Texas Size

Bubsy: What a week it was. How are you doing, sissy?

Sissy: It was a bit of a rollercoaster week.

Bubsy: Let’s review things for the people at home. First up, our weather. Mercy me, shiver my timbers!!! We had record coldness for Halloween. The cold weather lessened just a bit by Halloween night but clearly the weather put a damper on the trick-or-treating. 🍬🎃

Sissy: Mom was bundling us up every time we went out. You’ve heard of a “hot mess”? Well I was more like a cold mess 🥶

Bubsy: She’s hot tempered and a mess 99% of the time so the term “hot mess” fits her. 😉 Thankfully the oddly timed cold snap has left and our temperatures have returned to normal. We didn’t need jackets this morning and mom is back to wearing short sleeves.👍 This past week was finally a little busy for dad. As he had to serve jury duty and got put on a case for two whole days. Hmm, what else happened this week?

Sissy: We had time change in the wee hours of the morning. We actually got to walk in the light of the day thanks to that hour disappearing. Where the hour went is beyond me but I was told to enjoy it disappearing because it’s the last time it will happen.

Bubsy: That’s right sissy. This will be the last time we turn back the clocks. In springtime we will spring forward and we will STAY FORWARD!!!! Legislation has made daylight savings time PERMANENT. So when it comes back around in March of 2024 it stays and never leaves. Year round we will be two hours ahead of AZ, where momma’s family lives. Enough about that boring time stuff…what else happened this week, sissy?

Sissy: I dressed up as Piglet.🐷

Bubsy: We already know that. What else happened, some craziness exploded along about Wednesday. Do you recall?

Sissy: Oh geez, how can I forget. First things were weird because dad couldn’t sit still late Wednesday night. He kept pacing the floor. Meanwhile, mom seemed rather calm as she texted with two different cousins of hers in AZ. And then…

Bubsy: And then…it happened, the last out happened. And our house immediately exploded in loud hooting, hollering, and jumping up and down on the couch. Never seen dad jump up and down on the couch before. Next thing we knew dad was grabbing champagne and we were dodging a champagne cork that flew out of the bottle while mom attempted to cover my ears and sissy’s ears.

Sissy: It wasn’t just inside our house that was loud, the outside soon caught up. Lots of honking of horns, loud yelling, and music filled the air outside for a few hours.

Bubsy: Going to bed at a decent time did not happen for mom or myself or anyone else in the city limits.🙉 For those that might be clueless what happened in our area on this past Wednesday…the Texas Rangers won the World Series! For the first time EVER!

Sissy: Our city has been on quite the high since Wednesday. You can’t go anywhere without seeing shirts, flags, or even billboards marking this special achievement.

Bubsy: Schools and workplaces even closed early to allow students and parents to go to the parade on Friday.

Sissy: I think our city has celebrated big!

Bubsy: Like they say, “everything is bigger in Texas”. The first ever World Series celebration has been Texas-size! Only negative is, the victory came against mom’s hometown team, the Diamondbacks. But it’s okay, she’s in a house full of Texans so she’s been forced to celebrate too.😉🎉…Now the pressure is on, come on Cowboys catch the title fever and go win a title this season!

Sissy: Oh geez, not sure I can handle that kind of celebration again just three months from now.😬

Bubsy: Don’t worry sissy, you can handle it. Now let’s wish the people out there a good new week and go catch some zzz’s before the Cowboys game. And lastly, big congrats to our home team…the Rangers!
