It's nearly vacation time for us. Finally! We've been pretty busy this summer, our vacation had to be pushed back to September. Instead of a "Summer" vacation we'll be having an "Autumn" vacation. We were both content with waiting until September since this September 15th we will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of our first date. Can you believe it? Brad and I have been together for 5 years! We dated for just over 3 years before marrying and we're sneaking up on our 2 year wedding anniversary in December. Therefore we kind of wanted to have some time off so we could celebrate this little milestone better.
We have been quite undecided as to where to go and what to do for our vacation. After taking a rather extravagant honeymoon last year it's been difficult deciding what to do this year. We have strongly considered a stay-cation. As we don't feel we get to be at home together with absolutely nothing planned often enough. We've tossed around many ideas: Canada, San Francisco, Washington D.C., to name a few. We even settled briefly on one. In the end we have decided to stay close to home, a minimum amount of travel and no airport needed. Once that was decided, we moved onto consider San Antonio, Houston, Austin, and possibly Oklahoma.
As of last night it had been narrowed to San Antonio or Houston. Both cities are close enough to drive to, both have interesting to us attractions, and both allow us to spend time there yet no need to make the time there too long. A small trip to explore some of Texas plus a stay-cation at home is the goal! Late last night Brad made the comment he's never been to Houston. All other cities in Texas interest me because I haven't seen them yet. I was surprised to hear there's a major metro area my Texan husband hasn't discovered yet. His admission of never visiting Houston was said within the same sentence as he declared more of a desire to finally see Houston then go to San Antonio. Well that's easy! I completely agree, if he's never had the opportunity to visit Houston then by all means the decision is made. Houston it is!
I've already looked up hotels and of course the most interesting attraction to us NASA. We will certainly be taking in a full day of NASA exploring. They have 2 different tram tours and we will be doing both as the tours explore two different sections of NASA and Johnson Space Center. Cool! I'm excited to see another metro area of this state I happily call home! I was quite confused the attraction of NASA versus the attraction of Sea World in San Antonio. So glad Brad mentioned he's never visited Houston! Easy-breezy! He said he stopped to get something to eat while traveling through that section of the state once but he doesn't consider that he's "actually visited" Houston because he did nothing but grab a bite to eat on the outskirts. I agree that doesn't count. That would be like me saying I've visited Philly when actually at age 16 I simply had a layover there and never went outside the airport. Yep, I've never "really" visited Philly.
So we will be Houston bound at the mid point of September! Checking out NASA, exploring the Galleria area, going to the aquarium, as well as some other attractions I've looked up. Definitely want try TopGolf. A golfing entertainment complex, featuring lots of golfing games. Even some where you have to hit the golf ball aiming to get closest to the "bulls-eye". It's said to be fun for all ages. Sounds unique and different to me which means it's a must try. Brad and I always look to get in a game or two of mini-golf while on vacation. So TopGolf it is this vacation! :)
