The Big D is like the frozen tundra at this present moment. The current temp outside is 13 degrees with a windchill of negative 6. Yes, that's right...negative 6. The absolute high temp for today is estimated to be 16 degrees. We still have a chance of snow flurries too throughout the day. It was snowing very lightly when I was out with the boys earlier. Yesterday I think our high temp was 19 degrees which we got to at about 10 am from then on the temp steadily fell. I believe these are the coldest temps I have ever been in thus far in my life. I don't believe the temps at my grandparents vacation home in Pinewood, Arizona ever got this low so I'm pretty sure these are the coldest temps I've ever dealt with. And I know for a fact these are the coldest temps the pugs have ever been forced to endure.
It started sleeting late Monday night. By the time Tuesday morning rolled around it was an icy/snowy winter wonderland. The snow is nothing like last year's snow. Last year's snow was fluffy and easier to maneuver through due to the lightness of it. I even drove to the post office and went to Albertsons during one of last year's snowstorms. This year the temps are so cold that the snow has quickly turned to ice. An icy layer covers nearly everything. The sidewalks and streets are like walking on an ice rink.
Remember the movie "Bambi"? Remember where Bambi is learning to walk? At one point Bambi goes sliding across a frozen pond and flops down with all four legs going straight out. That exact scene was reenacted by Cody yesterday. Simon seems to have an easier time keeping his balance but he's done his share of sliding too.
Dallas has seriously been brought to a standstill. Not much is going on at all. It's advised to just stay indoors so few businesses are open and for the second day in a row all schools are closed. Today the other issue has become power outages. The entire state is experiencing rolling power outages. I'm not venturing out in it at all. For the second straight day I'm staying home all day. There's no way I could get my car out even if I tried to go somewhere. There's too much thick ice around the wheels, they would lock up and it would go rolling into another car or something else.
