The Boom

Bubsy: I have two big questions for you, sissy. How was your weekend and how is the power grid?

Sissy: You have gone thru all I’ve gone thru this weekend. And the power grid…where should I begin?

Bubsy: There we were enjoying a “normal” Saturday. Dad was watching college football. Mom was in the kitchen food prepping for her work week. When all of a sudden….

Sissy: A BOOM! 💥 

Bubsy: A big BOOM! The type of boom that made you stop in your tracks and make sure the house was still standing. 

Sissy: About 5 seconds after the boom, the lights flickered and then the power was out. 

Bubsy: Both of our parents reacted quick by running outside. Don’t think for a second they got out the door without the two of us. 😉 Much to our surprise…not a good surprise….smoke was billowing up. Then flames.🔥 

Sissy: Mom ran back inside to get her phone to call 911. While dad grabbed the garden hose. I barked at the situation. And Bubs ran along the side of dad. While mom’s on the phone with 911, dad was yelling to get us fur kids inside. Which mom did right away. 

Bubsy: Mom scooped up sissy in one hand then yelled my emergency command word I’ve been trained to respond to. And I quickly responded. 

Sissy: Three fire trucks arrived to fight the fire. 🔥 

Bubsy: So what happened, you ask? The power box exploded. The power box for the neighborhood is directly behind our fence. Our fence was saved. We are all fine. But it sure was an eventful Saturday. After the fire was out a large entourage of emergency electric workers were camped out directly behind our fence working to fix the latest blackout. 

Sissy: So many blackouts. I can’t take it! 😠 

Bubsy: Mom was super late getting all her food prepping accomplished but she finally finished.

Sissy: It took her forever! But anyway, let’s move on. I’ve been busy laying down the law around her. I’ve been chasing the cat. 

Bubsy: Sissy, you’ve been told many times today to stop being mean. And yet you have continued.

Sissy: I have to keep the cat in line. She was starting to go near mom, and I didn’t like that. 

Bubsy: You are so jealous and possessive. 

Sissy: That is not breaking news. Just like a power outage in Texas is no longer breaking news. Because it’s a given! 

Bubsy: Well friends, it’s time to end this. Since Sunday night football is coming on. Time to go cheer for ATL! Have a great week and happy first day of Autumn! 🍂
