As regular readers of this blog might remember some months ago I mentioned that Brad's property he works at and we live at has been up for sale. It's sold now! This past Tuesday the staff was informed of the sale. I was instantly eager to hear what does this mean exactly? Does the new company have a staff ready to come in and take over? How fast will the transition from old company to new company occur?
Here's what is known at this point. The property has been sold to a very small company. The new company does not have a staff to bring in. They are hoping to retain the entire staff that is currently here. However, the complete sell of the property is expected to take a little time. Brad estimates the new company will fully takeover the property around the last week of September or the first week of October. That's only an estimate....who knows!
So it appears Brad will have a choice...stay or go? The property management company that he currently works for wants to retain the staff too. His current company has mentioned moving the entire staff to a new location. We'll see what he decides. I don't think he'll be forced to make a choice until late September. Stay tuned!
I think some people might be a little confused how all this works. Some people might be thinking to themselves...Didn't Brad just start working at this complex at the beginning of the year, how come it's already up for sale? Let me break it down a little further. Brad works for a property management company that was contracted to manage this property for a private owner. He is an employee of the management company not the private owner. If the private owner decides to sell the property then the rug kind of gets pulled out from under the property management company's feet. Get it? Brad will still have a job with his property management company but he'll have to be willing to go wherever they want to move him. So stay or go....those are the choices!
Since Brad and I have been together this has happened one other time. His property was sold and he decided to stay at the property to give the new company that bought it a try. So we'll see!
In the meantime it's business as usual for the staff and residents. Tonight there's a resident pool and movie party. Brad has so been looking forward to this all week. NOT! He doesn't mind his job but this is likely the one area that isn't so great about it to him. It may sound fun to attend a resident party but it's not that much fun having to work at one. Having to mix and mingle and serve residents on a FRIDAY night. He can think of a few other things he'd rather do with his Friday night. LOL! On the other hand Cody is very excited about the resident party, he's hoping for lots of extra attention. Cody will only go briefly. I'll walk him by and then back home. :)
