We touched down in London about 12:25 PM local time. That was about 6:25 AM in Dallas. The plane ride wasn't bad at all. It was long of course, but not unbearable. They had decent entertainment options, movies and TV shows were On Demand. Each person had their own mini TV screen built into the headrest of the seat in front of them.
In advance thru our hotel we set up a chauffeured car to pick us up from the airport. So glad we did that. I couldn't imagine trying to navigate the subway system fresh off a 9 hour flight with all our luggage in tow. It was very easy-breezy. Collected our luggage, exchanged currency then we found our chauffeur to take us to our hotel.
My first impression on the limited amount of London we've seen so far is that it's old yet modern. I'll elaborate more in the coming days! The influence Europe is having on American car designs is obvious. When I visited Europe years ago the cars looked so bizarre to my American eyes. Not so bizarre anymore! The city of Chicago has paid for some billboards here. Near the airport I saw a series of billboards advertising Chicago. Another thing we've already noticed is the amount of Italian food restaurants. I'm thinking Brits like pasta! Saw one street with 3 Italian restaurants on it.
Our hotel we are quite impressed with as well. We are on the fifth floor which is the top, overlooking a city street. Not a great view because we can't see off in the distance but it's likely one of the best views in this particular hotel. Brad already complimented me on the choice of hotel. Making sure he's happy is SUPER important to me.
I slept a few hours on the plane. Brad slept about 10 minutes total, he has a hard time sleeping on planes. It was a bit more challenging to sleep on the plane then I thought it would be. We obviously need to catch up on our sleep!
Special message to our 2 moms and dad....we will try to call once we get a calling card tomorrow. Hopefully the collective group of parents will check this blog and be satisfied for today knowing we're here easing into the first part of this European honeymoon.
