Bubsy: Ring the bell….schools are about to be back in session. We thought we’d start the school year a day early, we are dressed in our best and ready to catch the bus. Let’s get these kids and teachers back in session.
Sissy: This is all music to my ears. These kids in our neighborhood thinking they have the right to ride around on their skateboards or play basketball in their driveways is beyond me. I’m tired of barking at them for these infractions. Get back to school! ๐ซ๐
Bubsy: Oh Sissy, you are a trip! As we type this post our parents just got home from attending a special church service at the church school our mom works at. First time for dad to be willing to go to a church service there. ๐
Sissy: He kind of had to go this time around….since mom was being recognized as a lead teacher at their school academy.
Bubsy: Good point sissy! Moving on, what else is going on in our tiny world?
Sissy: This was the week you nearly lost your mind.
Bubsy: That is so true. How could I forget such ongoing chaos. So here’s the story…
Sissy: Grab some popcorn…it’s a long one. ๐ฟ
Bubsy: Gather round for part one of our woodpile chronicles. A bunch of wood neatly chopped and piled up sits on the side of our house. Now, I am a peace loving guy that is extremely comfortable with sharing my backyard with blue jays, cardinals, and even squirrels. I don’t typically even hinder the geckos that occupy our porch. And during the rainy Fall season I’m not even troubled by the frogs that hop in our yard. That all being said….a peace loving guy has his breaking point at some point. One day this past week I realized there was a new inhabitant to the woodpile. Although I’m a peace loving little guy, I’m also not into allowing some animal to have squatters rights in MY backyard.
Sissy: So what did you do about it?
Bubsy: Well all day I was completely fixated on the woodpile. Dad didn’t think much of it. But then mom came home for the day. She instantly noticed my obsession for wood had grown exponentially while she was at work. Every time I went outside I only hung out by the woodpile. Mom immediately questioned things? Her brilliant idea was to wait until it got dark then shine a flashlight to see what’s living in the woodpile.
Sissy: Just a brief side note….I was totally unconcerned about this woodpile and its inhabitant. I’m rather self-centered like that. ๐
Bubsy: Anyway, back to my story. Darkness arrived and mom, armed and not so dangerous with a flashlight set out to explore what is living in the woodpile and driving me bonkers. ๐ต๐ซ After a few looks at different angles between the logs mom saw a tail. A long tail! Hmm, what has such a long tail like she saw? Next up, Dad came outside to explore too. That’s when all my fears were realized…As I’ve stated before I’m a peace loving guy and I share my backyard very well with blue jays, cardinals, random birds, and squirrels. However, I do not share well with possums. O’possum, oh no!
Sissy: Yep, his worst nightmare is the real deal!
Bubsy: Can you believe it? There’s one maybe even two living in our woodpile. ๐ Now I’m not sure why I can’t find peace with possums? But they just seem to annoy me to no end.
Sissy: Now the question is how long will the possum live there?
Bubsy: Don’t even get me started. This possum is going to be like an annoying squatter that you can’t get rid of. And now that our parents know it’s “just a possum” they aren’t as concerned. ๐ฆ
Sissy: Well should we wrap this up and get back to our day? You probably need to get some extra rest so you can be on possum patrol later. ๐ Plus we have to help mom make paper airplanes. Her school is doing a special event with paper airplanes for National Aviation Day on Tuesday. And after all the Dallas area is home to both the headquarters of American Airlines and Southwest Airlines. ✈️ So celebrating aviation day is a must.
Bubsy: You are so right. Time to end this for today. We must end with this…our mom who is a teacher of tiny humans along with the rest of the state of Texas start the school year tomorrow. We wish all the little and not to so little kiddos a great school year. To their teachers, we hope they enjoy their students and come away from this new school year feeling like they made an impact on numerous students. ✏️๐๐๐️๐จ๐ป๐๐ Happy First Day of School!….don’t forget an apple for your teacher. ๐ Below you will find our individual first day of school pics. We are ready to catch the bus! ๐
