Staying Home, Movies, and Basketball

How's the long weekend going for all? Not bad for us. We've been chilling at home for the majority of it so far. Only gone out briefly a few times. I went and did the grocery shopping yesterday afternoon to get that done a day early. While I was at the store I rented a redbox movie, Black Panther. Yes, we were part of the very LOW percentage of people that never went to see it when it was in theaters. Surprised? I'm a little surprised too. Usually the latest and greatest Marvel movie makes it on our list of worthwhile movies to see in theaters. Not sure how we missed Black Panther? I must say though...and please no one write me an email about this opinion...anyway, we weren't that impressed. It broke tons of box office records and we know of people that went to see it in theaters multiple times because it was supposedly so good but we were less than blown away. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it didn't live up to the enormous hype media, critics, and the general public have given it. The scenery did have some stunning appeal to it. Storyline was a little predictable. Brad was a little disappointed no other Marvel characters had cameos. That part didn't surprise me. I think Captain America and Ironman still rank the highest for my fave Marvel movies. Ironman even the sequels have been just as good as the first one.

Another movie we popped in, one we bought because we liked the first one so much, was the newer Kingsmen movie. The first Kingsmen had a pug featured in a rather prominent way. Of course I was into that! There was even a pug puppy on the cover of the Blu-ray of the 1st Kingsmen movie. So the second installment I was anxious to see the little puggie again. This is how the Kingsmen 2nd installment went for us....

There we sat watching it, the pug looked so cute. His owner decided to go out for the evening, and the little puggie went to curl up in his bed for awhile. Next thing I know the mortal enemy of the pug's owner had his house blown up. As I watched the scene, I randomly said out loud, "the pug got out right?" Next, I turned to my husband, "they wouldn't kill off the pug only 10 minutes into the movie right?" His response, "I don't know honey?". Next scene was the owner of the pug and the house returning to see the ashes. I waited to see the pug rise up out of the ashes, you know like a Phoenix, and when that didn't happen. I quickly and loudly exclaimed, "Turn it off, I can't watch a movie where they kill off a pug". That movie is now dead to me!!!! How dare them take out the pug!!!!

In between watching movies we've spent time watching basketball. Of course we are for Houston. Next best thing, if the Mavs aren't in it. Our preferred choice, Houston versus Boston in the Finals. Doubt it will happen but one can wish! Tonight I believe is game 7 in the Boston-Cleveland series. So maybe another movie and a little basketball again for us.
