It's about that time again for a few pet tales. These creatures we live with are always doing something to help entertain us. Sometimes we likely entertain them too! I do wonder how many times they want to bust out laughing at their crazy human owner that just did something they classify as weird! Simon's eyes say it all most of the time, he doesn't need to actually laugh at us. We tell he's laughing at us in his simple expression.
Lately Cody has had no trouble getting in his proper beauty rest. There have been a few times that Brad has quickly gotten my attention to come look at Cody our "completely crashed out puggie". The other day we caught him with face tipped forward, nose down in the carpet crashed out. Nothing was disturbing to him. No amount of noise in the kitchen was troubling to his slumber. Then last night we caught him stretched out over two beds. His body in one bed and his head extended to the bed next to him and tilted backwards. He was quite the sight! Once again nothing disturbed him. He actually outlasted both of his siblings. Simon and Piper put themselves to bed while Cody stayed in the living room crashed out yet still around his parents. That's Cody, he can't handle being separated from us. I used to say he couldn't handle being separated from just me but that's not accurate anymore. He can't handle being separated from both of us now.
Oh my dear little Simon. Oh geez! He's so good natured yet he's a little punk too. I've got two short stories about him. The other morning while walking the boys, I was struggling with leashes, sunglasses, and duck food in my hands. All of a sudden I look down to notice I have only one leash. I quickly take account to see which pug I'm suddenly missing. Simon! I panic then turn around to look for him. There he stands a ridiculous amount behind us waiting for his lame brain mommie to realize he's no longer in tow. Geesh! One thing about the boys is that when you drop their leash they freeze. Not a muscle moves until they realize I have realized they are no longer near me. That is the first time I've dropped Simon's leash and left him so far in the dust. Embarrassing! Now for the punk story about Simon. There we are 4 of us waiting for the elevator late last night when another pug comes off the elevator. Simon immediately jumps in the face of this pug. Not exactly in a mean way but in more of a challenging "you want a piece of me" way. After he jumps in the face of this pug, the pug does nothing then goes on walking. As I maneuver Simon onto the elevator he looks back at the pug with the body language that clearly stated, "that's what I thought. I'm tough you aren't!" I was slightly embarrassed, I even reprimanded Simon while Brad I soon noticed was smiling and laughing. Simon the intimidator!
Now onto little Piper. Where to begin with her? She is a follower. It cracks me up how one brother gets up to do anything and she is right there following behind him. She's not picky as to which brother to follow. She would follow either pug brother to the end of the earth. Last night Simon came to check to see if it was treat time and there Piper was trotting along behind him. Simon went to bed early and she went to bed early too, cozying up just a few feet away from him. The other night Cody and Piper followed my every mood as I made numerous trips around the place as I did laundry. I wasn't going far yet I had two shadows that particular day. Actually most days I now have two shadows. But like I said she has to divide her time between brothers. Sometimes she follows Cody, then other days she's all about keeping tabs on Simon. The "follow the leader" game she constantly plays is quite funny to watch play out. Watching her follow one of the boys and watching their responses at times is entertaining for sure. She is so into seeing what they are doing at all times. She's a big time copy-cat(no pun intended)! I've also got her trained/spoiled to treat time. She now comes running to the treat closet in our house, fast to line up next to her brothers when it's time for a cookie!
Oh the joys of pet ownership!
