3:45 AM

There I was asleep in bed, nice and cozy when all of a sudden things got loud. It was like a jet, a plane, or maybe a helicopter hovering above our house. After being jarred awake by this noise I looked over at Brad's side of the bed and it was clear he still hadn't come to bed for the night. I struggled to focus my eyes as I got out of bed to check on this ridiculously loud noise. I walk out of our bedroom and immediately call for Brad. The lights in both of the spare rooms were on. He calls me into one of the spare rooms. I walk in and I kid you not this is what I see...my husband standing on a chair with his gun on the bookshelf next to him and binoculars in his hands as he craned his neck to look out the very top corner of the window. Upon seeing this sight I couldn't help but giggle as I immediately questioned why he had a gun and binoculars? Yes, I skipped over asking what the noise was to ask about two other things. He was so into reporting about the noise he skipped over answering my questions. The noise was from a hovering helicopter.

According to Brad a helicopter was hovering over the field across the way from us and it appeared to be delivering supplies. He says it had a basket of stuff it was carrying. I know what you are thinking...at 3:45 AM supplies are being delivered. I'm still questioning that too! I guess that's what you get when you live adjacent to a farm road. This helicopter delivery likely woke up the whole neighborhood. I don't know how anyone could've been sleeping through that noise? It was so loud, believe me it was LOUD.

Well folks I used to think I was likely the more nosey one in this marriage. But after last night, I'm not so sure? I think Brad might be more nosey than I? If he hadn't already been checking out the noise by the time I got up. All I would have done was look out the window to see it was a helicopter then went back to bed. I would not have watched it for the entirety like he did with binoculars. I also would not have thought to get the gun nearby. But keeping a gun close is just Brad!

Back when we lived in apartments he would construct an obstacle course before going to bed at night. His obstacle course was designed to slow down an intruder and give himself extra time to get his gun ready. The only times the obstacle course wasn't constructed was when we had company. Oh and he stopped doing it when Cody went blind. I do not miss the obstacle course to deal with every morning when I get up!

Late this morning when Brad finally got up for the day he was quick to inform me he needs a telescope. I asked why? He believes he would've been able to see even more last night if he had a telescope instead of just binoculars. I reminded him, telescopes are for seeing the stars, the moon and planets, not spying on a helicopter delivering supplies. LOL!
