For fireworks on the 3rd we decided to go up to the roof of our building to see the show. Spectacular view! The city puts on a great show each year. We could hear the music being played at the actual event. All the benefits of being at the city's 4th of July celebration yet we were at home. Sweet!
We decided on Thursday that we had seen enough fireworks the previous night so we just had a low-key day and evening, no need to go searching for more fireworks to see. We almost waited too long to go pick up something for dinner. We drove around to a few places before finding one of our fave spots still open. Most places of course closed early for the holiday.
It's been a nice long weekend, a celebratory one. We've also watched plenty of tennis. Our mornings have been spent watching Wimbledon coverage. We usually sleep in a lot more than we have these last four days. During Grand Slams were glued to the coverage whether it's the Aussie Open, French Open, Wimbledon, or the US Open...our TV is on and tuned to tennis a ton! This time of the year in the summer and even back in the late portion of Spring we seek out numerous televised tennis tourneys, big or small to watch. We both love tennis and football. Those are definitely my top two sports to watch.
Wimbledon has been very interesting this year. So many well known players were out early. Quite a few didn't even make it to the second week of match play. Two of my faves, Nadal and Sharapova were out super early. I celebrated when Serena Williams was beat. The girl that beat her we've actually seen play here at the Dallas tournament we attend every August. I'm not a fan of the Williams sisters. I root against them every chance I get. Why? They lack humility and Serena's actions towards people that officiate her matches has been downright disgraceful at times.
I've been saying Murray would win Wimbledon since Federer and Nadal dropped out early. So we'll see if I'm right. As I type this Murray is looking quite strong! He's very close to taking down the #1 player in the world to capture the Wimbledon title! I want to see a Britain born person win Wimbledon. I like seeing the excitement of the British fans to see one of their own do so well. I think they've been waiting over 70 years to see a British born win Wimbledon. It's long overdue!
