Zero

Guess how lucky we were this weekend? We got new neighbors. New neighbors now occupy the apartment above us. This is Brad's great luck too, the previous tenants in the apartment above us were evicted by him and the new tenants...well let me tell the story as it has developed so far.

The 3 major issues at this complex that I can see are as follows: people that don't bother to put their dogs on a leash, people that don't bother to pick up after their dogs, and a large pit bull population. The large pit bull population is the result of the previous management not caring and/or new tenants simply lying to get into an apartment. Pit bulls are not a permitted breed! I'll get back to the pit bull issue in a second, after I reiterate one of my major pet peeves(no pun intended)...people that do not leash up their dogs annoy me. Come on people, don't you love your pet? Certainly it's wonderful when dogs can stay right with their owners and not go astray but what if something comes out of nowhere to distract your dog? I mean in a blink of an eye it could be goodnight and good luck Fido. Okay enough of that, it's my weird issue! Back to the pit bull issue, they have ZERO place in apartment complexes! ZERO!!!

Since I am the very happy human mommie to a puggie named Cody, I have of course taken mental note as to the apartments where pit bulls reside around here. On Friday the new neighbors moved in above our place. They were on-site transfers. Imagine my surprise when I clued into the fact they have not one, not two....but THREE pit bulls. YES I SAID 3...PITBULLS! Protecting Cody is a brand new issue. Now here's the kicker to the story of the new neighbors, they were previously in a quiet corner of the complex apparently hiding these 3 beasts. No one had made management aware of the fact that this household includes 3 pits. Hmm, I wonder whose wifey it was that clued in the management two days ago? Do you have any guesses? Wink-wink!

It's illegal to have 3 dogs in one apartment. Not to mention the fact that it's illegal to even have 1 pit bull in an apartment. The neighbors are pretty smart though they walk the pit bulls one at a time. And two are nearly identical. So yeah, they've been sliding by!

Well folks I'm so fast at making friends wherever I go. LOL! The new neighbors that have only lived above us for 5 days now glare at me, stare at me, and mumble under their breath when I walk by with Cody in my arms. Guess how much I care? ZERO!!!

As if Brad wasn't going to see the beasts for himself soon enough. When you are a pet parent you get familiar super quick with the dogs around. The ones to be aware of, as well as the ones that your dog might enjoy playing with. Yes, I'm the primary walker of Cody. But Brad's quite aware too, they wouldn't have been able to hide those pit bulls too long when living above our place. I guess it's not just our weird luck to now have to worry about protecting Cody from 3 pit bulls but the new neighbors didn't have the best of luck either. They were hiding these dogs and now that's all coming to light!

Definitely no hanging out unsupervised on our walk-up in front of our apartment for Cody, I will not take any chances like that. He is old and is no match for a pit bull. Even in his prime he wasn't a match for a pit bull. Pug vs. pit bull....no possible outcome favors a pug!!!
