Mid-Sentence

I caught Piper mid-sentence! The pipey little noises she makes are part of the reason why she earned the name Piper. The other part is simply because it stuck after trying out 2 other names briefly that didn't stick. This pic was taken as she was loudly telling me to hurry up with her breakfast. She was jumping all over the place, from the sofa to the chair to the end table. She was a mad cat-woman until she got her food! LOL!

Quick Snap Sunday

Piper says: "Mom we need to talk! I'm way too busy for all these pics you feel the need to take of me. Can't a cat take a nice long catnap on a donut bed in the middle of the afternoon on a Sunday? Oh and by the way when I say "catnap" I don't have to include that saying, 'no pun intended' because I'm a cat and napping is one of the many things I do best!

Tennis, Coldness, and Moving

Raise your hand if you were up at 3:00 AM cuddling your elderly-vintage puggie and watching the Australian Open? Anybody? Just me? Thankfully there was nothing wrong with Cody, he was doing a-okay but since it was the women's final of the Australian Open I wanted to see it and of course so did Brad. I went to bed early then got up to see the tennis. Brad stayed up, no napping for him! LOL! There we were lounging on our sofa, Cody and I cuddled up under a blanket on one end and Brad with little Piper draped over him on the other end of the sofa. A good time was had by all! Especially when Brad and Piper took an ice cream break. Cody and I were way too snuggled in to think about ice cream. Actually Cody's never had ice cream, nor will he ever...sorry Code!  The men's final at the Australian Open is in the middle of the night tonight so we'll do it all again late tonight or shall I say super early Sunday morning.

After a rather cold December and many frigid days in January as well, I was recently thinking to myself, 'bring on Spring'. However, I must say it hasn't been too bad the last few days. It's been a nice reprieve from the coldness. We've had a few mild days arrive in our area with some rain. I'm cautiously optimistic for February. February as well as the beginning of March are such mysteries here. Some years it's mild, other years it's the worst of all the winter months.

In other news around here, looks like I was wrong. I was thinking we'd stay in this apartment until after Easter. Looks like we will be moving during the first half of March. This property we live at sold this week. Actually SOLD....this time. Once the new company takes over Brad says it will be too odd for him to continue living here. So it's time for me to find us a new place. The search is on!!! Living on-site at the property Brad will be transferred to will be our "safety net". Only if we are desperate and can't find anything else then we'll move there. Brad just believes the new property he'll be manager of won't completely fit our needs. Which is why it will be the "safety net", last resort type of place to end up.

May you all have a good weekend! Time for me to get a few things done around our place. Maybe even run an errand or two...Cody prefers not to run out of food. LOL!

Touring

Last Friday Brad's company wanted him to go check out the new property he will be the manager at(if all goes as is planned at this point...fingers-crossed). The new property they are acquiring is in downtown Fort Worth. The property is a mid-rise!!!! When I first found out it was a mid-rise I nearly lost it...in a good way. I jumped up and down and did a dance. We moved from a mid-rise complex about a year ago. A mid-rise means its a controlled access building with indoor corridors, a parking garage, and an elevator versus stairs....sign me up!

Well somebody tell myself, to not get too excited too fast. I believe Brad came away from touring the new property thinking it will be a great place to work but completely unsure about living there. None of the apartments have balconies. Which is a bit odd, yet it's downtown living so people want different things sometimes. I guess a desire for more living space outweighs the need of a balcony. Brad's biggest concern about us choosing to live there is that it's not as "dog" friendly as he knows I prefer. They allow dogs and cats in the complex but there's a lack of walking trails and such outside the building.

So Brad continues to be excited about the change in his title and going to a new property. As for our move, wow, who knows? I think we will stay here for awhile. I don't see us staying put for the long term but probably until after Easter. Brad will likely commute for about a month or so until he decides if he really wants to live on property or not.

Quick Snap Sunday

Cuddle Time

She loves him! Not sure what his true feelings are for her?  She clearly loves her big brother though. He loves her too, but he's harder to convince that the warm fuzzy feeling deep in his soul is love. LOL! My fave duo!

Quick Snap Sunday

Spoiled?

1) comfy donut bed - ✔
2) pajama shirt - ✔
3) blanket - ✔
4) comfy mini pillow from his human mommie's childhood - ✔
5) heating pad - ✔
6) space heater behind him oscillating in his direction - ✔

Is he spoiled or appropriately taken care of?  Remember we are speaking about a "vintage" pug.  Lol! In all seriousness, perhaps he could be considered spoiled...but not rotten!  Spoiled just right!

A Cody Post

Move

Hello to all for it is I, Cody! I had to take over the blog to share this pic with all my peeps. This is quite the pitiful sight. In the pic above, notice MY bed.  It's my new bed I got for my sweet 16th birthday. Now look to see what is on my bed?  It's my annoying cat-sister. Doesn't she realize I need my orthopedic bed to rest my weary bones on?  Doesn't she get it that I'm practically ancient?  No, let me re-phrase that, I'm vintage not ancient.  Sounds better, don't you think?  Notice how I couldn't even bear to look at her in this pic.  She is the world's tiniest yet biggest thief, always stealing my bed among other things.  Now notice my sweater.  Mommy changed my clothes early this morning.  I went from wearing my Cowboys hoodie to this football sweater!  I'm ready for a big NFL weekend! I'll be more ready once I can reclaim MY bed!!!! Move little sis...MOVE!

Big News In Our Little World

In my previous post I explained how today would be decision day for Brad. Is he going to stay here where he currently works until it is officially and completely sold. Or would he rather jump over to the property he has been told for months now he will be transferred to, a property in the Benbrook area. So the decision is basically stay here longer or complete the transfer. Well not so fast!

Oddly, enough earlier this week Brad was invited to attend the monthly "property managers" luncheon on Friday(today). He thought it was a bit odd that he was invited but didn't waste too many brain cells on figuring it out especially since he's been handling double duty at this property. He's been doing his job as business manager of the property plus he's been the on-duty property manager since early December. Double workloads are never fun! Without thinking about things much further he of course went to the monthly property manager's luncheon and that's when low and behold a 3rd choice was added to the mix for him.

What is the 3rd choice? His own property to be the manager of.  Yes, indeed. His company is in the process of buying another property. They are scheduled to take ownership of the "newest" property in February, we believe mid-February.  It's smaller and newer than the complex Brad is currently at. Today at the luncheon he was told his name was the first name that came up when the company execs were discussing whom to promote to the "newest" property. Brad has of course accepted the offer to take on the "newest" property once his company takes ownership of it. Trading in his title of business manager for full property manager!!

Fingers-crossed everything goes thru as planned. In the meantime while Brad waits for the takeover of the "newest" property he will continue to work here. We will continue to live here too. As our timetable to move is a bit undetermined at this point, especially in light of this big news of the day. We have the street name that the "newest" property is on and we know it's in Fort Worth, otherwise it's a waiting game to find out the rest of the details. He says he got the impression from the company exec that spoke with him at the luncheon that the "newest" property is a rather nice one. Fingers-crossed on that part too.

After the luncheon he couldn't wait to share the news with yours truly over the phone. Then later he stopped by our home briefly to talk to me and he was beaming! I'm very happy for him. He has not been excited to be transferred to the Benbrook property and I've told him he needed to try to get out of going there. So this news is a very welcome surprise.

As for the other surprise of the day....wait for it....for covering both the property manager duties and the business manager duties, essentially wearing two hats around here for the last 6 weeks his company gave him quite a gift...........wait for it.........AN ALL EXPENSES PAID CRUISE! Can you believe it? We're going on a cruise! We have to make the reservations within 45 days and we have 3 locations to choose from. The reservations have to be made within 45 days but that doesn't mean we have to go right away. Not sure what month we'll aim for...I'd like to avoid the busy summer travel season though. I still can't believe his company is giving us a free cruise....CRAZY COOL!

No Deal Yet

Is it only Wednesday?  I need the weekend to hurry up. It's been quite the noteworthy week thus far. Today was supposed to be the last day Brad's company owned this property he works at and we live at. But low and behold in the final hours leading up to today the deal fell thru. No deal!

The property is still up for sale but is not sold yet. So late in the day yesterday when Brad was given the news that property was not changing ownership just yet, he had the lovely task of making many immediate phone calls to keep all the contracts with vendors from expiring at 6:00 pm today. The groundkeepers, pool services, alarm company, etc. need to continue to provide services here.

Here's how things stand at this point. Brad has until the end of the week to decide if he wants to remain here at this property and be the property manager until it ACTUALLY sells. Or option 2 for him, is to start at the new property in another part of Fort Worth come Tuesday.

As for our move....to our furries....don't pack your toys up yet, kids! Since this property we live at is up for sale but not actually sold we have no time crunch to move. We can take our time it appears.

If Brad decides to immediately start working at the new property this coming Tuesday he will simply have to commute until we move closer. It will be about a 30 minute commute. So not too bad of a commute time.

Now here's my thinking, if Brad decides to stay here and be the property manager until the property is sold, then our move will be postponed indefinitely. If Brad decides to transfer and start at the new property come this Tuesday, then our move is still in the near future. We'll have some extra time to get ready since there's no change of power happening at this property in the near future. That being said, I'm not in favor of dragging our feet if he's having to commute everyday. Let's get the move behind us somewhat soon!

I feel like I know my husband pretty darn well...I would be rather shocked, like nearly fall off the couch type of shock if he tells me on Friday he has decided to remain here at this property until it is sold. Yeah, I seriously doubt that will happen. I truly believe come Tuesday Brad will be reporting to work on the opposite side of Fort Worth at the new property.  We'll see!

Trivia Answer....Top 5

A few days ago I posted a trivia question, regarding the top 5 cities dogs are named after?

Here's the answer a day early! I originally said I'd post the answer on Saturday but here it is on Friday.  Now I suppose I should have mentioned that the cities could be outside of the United States. That would have been a good thing to add. Had that clue been added to the post would anyone have guessed "Paris"? I definitely would have guessed Paris. But nope, no Paris on the list. My biggest motivating factor to post this trivia question is because 2 of the 5 cities are near and dear to me. Without further delay here is the top 5 city names being given to little furries these days....it's a bit surprising!

5) Savannah
4) Phoenix
3) Rio
2) Dallas
1) Sydney

Can you believe both Dallas and Phoenix are on the list? I've heard in recent months the name Phoenix is on the rise super FAST for babies but didn't realize it's so popular for dogs too. As for Dallas, oh nothing delights me more than hearing or seeing the name Dallas! LOVE IT! To my husband: Honey, when are we moving back to the Dallas areas we like? Let's throw the towel in on this Fort Worth living! Sorry back to the names...

Sydney, Rio, and Savannah...Sydney takes the top spot?  I have yet to meet a dog named Sydney. Of the cities on this list Rio's popularity makes the most sense to me. Rio hosted the most recent Olympic games, plus there's been 2 big time movies named Rio. All cities but Rio are a bit surprising to me to see ranked so high as dog names. Surely Paris is in the top 10 because, I am rather baffled to not see it in the top 5. So how did you do? Did you have any of them on your top 5 list?

Flashback Friday

Oh how I miss the sight of my puggie duo and the sight of my fur-baby trio!  Can we please get back up to a trio? I miss the antics of 3 furries under one roof! Nothing like it...chaotic bliss!

Trivia Anyone?

I love trivia! We play trivial pursuit frequently in our household. As a matter of fact it's always a top choice on New Year's Eve. Anyway, how about a little trivia on the blog. Dog trivia! What else do I like? Dogs, baking, and cooking, that's about it folks!

Oh and I like traveling so let's combine travel with dogs in a trivia manner. Confused yet? Me too! Just kidding it's my trivia game, I'm not confused!

So here we go, I'll pose the question then on Saturday I'll post the answers. This is a top 5 question. You have a chance of getting a couple right if you have to list a top five. No cheating, try to simply use your brain and not your google. Mom, did you read that part? LOL!

Name the top 5 cities dogs are named after!

More New Year's Pics

Look who made it to 2018!!! Way to go Cody-man! But your mommie is terribly selfish when it comes to you...you've made it to age 16, thru Christmas, and now welcomed in the New Year...next up, age 17 my puggie! Right? Don't disappoint your mommie!

Anyway, some additional pics of the super early in the morning photo shoot with the furries! I must first say, I was so over the top excited when I found a mini top hat for my Cody-man!!!  Clearly, Cody was pretty sleepy thru most of the photo session. However, he's awake in the first pic below. Yes, that's him awake! He holds his eyes closed a lot these days. Meanwhile in all the pics Piper is checking to see if the thing on her head is edible. Surprisingly she is super tolerate for costumes, tiaras, and other such things I subject her to. Tolerant despite being a cat! ;)

Happy 2018!

This is the kind of pic I get when I take their picture at 12:30 AM! The old man is asleep with his New Year hat barely clinging to his head and the little girl is pretending she's too good for picture time right now. But hey, at least she has her tiara on!

Notice how they both have the same paw extended forward! It's their secret message to their peeps! ;) Happy New Year to all!! Time for bed!
