Arctic Blast #2 (part 4)

Back in November I told myself I was going to get some all-weather shoes, possibly some boots. Did I follow through with that plan? Of course not. Sometimes I truly irritate myself!

One thing I appreciate about Cody is that he's aware. He gets it! He understands there's ice all around us. He's fully aware these are not normal conditions. Furthermore, he understands that mommie has trouble walking on these walkways turned ice rinks especially if him or Simon pull on the leash. He walks very cautiously and looks up at me constantly. Simon on the other hand is Simon in all weather! Rain, sleet, snow, or ice rink...the boy is in his own world with a please don't bother me sign up! It is Simon's world he is just unfortunate enough that he has to share it with the rest of us! LOL!

My limit is 10 minutes. I can tolerate being outside in the conditions for a mere 10 minutes and that's it. I think Cody's limit is 15 seconds but he shivers his way through the entire 10 minute walk 3 times a day. Bless his little heart!

One thing I've learned is that when you come in from 15 degree temps with your hands aching from the cold don't put them under warm water. You would think that would help. It doesn't it only makes the achy pain more severe. Just trust me on that one!

I heard on the news that 17,000 went without power last night in Dallas and 5,000 went without power in Fort Worth. We lost power off and on yesterday. Once the power outages started occurring in an effort to conserve power the electric company began a "rolling power outage". First time I've experienced a rolling power outage before. Basically as enforced by the power company everyone loses power at different times depending on the area you live in for about 15 minutes. This is done once the electric company realizes there's major power issues going on throughout the state, it's an effort to conserve energy. Every hour yesterday we lost power for about 15 maybe 20 minutes. At least we were the luckier ones that ours always came back on after the rolling power outage went through many were not so lucky!
