daddy's bday gift. I hope they found something good. LOL!
I decided to have Brad's birthday party on the 4th. Double celebration time! Happy birthday Brad and America! I'm unsure what the fireworks are like in our new area so I'm having the party in the afternoon long before fireworks will start popping off. Therefore, if anyone is concerned about seeing fireworks they can still attend Brad's bday party and make it to a fireworks show in the evening. It took a little convincing to get Brad to agree to the party on the 4th. He doesn't like his birthday being combined with the 4th. HUH? Since when does he not like this? I don't always do a combo party of America's birthday and Brad's birthday but it has happened numerous times before.
Once I got Brad onboard with the birthday party on the 4th I then had to turn my attention to the menu. Where to begin with my menu? Well let's briefly explore a list of perfect items to serve at a summer party:
coleslaw
potato salad
Jell-O salad
pasta salad
deviled eggs
Am I right? Perfect, go-to dishes for any summer gathering! Now here is a brief list of items Brad hates:
coleslaw
potato salad
Jell-O salad
pasta salad
deviled eggs
And now you all are curious as to what I'm serving come Wednesday. Well, I have it figured out and none of those dishes will be present. Although I must say every year when I first sit down with a pen and paper to menu plan for his birthday I long ever so slightly to make those go-to food dishes that seem to scream SUMMER. LOL!

Flashback Friday
Welcome to flashback Friday, now can you tell who this little guy is? His daddy guessed wrong! Anyone else want to venture a guess? Is it Simon? Is it Cody?
There's no tongue hanging out, it has to be Simon. Right? Wrong!!! It's Cody! Flashback to the time I snapped a pic of him with his tongue completely in his mouth!!! In his 16.5 years I have seen him with his tongue in his mouth maybe a handful of times. I believe this is one of two pics I've captured. He's cute no matter what, but look how cutesy he is in this pic. Big expressive pug eyes!

Quick Snap Sunday
The Boys!
This pic is the TRUE definition of a quick snap Sunday pic. Perhaps Cody's little head is tipped back too far. However, trust me he was still comfortable. Relaxing next to his human daddy still in his little pj shirt. Yep, definitely a comfy spot for this vintage little dude!
Did anyone notice they are both wearing red? :)

Mom's Visit
Well my mom is currently departing the DFW area, heading home to Phoenix. We took her to the airport after a late brunch earlier today. Her plane was delayed quite a bit, so she ended up being there way too early. That's the thing about taking people to the airport, once you drop them off you have no clue if their flight will be on time or delayed. If we'd known her flight would be delayed we wouldn't have dropped her off as soon.
Anyway, we enjoyed our time with her. We did some shopping, or more like a ton of browsing. We visited 3 different malls during her time here. We watched a movie at home I think all but one night. So she returns home completely caught up on the latest new releases. And she of course, enjoyed seeing her furry grandchildren. I think being around Cody was an eye-opening experience. He's super needy these days, which is understandable. The last two nights we have upped his dose of a calming pill and he has allowed his mommie(yours truly) to sleep. Oh what fun it is to SLEEP. I don't know if the increased dose of his calming med will continue to work but please everyone that reads this...cross your fingers!!! :) The weirdest thing about dealing with Cody in recent months has been the fact that something works for 2 or 3 days but then doesn't work on day 4 or 5.
A good "mom" visit was enjoyed by all! My mom hopes to return in December, maybe she'll be here for Christmas. We'll see!

Flashback Friday...Father-Son Style
Well it's Father's Day this weekend, therefore it seems totally appropriate to feature these two gentlemen on Flashback Friday today. This pic is from 2014, a pic taken at Thanksgiving at granny's farm. I'm sure my husband appreciates that I only went back to 2014 for a father-son pic! LOL! Happy Father's Day a little early to the father's out there.
Note to our fur-babies, you two better get out and get your human daddy something before Sunday! LOL!

Quick Snap Sunday
Resting Up!
He's resting up for his grandma's visit. My mom arrives tomorrow and she will be super happy to see this little dude. We've all kept our fingers-crossed hoping he'd make it to June. He's going strong! Well maybe not "strong", but he's still here. :)
It's been a busy weekend for us. Partly because we had certain things to do and partly because we've been getting ready for company. Its been close to forever since my mom visited last. Lots of changes for us in the past 2 years...no Simmie, now we're in Fort Worth, and most recently we ditched apartment digs for a house.
Well mom allow me to be the first to say it like I always do on this blog the night before you come to town....welcome to Fort Worth!!!

Middle Of The Night
Well, it's the middle of the night here. I wish I was sleeping. But Cody is not into the idea of catching some zzz's. Nothing seems to work to get him to settle down and sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time. Actually more like 20 minutes at a time.
In other news, it's less than a week until my mom visits. She arrives next Monday, which is her birthday. I've been tossing around numerous cake ideas. Although she's rather hard to please when it comes to cake due to the frosting. We are opposites in the category of frosting. I like an abundant amount, she likes hardly any. See my dilemma?
Alright folks, I need to try to get some sleep, Cody is drifting off once again. Fingers crossed its for longer than 20 minutes. I've decided to sleep in the living room to be near him and allow Brad to get uninterrupted sleep as much as possible.
