Well it's Christmastime it's also Christmastime during a pandemic. Thanks to this pandemic there's lots of extra activity as far as delivery people. There's more and more stores offering delivery services than ever before. But not all those delivery drivers are honest and good upstanding citizens. To become a delivery driver for Uber Eats, Shipt, Doordash or Postmates there's little to no requirements. Just about any Tom, Dick or Harry can be arriving at your door.
Where am I going with this? The other day we received a delivery. It was a delivery that was not even ours. The guy delivered it to the wrong house. But while he was dropping off this delivery he decided to swipe 5 USPS packages that were at our doorstep. I did hear the delivery guy knock at the door but I chose not to answer because it's just too scary. I did look out the window but by the time I did he was at his car and was quickly putting my packages in his backseat. I couldn't catch the guy. And once he had them in his hands what was I going to do about it? There was really nothing I could have done.
In a way I wish I had opened the door when the guy first knocked to leave the delivery but then again it's just not wise to ever open the door unless you are indeed expecting someone or something to arrive...which I was not. So lesson learned! Watch our packages much more carefully!
Delivery services are now thriving thanks to covid. However, packages that are already at someone's doorstep getting swiped by a delivery driver is going to be a new issue for these delivery service companies. I guarantee we are not the only people to have packages swiped by a delivery driver during this holiday season. But here is something that needs to be added...markers on their cars! Something similar to a pizza delivery driver. However, maybe something more like a large magnetic sign that can be put on their car door while they make their deliveries that clearly reads: "Doordash" or "Shipt" or "Postmates" or "Instacart". In that instance I could have seen it was a delivery driver for Postmates and I could have called Postmates to tell them their delivery driver just swiped my packages. I spent a few hours on the phone yesterday trying to track down which delivery service was in our area at that specific time. Such a pain!!
