Quick Snap Sunday

Piper says, "Oh my word, must you mom? Must you take a pic of me now, it's 3:00 in the morning."
Yes, Piper-girl it was a must. I couldn't resist how cute she looked all curled up on Cody's bed with Cody's toy next to her. Gotta love the squinty eyes as she was awakened by the camera's bright light. We were up super late into the night, waiting for a product release. Fun times!

In other news, Brad has been struggling with our trimmer and has been thinking about a new one. Late this morning he came home with this! He is so excited about his new purchase! Look out lawn, he is armed and dangerous! LOL! The funny thing is he wants to use it tonight. Um, excuse me...what's going on tonight? Why have we cleared our calendar?.....oh that's right, there's a football game...my Cardinals are in town!!! Woo-hoo! Cardinals vs. Cowboys! Go Cardinals! Rumor has it Cowboys are sitting out Prescott and Elliott! However, I hope to see Cards play their new rookie QB.

Flashback Friday Pic

I LOVE THIS PICTURE! It's actually my screensaver! My two little gems all dressed up as Bert and Ernie. As I mentioned yesterday I went to Petco and Petsmart to get Piper some food. Of course it's that time of the year where Halloween stuff is already trickling into stores. As I glanced over all the costumes on the racks memories of dressing up my puggies for Halloween immediately flooded my mind. I think this one, my little Bert and Ernie is my overall fave of all time! Okay, let me take it one step further...it's my fave of all time of just my boys! Stay tuned in the not so distant future I will feature my overall fave of the trio of C, S, and baby P!

Overindulgence

Sugar and spice and everything nice, oh isn't it fun having a cat daughter. My sweet Piper has been rather sick this week. She has slowly improved as the week has progressed. Somebody left her bag of treats out when he went to bed Sunday night. Another little somebody decided to break into the bag then eat almost the entire contents. When I awoke the next morning and discovered what was left I was just hopeful her system could handle it. This little girl of ours has ZERO self control. That's exactly why I do not believe in leaving food down or within reach of pets. Very few fur babies can stop themselves when given the chance to pig out.

As a result of her over consumption she has spent the week sick as a dog and she's a cat...so use your imagination as too how sick she's been. She was puny on Monday! My grandmother used to use the word "puny" to describe not feeling completely 100%. Puny, is the perfect term for Piper this past Monday. When Tuesday arrived it was frightful. I am so glad I have experience with pets and I did not freak out. I simply did my best to take care of her and monitor her closely. Tuesday was definitely the worst of it! Yesterday she was improving but not as quick as I'm used to fur babies improving. But I know cats are different than dogs and take more time to get over things. So again I remained cautiously optimistic.

She steadily improved as the day progressed yesterday. However, she's a cat and cat's are weird! Sorry Piper but you know it's true. When cats get that sick they usually demand a change in food. They just flat out refuse to eat more than a few bits to keep themselves going. Yet they whine and cry like a baby for food. So there I was today at Petco reading nearly every label on every cat food they had in the building. I then decided I wasn't too impressed with their offerings and went around the way to a Petsmart. Once again, I read nearly every label in the Petsmart. Finally after too much deliberation, I came away with a new food for my Pipe-Pipe. My brain hurts! I feel like a dork in one way reading all the labels and being so picky. But bottomline, I want her to have good nutrition.

I have been through this before a few times with Storm. When she would get sick she blamed her food and refused to eat until we bought her something new. Piper did the same thing one other time two years ago. It's like they lose faith in their food. Or they blame their food for making them sick and they refuse to eat it ever again. Obviously it was the overindulgence of treats and the bits of the treat bag Piper likely ingested as she broke into the bag...that's what made her sick! What is left of her previous food I'm fully confident in still. But Piper won this battle! She has a new food!

I'm happy to report she already had a little snack of her new food. Which she loved! I hope to get her fully back on her normal eating schedule by tomorrow. As for this evening, my plan is to give her two more tiny meals today. Has she learned an important lesson to not overindulge? Probably not! She's too much like SIMON! And the bad part is, his pug belly could take a lot more then her little cat belly. Cat's systems are naturally more sensitive than dog's systems! Think about it, dogs eat rawhides and pig skin chews...yep, big difference in systems.

Quick Get-Away

We just completed a quick get-away to Oklahoma. We arrived home earlier this afternoon. What's in Oklahoma, you ask? Casino resorts! Absolutely no gambling of any kind is permitted in Texas so all Texans wanting to enjoy a quick casino get-away must head north to Oklahoma! Well neither of us are gamblers but there were plenty of other amenities to entertain us if we didn't want to gamble too much. When it comes to gambling of any kind we are both rookies!

However we did find a few games to busy ourselves with. Slot machines were not for us, we got bored super fast with those. Sitting at a table to play poker or blackjack wasn't for us either. However, it wasn't too long before we zeroed in on a couple of games we liked and understood. I fell for roulette and Brad fell for a horse racing game. So together we divided time between the two types of gaming action. If they didn't have 2 seats available for us to sit and play together than we stayed away.

I'll admit my husband nearly had to drag me to Oklahoma, because I was perfectly content staying around here and having a nice little "staycation". But Brad really wanted to leave the state of Texas for a couple of days. Some of his co-workers suggested one of the casino resorts in Oklahoma for a quick getaway. Even though we aren't big on gambling it was still fun and it was a great resort to be at. It is basically in the middle of nowhere. There's not much around it. However the casino resort had all the food and attractions even a duo not too into gambling could want or desire. Once we arrived and parked our car we never left the premises for 3 days. The casino resort had added attractions like a movie theatre, an arcade, and a bowling alley. There was even a small food court in the area with the movie theatre and bowling alley. Definitely plenty to do even if you aren't a serious casino goer!

Quick Snap Sunday

Scared for her life? Or relishing the moment? Which one is it Piper-girl? That expression on her face is rather skeptical.

Possible thoughts running through Piper's head:
1) "Does he really have me good enough, am I about to fall?"

2) "Oh dear, now daddy's forgetting I'm a cat and trying to cradle me like a pug just like mommie does."

3) "Is this semi-torture going to lead to a treat?"

The Blender Story

I don't have a good history with blenders. For some reason they just don't want to do what I want them to do. Since Brad and I have been married he has gone out to replace our blender 4 times. Yeah, I told you, I don't have a good history with blenders. I'm pretty good with all other kitchen appliances! :) With blenders I typically burn the motors up. As I stated, I expect the blender to handle more than what it's capable of. Plus, I leave it running for too long, thinking that the longer it runs the more likely it is to chop or blend up whatever it is I'm messing with. Within a matter of minutes there's smoke as well as the aroma of smoke beginning to be detected.

Many months ago when Brad surprised me with our most recent blender known as #4. He specifically told me this was it for blenders. I was informed the fourth blender had to last until we were old and gray because we aren't replacing another one. I was warned to not mistreat "#4": to not fill it too full, to not leave it running for too long, to not try to chop things that it can't handle chopping. Side note, if it has a "chop" setting, then why can't it chop what I want it to chop? Frustrating!

When it comes to using the blender I primarily use it but there are times when Brad decides to make drinks in it. Over the weekend he made a round of drinks, filled the blender to the brim. We didn't drink all that he made so he saved the drinks by putting the pitcher of the blender in the freezer. Low and behold last night he was in a hurry and not knowing his own strength flung the door to the freezer open, in a split second before he could react the pitcher fell to the floor. Immediately breaking into a billion pieces! That glass pitcher on our type of floors was a done deal!

All I have to say...this time around, it wasn't my fault. I did not cause the latest catastrophe to bring down yet another blender in our household. Brad's response after we cleaned up the mess, "After all the lecturing I did to you when I brought that blender home, I'm the one that breaks it. Didn't see that one coming?"

Quick Snap Sunday!

The Culprit!

So this is how my earbuds keep getting messed up! Here's the little culprit.

Earbuds hanging down from the laptop that sits on the table...way too difficult to resist!

See, what I mean...too difficult to resist. She's not exactly "chewing" on them, don't worry. She uses her mouth to catch them in then she lets them go to bat at then catch them again. It's a cat thing!

Excuse me, what are you doing little girl?

Side Note: This is the 4th post this weekend, so be sure to scroll down to see the other posts of the weekend.

Cody TV

I came across this gem early this morning! So glad I have these little videos to look back at and cherish! My sweet Cody-man! Moments captured in such videos are exactly how I will remember him and his little brother.  Without further adieu, he was always up for a workout! ;)

Cody's Life In Pictures (Part 2)

Part 2 is an eclectic group of pics focusing on the later half of my Cody-man's life. These pics are taken from a wide range of years. From middle age to senior citizen days. Oh and the bottom pic is one of my ALL TIME faves of my two boys. I took it while out walking them one afternoon. I loved walking my boys! I absolutely loved spending that kind of time with them...me and them and absolutely no distractions.

How will Cody be remembered? Very fondly! Oh yes, very fondly! His sweet demeanor. His desire to please. His super playful nature. He was a pug that could wait to eat dinner. He usually had an important date with a toy or blanket that needed to be roughed up before he could report to the kitchen for dinner. Without a doubt he was toy motivated. He loved getting new toys and carefully protected new toys from his siblings that he deemed to not love toys as much as him.

He especially had a liking for tennis balls. Brad used to load a can up with tennis balls then open it near Cody as the tennis balls fell from the can to the floor Cody would bounce around from ball to ball. He thought having tennis balls raining down on him was the BEST thing ever. He however, did not think the same thing about actual raindrops from above. He wasn't a fan of rain, snow, or cold. If it wasn't perfectly sunny out then leave him inside with his toys. LOL! Cody was also super friendly, he had quite the "look at me" dance he would perform for people when they came over to visit. He would be spinning and jumping about so much it was hard for people to actually greet him. I often referred to him as my "happy-go-lucky" pug due to his dancing and strong playful desire.

Obviously I'm going to miss him. I will now be missing not just Simon but both my puggies immensely. But overall, I'm relieved Cody's relieved. He's relieved of all his misery and frustrations. He is back with his brother and happy again. That "look at me" dance he used to do he likely did as he walked over that rainbow bridge to greet Simon and Storm. R.I.P my dear sweet puggies! Mommie will always and forever love you both. You two were the best pugs I could have ever wished for. It was an absolute HONOR to be your human mommie!

Cody's Life In Pictures (Part 1)

We've been Cody-less for a whole week. I miss my big man puggie!! However, I must not discount that it was a long life for a pug! I have to be thankful I had him for so long. Tons of good memories, numerous great stories, and countless adorable pictures. Some of my faves are featured below, these pics in part 1 focus on puppy and super young Cody:

The Washer Story

I shall preface this message by saying, honey I love you! I love you with all my heart. I'd literally do anything for you! And without further adieu here is a little story. So how do you know? No, not how do you know when you are in love. I already figured that out years ago! :) This is the new "how do you know" question. How do you know you've possibly spoiled your husband a little too much? This is how...

Early last week I was busy making dinner and starting some laundry. Brad usually changes first thing when he gets home. Changing from work attire to comfy attire. Therefore, I decided to wait until he got home and changed before officially starting the washer. I simply got everything ready, all that needed to be done is add his work clothes from the day and push start on the washer. Easy-breezy! Skip ahead a good ten minutes, Brad is home and has just finished changing his clothes, comfy stuff is now on. I'm standing in the kitchen chopping veggies when he rounds the corner to the kitchen with his work clothes in hand....(now let's go to the dialog)

Brad: "Here's my clothes from today."

Me: "I got the laundry ready to go just throw in your clothes and push start."

Brad: (he walks towards the laundry room, then returns to the kitchen after about 2 minutes) "Um, babe I don't know which one is the washer?" (said with a very puzzled look on his face)

Me: (I look up from the chopping board and over at him, I'm now also sporting a puzzled look on my face, out of complete disbelief I muster up)..."Huh? What did you say?"

Brad: (with a somewhat embarrassed/confused and yes, still puzzled look he says,,,"Yeah, I know I hate to say it but I have no clue which one is which. I barely look at "those machines" when I walk by them.

And that right there folks is how you know...how you know you have perhaps spoiled your husband a little too much. :) When he can't tell the difference between the washer and dryer! LOL! Sorry honey but this story will be brought up in the future, not often but from time to time. You know, kind of like I periodically remind you that you forgot Cody twice. He came home with Simon but no Cody.

Side Note: Gotta love the way he referred to the washer and dryer as "those machines". LOL!
