NOOOOOOOOO!

There I was sitting in our living room last night alone with our three "kids", Brad had a "practice" tennis match, I was extremely busy watching TV. Oh thank heavens football has returned.  Just in the nick of time too.  The other night while I was saying grace I thanked the good Lord that football season was once again upon us.  My husband couldn't help but laugh out loud during the prayer. Hey, what can I say? I LOVE football! As my husband said, "you're likely the only wife in America that included being thankful for football season in a prayer." Perhaps!

Okay back to my story....there I was sitting in our living room last night in my fave spot on the couch with three pets near when all of a sudden it happened.  Nearly the worst possible thing that can happen.  No Pittsburgh didn't catch a game winning touchdown against my Cards. Pittsburgh wasn't playing the Cards they were actually playing their in-state rivals the Eagles. What happened? My screen went solid black!!!! Yep, nothing!  And my response was to yell in a rather quiet manner: "NOOOOOO". Honestly the nerve of the TV to go out during football!  Geez!  I didn't even get to see if the dude that the QB was throwing to caught the ball.

I quickly jumped up to reboot the cable box.  I muttered to the 3 pets about my disgust for our cable box.  I also commented to them concerning the timing of this cable malfunction.  Unable to reboot the sucker myself, I got our cable company on the phone. They ran checks on our cable box from wherever they are. I first spoke to a computer that couldn't help me enough so I eventually got transferred to a human.  The human spent....oh geez....likely 50 minutes on the phone with me trying to solve our problem. It was determined we need a new cable box. They don't send technicians out to install new cable boxes instead they drop the new cable box in the mail.  So I can expect the new box to arrive by Monday no later than Tuesday.  What a relief!  I'm being a bit sarcastic!  All weekend with no cable is not appealing to me.  I wasn't sure how my husband was going to take the news either, no cable in the main room.

So since there was no cable I decided to put in a movie to watch on our Blu-ray, I turned on the Blu-ray after putting in the disk and NOTHING.  What is going on? The Blu-ray wasn't working either. When the screen went black I never thought to check other inputs on our TV.  I simply assumed it was the cable. Since the Blu-ray wasn't working I then began checking all other inputs. We have a total of 4 inputs: cable, 2 gaming systems and the Blu-ray. Only one of the gaming systems was working which is coincidently not plugged into an HDMI input port.  Alright I clue in that all of our HDMI ports have stopped working. They aren't damaged, something having to do with the HDMI circuit board has clearing gone bad inside our TV.  Oh great news! Cable box in living room is fine, TV is done for! I now have a cable box on it's way to us that we don't appear to need, instead we need a new TV.

Guess what we spent our evening doing?  Shopping for a new TV. We literally debated things for a full 2 hours as we walked around comparing nearly every TV Best Buy carries. In the end we didn't want to make a rushed decision so we came home without a new TV. We will sleep on it, let the specs process in our heads overnight then go back and hopefully purchase tomorrow. We do have it narrowed down considerably.  I would just like to say our TV is not that old, TVs should last longer darn it! I think this time around we will go with a bigger name brand than last time!  Hopefully that will make a difference when it comes to longevity. Fingers-crossed we pick a good one tomorrow!
