Come On Just One Kiss!



The other day I witnessed another sweet moment between our "kids".  It was early in the morning, I had just gotten our animal kingdom out of their enclosed quarters for the day.  After feeding all of them I returned to their sleeping quarters to check the community water bowl.  As I stood at the sink filling their water bowl, I turned around to see 3 pets staring at me. Nothing unusual about that! Next I laid the bowl down on it's mat in the corner.  A line-up at the water bowl quickly formed.  Cody was of course first, then Simon, followed by little Piper. Perhaps she was in a loving mood, or perhaps she was simply trying to sweeten up to Simon in an effort to line jump.  As I looked on, Piper strolled up next to Simon. Now standing right next to him, clearly invading his personal space, she gazed at him for a brief moment. That's when she moved in towards his cheek, attempting to kiss him.  He moved to the side one step. She moved to the side with him for her second attempt.  He then decided to move backwards two steps, she moved backwards too as she readied herself for a third attempt to give Simon a little sugar! LOL! Right after he moved for the fourth time Cody had completed his ridiculously long drink, so speedy Simon lunged forward about three paces to the water bowl.  Piper lunged with him. He stuck his face in the bowl as did she. The entire time he drank, she drank all while staring at him.  Staring at him in a rather loving manner.  He then turned to walk out of the room and she followed.

She is the ever so persistent cat.  She already knows Cody likes her.  Well Cody pretends he's unsure about her.  But don't be fooled, he likes her. They are decent buds.  Simon on the other hand, she's still trying to crack into his hard shell.  As I watched her pursue him the other morning I imagined she was likely thinking to herself...."Come on just one little kiss!" That thought was possibly followed with this thought...."One of these days you will love me not just tolerate me but love me, one of these days."

Yes, Pipey...one of these days!  Simon will come around!  Or at least that is the hope.  It's not that he doesn't like her per say it's simply that he doesn't feel the need to get super chummy with her. He's never been mean to her but doesn't go out of his way to roll out the red carpet for her...or anyone else for that matter.  He's super cool Simon that is simply in his own super cool world.  It's Simon's world that the rest of us just happen to live in. LOL!
