New First

Bubsy: Welcome to this week’s blog session. A big first occurred this weekend for our parents. Before I reveal what happened for the FIRST time ever since they met…let me back up to Friday night. On Friday night mom went to an annual Christmas By Candlelight event at church.  

Sissy: Mom has basically done nothing but party this weekend. 

Bubsy: Friday night event was not a party. It was a mix and mingle with worship and a guest speaker. 

Sissy: Well mom was all dressed up like she was going to a party so hence my confusion. 

Bubsy: Sissy, you get confused a lot. 

Sissy: Yes I do. These parents of ours are extremely confusing. 😵‍💫

Bubsy: So sissy, in exactly one week our parents celebrate their wedding anniversary….12 years! And a new first happened for them yesterday. 

Sissy: They went to a party which doesn’t seem noteworthy.

Bubsy: Oh it was noteworthy, because it was the first time they have attended a Christmas party together for MOM’S work. They’ve attended Christmas parties at dad’s work back when he was working but mom worked long distance and never went to Christmas parties for her old line of work. And since becoming a teacher the Christmas parties have been staff only and have not included spouses. But last night mom and dad went to her work Christmas party that was open to spouses attending. Boy, was it a different feeling for dad. 

Sissy: Yep, he’s not used to being the non working spouse at a party that only his wife is known. He’s only used to mom being in those uncomfortable positions. 

Bubsy: Things are so flip flopped in our house. Mom is the breadwinner and has the work functions. She has another work function next Sunday. Which dad is not happy about, since it’s their anniversary and it’s also the day grandma arrives to town. 

Sissy: I think dad will end up staying home from that function but maybe grandma will accompany momma. 

Bubsy: I’d accompany her if I was allowed. 😉 So sissy, let’s wrap this up and go enjoy relaxing with mom before dinner and more football. Speaking of football, once again the Cowboys are on Monday Night Football. Hide your eyes tomorrow night, sissy.

Sissy: My blindfold is ready. 

Bubsy: Maybe I can borrow our older cat-sister’s hat as shown in the pic below. She has the right idea when watching a Cowboys game. 😂
