Quick Snap Sunday: Say Those Prayers!

 Say Those Prayers!

I love it when I catch Cody sleeping like this. He's always been the type to cross his little paws. Perhaps last night he fell asleep with his little paws crossed after saying a few prayers for his little sister. I think your prayers were heard and answered Code-man!

On Friday we felt confident we knew what we were dealing with concerning Piper's condition. But boy were we wrong! She seemed to perk up slightly Saturday morning, however, as the day progressed she became worse and worse. By the time Brad arrived home after his tennis match late in the afternoon he was instantly as concerned as I was. We looked at each other and in unison said, "she needs a vet". I've never rushed a pet to a vet hospital in that bad of shape. Her condition deteriorated so quickly during the course of the day. I drove while Brad attempted to keep our little patient calm. Once arriving at the vet, Piper was taken to the back for them to work on her. She was put into a "bear hugger" which is a warming device that stabilizes a pets body temperature, plus she was put on oxygen. While we were waiting the vet came out to see us a couple times to give us updates. One of us may have started crying during the whole ordeal, especially when life threatening diseases were being mentioned. Once they did x-rays all was perfectly clear as to what was wrong. She ate a portion of one of her toys. Whether she ate it on purpose or somewhat on accident while playing with the toy, who knows! I did recently notice her fave toy, her Fozzy Bear was missing his nose. She was taken into emergency surgery late last night. Thankfully she came through the surgery well.

She will hopefully make a complete recovery. We haven't seen her today. We received an update early this morning and will be updated this evening by the vet hospital. She will most likely come home tomorrow. It was determined she also has pneumonia. She likely got pneumonia from taking in liquid that was not able to go anywhere due to the blockage in her intestines from the toy. Water she drank likely sat in her system too long and caused congestion since it couldn't circulate through her.

Oh man, what relief we felt when we found out she came through the surgery. It's been a long and stressful weekend. Our poor little cat-daughter. And yes, without a doubt I feel like the worst fur-baby mommie on the planet!!! We thought we knew what was going on. We thought we could get her better. I learned a long time ago to not rush pets to a vet for every little thing. Yes, I was confident we were treating her right to get her better but when it became obvious she wasn't improving at all and instead she was getting worse there was no hesitation on my part...let's get her to a vet!  Our original plan was to wait until Monday, try to get her better through the weekend and re-assess things on Monday. But she crashed too much on Saturday neither of us was waiting any longer. Good thing because I don't believe she would've made it until Monday! Sadly!

Definitely, looking forward to her coming home. I'm sure it will be a challenge caring for her this week, but we'll get her through it! We've already been discussing the plan. Although we are a little unsure what exactly it will be like having her home until she is actually home.

Short side story: Upon us arriving home last night without Piper in tow, both boys stood at the beginning of the hallway that leads to our front door for awhile staring at the door. They were clearing questioning where she was. Likely wondering if we forgot to bring her inside. All day today they have been a little edgy. They are showing their concern in their own way!
